I don't know, in a game genre that is all based around looking at dudes and pointing at them, do you not think that "Seeing more stuff" is enough of an upside for slight distortion, especially since once you get used to the distortion, you don't even notice it anymore (while the bonus of seeing more stuff is always there)?
