Which for the grunts is probably fine. All you really need is to teach them to shoot in the general direction of the enemy. If I recall there was some stat out there that showed that like 1% of the soldiers in war do like 90% of the killing because the vast majority of people don't shoot to kill.
I think that's changed in recent years but back then it was fine.
