To be fair, everything post-1989 is made up. Chernobyl didn't blow up a second time, nor is there anything inherently weird about the Zone.
But not knowing Chernobyl blew up in the first place is goddamn ridiculous. It's worse than not knowing the Titanic is real, because not only was it far more recent, it affected the entire world.

No it isn't. Yes Chernobyl happened but the titanic is much more significant. In the UK you are taught all about the Titanic, its history and the events of the day. Some people are taught about Chernobyl in chemistry and other aren't.
I found out more about Chernobyl because it was interesting and I looked up information, long before they taught it in school.
[editline]11th May 2012[/editline]
But I guess Titanic has a bigger impact on Britain because it was from a British company, built in Britain and had a lot of British citizens on board when she sank.

The Titanic was a big ship that sank and a lot of people died.
Chernobyl was a nuclear reactor that melted down, killed a whole bunch of people through direct exposure, condemned thousands more to a slow death by cancer as a result of radioactive exposure, blew a cloud of dangerous nuclear fallout that traveled across the entire world, contributed to the economic collapse of the Soviet Union, had a huge impact on the future of nuclear power which is only becoming more and more relevant as oil supplies run dry, and even today shows the persistent effects of radiation and has given rise to some new and very weird lifeforms within the Exclusion Zone.
If the former is better known than the latter, I'd chalk it up to pop culture being pop culture, not because of any more significance to history or the modern world.
Even more relevant because of the recent Fukushima incident, which could have taken the same route as Chernobyl and was alluded to very often in media.
Fukushima isn't as bad though I don't think, Chernobyl actually like exploded while most of the problems couldn't be seen in Fukushima from the surface.
Fukushima isn't as bad though I don't think, Chernobyl actually like exploded while most of the problems couldn't be seen in Fukushima from the surface.
The point was that Fukushima could have exploded, and the media kept saying it would be a "repeat of Chernobyl" or things like that.
Fukushima did explode.
It just wasn't made by filthy communists so it didn't fuck the world up again.
You can thank the Japanese for that, their technology is the finest in the world.
Complete briefing sent to Doc. He's meeting with the people who run the field tomorrow at 2 pm. He's going to bring it up then.

Oh god my step dad has been an enormous douche all week
He got a new "job" (if you can even call it that) where literally all he does is sit at home all day. And it's some real dirty bourgeoisie shit because he gets paid 150 thousand dollars a year to do this. So all he does is sleep and drink beer so by the time I get home from school he's in super douchebag mode from a combination of being drunk and half asleep. I want him to go back to his old job, at least he was only grumpy on the weekends and wasn't as much of a capitalist pigdog then.
thanks to stupideye i like black peoples music now
I can sympathize with your problems, but ^ makes me go uhhhh
I think even you can agree making 150 thousand dollars a year to have absolutely no qualifications and pretty much sit on your ass at home for most of the day because you work for big oil is wrong.
[editline]11th May 2012[/editline]
I mean he worked for big oil before but he was making less money and actually had a legitimate job where he went into an office and did work.
came back from the hospital, i tried to commit suicide ,but I don't think a mental hospital was necessary. I just snapped because of all the high school bullshit and then I was okay again.
