this jackass at my school has a 1988 Mercedes 420 SEL that had farcans on it...but decided it wasn't loud enough ready to hear what he did next? i'll give you a while to collect yourself first he sawed off his exhaust manifold prior to the catalytic converter to make it louder needless to say its fucking loud now and will be impounded next time it goes in for inspection because not having a catalytic converter is illegal
Reppin catless mufflerless brap on my jeep wololololol
And yet they only need the same three mine does. Alternator, power steering pump, air con compressor. Increasingly the power steering pump is becoming redundant as well, electric power steering is starting to take hold, and I imagine electric water pumps aren't far behind. Who knows, we may see a day where engines drive a couple of alternators and call it a day, with everything else being run electrically.
With an electric water pump and possibly oil pump there can be tons of warning when they become out of spec or fail. I would imagine thousands of motors running for ages longer if they refuse to work without the correct fluids moving through them. I would love to have an engine with a single belt and a single chain. Maybe with an electric oil pump we could get oil filters that aren't placed in retarded locations as well but that's probably too much to ask for.
My 350 in the 'vette has a single belt and a single chain. :v:
Well I meant for the chain to only be running the cams and a belt for an alternator. Why not just do away with for instance like my car which has a timing belt that runs the cams, water pump and oil pump and then 3 accessory belts which run the A/C, P/S and alternator.

BECAUSE RACE CAR
With an electric water pump and possibly oil pump there can be tons of warning when they become out of spec or fail.
The warning signs will be ignored by the people most likely to trigger them. The only possible one they can't ignore is the computer going into failsafe mode and cutting the spark entirely. But you don't need an electric water pump and oil pump for that. Just a water temp sensor, an oil pressure sensor, and the necessary code.
I would imagine thousands of motors running for ages longer if they refuse to work without the correct fluids moving through them.
Engines would live longer if A: they weren't so damn overcomplicated and B: People would take fucking care of them. The 'secret' to my Ford getting to and flying right past 300,000 miles is a combination of a simple engine and proper maintenance over it's entire life. It's still got at least another 50K in it, perhaps another 100K. Even with the complication modern engines can easily last 200K. They just need care.
I would love to have an engine with a single belt and a single chain.
That's all my aunt's truck has lol.
Maybe with an electric oil pump we could get oil filters that aren't placed in retarded locations as well but that's probably too much to ask for.
You don't need dry sump oiling for that. They make kits you can buy for pretty cheap that spin an adapter on where the oil filter mounts, thus letting you mount it wherever you damn well please. As well as plumb in an oil cooler. Snazzy shit.
Another thing i hate is shitty cars with fart cans. One dumbass at my school has a 1997 opel corsa 1.2 with one of those, sounds like an american V8 monster, but when i hit the gas on my fiat multipla it's like the fucking thing is standing still :v:
Uhhh, no. I can 100% assure you a 1.2L Corsa with a fart can is NOT going to sound like a muscle car. I don't know what dubbed over movie soundtrack you got the idea of what those things sound like from, but it's horribad off if it sounds like a riced out four pot.
Well I meant for the chain to only be running the cams and a belt for an alternator.
.....that IS how my engine is. Single chain that runs the single camshaft, single belt that runs the alternator.
I prefer the computers to do as little as possible...
Just keep in mind much like electronic throttles you can program it to be an interfering grandma, or program it to be sporty, some sports cars with electronic steering only really assist you at low speeds. (nsx/s2k etc, you can pull the fuse and have no ps, they're pretty much the perfect example of it done right, and that was in the 90s) My hydraulic power steering is numb, overpowered, and annoying, and I can't really do anything about it without an aftermarket steering rack, it's pretty much like a truck except it's not a truck
Maybe it's a UK thing but I couldn't stand having no power steering with these slow, windy roads. Plus weight of gear in the back. When I was driving in the Netherlands I can see the argument for not having it there, your motorways are long, incredibly straight and fast. Mine's not particularly overpowered, it's just right. It's very slow steering too, like one entire turn only turns the wheels maybe... 20 degrees?
Power steering makes little to NO difference when the car is moving.
Power steering makes little to NO difference when the car is moving.
My power steering makes little to NO difference, period. Lol dat leaking power steering rack.
my friend keeps raping his powersteering pump in his mustang lol imma back out of this space turnturnturnRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR imma pull out now turnturnturnturnturnturnRRRRrrrRRRrrrrRRRRrrrrrRRRRrrrRRR
i have this too its cool because people think i have a supercharger

