the water can pop when you move the cup because of something with the microwaves not forming bubbles until it gets moved making it splash or something. Never had an issue with it myself.

Sounds like what happens if you heat up distilled water.
Distilled water can be heated up to over the regular boiling point, and will practically explode when you add something to it like a spoon, or even just move it a bit.

However, with regular tap water you'll be completely fine, to my knowledge.
