There's where we differ then.
I really didn't like De-Loused. and it probably was something akin to that that made me really hate Bedlam.
As long as Frances exists with it's incomparable masterpieces Cyrgnus.. Vismund Cygnus, Miranda .... ..... .... .... .... ......., and Cassandra Gemini.
Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Don't get me wrong - I love all the albums, De-Loused just happens to be loved more than the others.
I love Bedlam, but it doesn't have the longevity of their other albums for me.
It lacks atmosphere. Frances, Deloused, Amp, they all had atmosphere, you know? They were monolithic and mysterious. All 3 are in my top 5 albums ever. Bedlam is amazing, but it's missing something for me.
As far as Octahedron news goes, there's nothing much at the moment. The first review is out, but it's hardly a review. It's from Filter, so it's no surprise that they name the two singles as the standout tracks.
First Impressions: Mars Volta, Octahedron
by Staff | 05.05.2009
The Mars Volta
Octahedron
Warner
Release Date: 6/23
Tracklisting:
1. Since We’ve Been Wrong
2. Teflon
3. Halo of Nembutals
4. With Twilight As My Guide
5. Cotopaxi
6. Desperate Graves
7. Copernicus
8. Luciforms
First Impressions:
-Octahedron begins with a singular note that makes you think your speakers are broken but then surprisingly, in streams a pleasant and calm guitar intro and Cedric Bixler Zavala’s melancholy voice crooning on about what seems like lost love mixed in metaphors of time and distance. “Since We’ve Been Wrong” is a mellow Mars Volta treat.
-“Cotopaxi” shows the band’s punk roots while mixing wah-wahs and distortions with moody catchy chants that would make prog rockers grin from ear to ear.
-Just because Octahedron is more placid than past Mars Volta albums doesn’t mean there isn’t room for sweet, sweet solos. “Desperate Graves” ends with a slow electric guitar solo, while "Luciforms" starts with drive-by guitar sounds that lead to a more than decent solo towards the end, blending into a sea of keys and drums.
Key Tracks:
“Since We’ve Been Wrong,” “Cotopaxi,” "Luciforms"
Predictions:
While Mars Volta may consider Octahedron their "acoustic" album, it is far from traditional acoustics: i.e. there are electrics! There are actually so many intricacies in this record, it's hard to just listen once.

Also, a little announcement from Sargent House, the distributor for Rodriguez-Lopez Productions:

New mars volta album is stunning. Seriously so smooth - vinyl out on Rodriguez Lopez Productions, fierce packaging it will be.
Fierce packaging? Anyone have a towel?
I think I just Jizzed In My Pants.
i'm excited.
Damn I'm so stoked.
So I just started dating this girl. I had her, her friend and her friend's boyfriend (who is also a good friend of mine) in my jeep. We had Mars Volta cranking while driving and I really got the two girls into them. My girl's friend actually texted me for song names. She added Eriatarka and France The Mute (hell yes I fucking love FtM) to her MySpace page. I'm stoked that I got someone else into them because not many people I hang out with where I live are into this kind of music.
Nice dude. All my attempts have failed. Haha.

I've got 4 people to like them. They only download singles though instead of the full albums which is a vital part of listening to Volta.
Listening to Frances again, amazing.
I listened through Amputechture tonight. I love that album. Especially the first three tracks.

For about the past week i've only been listening to TMV... Everything else just seems so boring lately.
I posted my 5 favorite singers on Facebook today through an app. The list included Cedric Bixler Zavala x5
Cryptomnesia is pretty cool. The drums are crazy as poop.
Zach Hill is a fucking robot.
I'm trying to not listen to any Volta until Octahedron is out, but it's very difficult.

Haha, fuck that. I can't go a day without listening to Mars Volta. They've become my favorite all time band; I'm known around my town by everyone my age that I'm in love with a band nobody else really likes. It's awesome.
haha, if others knew about my music taste some of them would de-friend me
Yeah, if you have "weird" music taste, the best thing to do is just not talk to people about music unless they like the same stuff you do. You'll just end up getting pissed off, pissing them off, or both.

Haha, I did that question too.
I had Cedric, Brandon Boyd, Trent Reznor, Chris Cornell and Maynard James Keenan.
mine would be matthew bellamy, chris cornell, fleet foxes if they have a lead singer, julian casablancas, and cedric.
and thom york, matisyahu, everyone in grizzly bear, eugene hutz, lead singer of the darkness, bon iver(forgot his name), lead singer of arcade fire, and, of course, andy samberg.
Someone ripped the high quality version of Cotopaxi from a promo CD, PM me if you want it.
It sounds so much better than the crappy radio rip.
HOLY SHIT YES!!!
Me and my best friend Dan ordered 2 tickets to see them on the 13th in london!
I just listened to Mega Ritual some more, thank you Cerpin Taxt, for that one.
Dispanec Triage is so good.
