What is the attraction to these characters driven by, then? It can't be a sexual preference, as there's both gay furries and straight ones. Can't be a mental disorder either, because technically there's enough human in anthropomorphic characters to be proper for mating (OH GOD OH MAN). The only real categorization left is fetish, it fits the description perfectly. To be fair, the fetish itself can't be chosen. If you have it you're stuck with it and you can't get rid of it. That being said, however, many people who have it choose to participate in the community. THIS is what makes them furries, not the fetish. Flamboyant furries make me angry. Like the one's the videos posted. However, the ones who don't make it way too obvious, and are on the down-low on it, don't make me angry. The reason the furry fandom is stereotyped so badly and criticized so much is that people only see the idiots, the lowlifes, and the anti-social retards that make up a fraction of the community that write a page and a half of text on their steam page about being a fictitious animal they so creatively thought up, and making videos about how hard it is to keep their ideals to themselves and they need to reach out to a crowd of people with the same problems. Non-furries and furries both have equal blame in the whole shitstorming, if furries would just shut the fuck up and realize no one needs to know what you're into, and if non-furries would just shut the fuck up, stop stereotyping, and stop giving them attention we'd prolly be able to filter out some of this drama.