Sitting still it goes brap brap brap brap, shortly after that it sounds to have a bit of a higher pitched rumble, but point is, it's fucking stupid
Just keep in mind much like electronic throttles you can program it to be an interfering grandma, or program it to be sporty
Call me what you want, but I'd rather not have to program anything. If I buy a sports car, it should be a sports car 24/7/365. It shouldn't be a sports car on saturdays and a commuter car mon-fri, I've got something else to commute with if I need it.
My hydraulic power steering is numb, overpowered, and annoying, and I can't really do anything about it without an aftermarket steering rack, it's pretty much like a truck except it's not a truck
That's not a fault of hydraulic power steering. That's the fault of the designer of your car who went for a numb, safe approach instead of one tailored for feel and responsiveness. Oh, and you can do something about it. Underdrive the power steering pump by fitting it with a smaller pulley. Less pressure = less assist = more feel. You can also make and install a pressure bleed-off valve in the lines that, once pressure hits a given point, vents fluid back into the res and bypasses the rack entirely. This is a common trick with 60's and 70's Mustangs that had PS, and it gives them the sort of feel you want when you're hitting a road course. Even allows individual driver preference into the equation. Drive a proper sports car with hydraulic power steering. You'll notice a huge difference in the feel. That is what V8s sound like. If they managed to make a 1.2L four cylinder sound like that, bravo to them I say.
IMO us americans know how to make an engine sound good
And Germans And Japanese And Koreans And Canadians
trolling me by putting challenger under canadians
thise v6 sound good but that challenger sounds awful.

Maybe it's just me. But I'm not sure I like it.
And Koreans
Yuck.
And Canadians
That engine was made in Mexico. And it sounds like garbage. Really. I'm a Challenger guy and I just think it sounds awful like that.
Italians have nailed how to make a car sound good. Even their 3L V6s in the Alfa Romeos sound amazing, V8s and V12 just sound like pure sex being filtered out of the exhaust pipe. Back to things that annoy me. Bikers, I only recently noticed how fucking annoying most of them are. They HAVE to overtake everything in their way, even on a 40MPH road they just can't hold back until you're out of the town, they can't bare to sit behind patiently. Weaving in and out of people on the motorways and generally just pissing you off. The thing that pisses me off is that when a biker gets pulled for doing 100+mph they get a slap on the wrist, if a car driver does the same they get a trip to court. Not all bikers are like these, but that majority riding sports bikes all ride in the same twatish riders.
fuji heavy industries is best sound
trolling me by putting challenger under canadians
I love trollin' people I'm actually contemplating moving underneath a bridge.

And it was like a 60 min ride. I was driving by the speedlimit, or VERY slightly under it. Even at 50kmh zones, people didn't have the patience. Some jack-ass taxi overtook me, only to turn 200 meters after he overtook me, i actually had to slow down. :suicide: And some jerkoff in a lowered ugly 90s hatchback bmw with a fart-pipe overtook me in a blind turn. Wen't so close to me i was afraid he'd hit me with the mirror.

And its really really easily to get into the mentality that you can do anything and go anywhere. My bike WHEN NEW accelerated to 60 in less than 3 and a half seconds. I know it won't do that now but when you flick your wrist the tiniest bit and you're going 20 mph faster than last time you looked its easy to just over take someone. And you get a different spacial awareness when you're on a bike and you feel like you can slip through any gap and weave wherever. I'm not going to lie. I've done stupid stuff on my bike. But I don't always do it or really anymore at all now that I'm more experienced. I'm not excusing bikers behavior but its really just very easy to think that way.
I want to learn how to ride a motorcycle. Any tips on where I could get lessons? I don't know anyone that rides a motorcycle.
I want to learn how to ride a motorcycle. Any tips on where I could get lessons? I don't know anyone that rides a motorcycle.
Where do you live, And what type of motorcycle (Dual-sport, street bike, cruiser) do you want to learn to ride?
Where do you live, And what type of motorcycle (Dual-sport, street bike, cruiser) do you want to learn to ride?
I live near Sacramento, California, and I'll ride anything but a Harley. I like Honda and Suzuki sport bikes as well as some Triumphs.

And as for any bike, i specialize in off road bikes, so if you're into that i can give you some pointers. A basic one is don't pop the clutch if you're revving the bike hard as that will either make you land on your back or put a lot of strain on the engine. [editline]31st March 2012[/editline] And also PM me so we don't spam up this thread.
I was considering getting my bike license so that I could pick up a cross-over street/dirt bike and insure it on daily passes when I feel like doing some biking, sort of a just fun and cheap toy. Then my friend mentioned to me "Hey, I'm getting my bike license" and I said "Oh cool, I've been talking to Logan (Mutual friend who rides a bike) about getting mine, I'd love to get a crossover bike for weekend riding, or to ride during the summer" Then friend is just like "OH MY GOD DON'T COPY MEEEEE!" :palm: This is the same kid who didn't know what the CRX was until I told him I wanted one, and now he just practically jizzes when talking about CRXs "Yeah the CRX is such a great car I would of bought one if I could find one, just perfectly awesome cars. Love them." FFFFFUUUUU- So I guess that's another on the list: Bandwagon Motorheads
