Less than a week and then I finally get to listen to the album! I can't believe I've held out this long..
I salute you sir! My friend is holding out too, I keep wanting to blast out some Luciforms when we're driving around haha.
Can't wait to get this album, been recently getting into the Mars Volta.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow
Just picked up my copy of Octahedron.
I wish I had bought tickets to see them in Ventura... sounds like it was a good show. My band's covering Cicatriz ESP. Aren't we cool.
Copernicus is fuckin' awesome.
I'm going to a Rancid concert today. My album should be back when I return tomorrow. :D
There is a concert in few months near my place, I don't if you should get there, never heard of it. But looks quite awesome.
They're coming next week to Sweden to play at Arvika Festivalen. Unfortunately got no cash, and I VERY recently started liking their songs.

Copernicus is maybe the coolest song they've ever made maybe
New album is sooo sexy.
If anyone wants to order the LP: http://hellomerch.com/sh/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=46&Itemid=2 Pretty sure the slipmats are gone by now, but you never know.
The Cryptomnesia vinyl looks sweet on my wall. Loving my decision to hang it.
Just got Octahedron, I got Cryptomnesia a while ago while I was in California, I fucking love it. I'm on the first song in Octahedron. I'm worried though... I got it from Target, does everyone's album not include a "PARENTAL ADVISORY" logo? I'm afraid mine is clean.
Fuck. I forgot to get the new album when I went out today.
:( I was sad that I heard most of the album before I owned it, who makes four singles?!
I got my album from HMV, and it didn't have a parenteral advisory sticker.
I still haven't gotten my copy. And I pre-ordered the t-shirt/album package a week before release. What the fuck is taking so long?
I love the Mars Volta. My facebook status was "has been De-Loused in the Comatorium" for like 2 months. Great Band. I really want their new album!!!
Unfortunetly, I haven't given it a proper listen - but the listen I did get (was busy installing Ghostbusters) Copernicus and Luciforms... i did not like them
Copernicus is maybe the coolest song they've ever made maybe
Highly highly disagree. Sounds like a Red Hot Chili Pepper song. [editline]04:08AM[/editline]
Copernicus is maybe the coolest song they've ever made maybe
Highly highly disagree. Sounds like a Red Hot Chili Pepper song in the beginning. And the chorus.
Yeah, Copernicus is the worst song on the album in my opinion. I really just hate the vocal filter, it sounds like there's 10 feet of water between you and his voice. The bridge is cool, because his voice sounds great without the filter. Also, the drum machine is skillfully done.
The best part about the band is the drummer prodigy they have, Thomas Pridgen. He was the youngest person in history to ever get endorsed by Zildjian at the age of 14!
I've had Frances the Mute for a while, but I'm just now actually listening to it. These guys are pretty sick, and their singer can WAIL! They're very proggy and just plain awesome.
There's a part in With Twilight as my Guide that sounds a lot like the part before the climax in GY!BE's East Hastings.
I think a theme of Octahedron is something like Hostages, Entrapment, Kidnapping, something like that. Copernicus seems totally like a kidnapping. Maybe, it's a story of the Kidnapper struggeling with what he's done, how Halo of Nembutals seems like it's talking about sin. I dunno. Also, I'm not saying Copernicus is bad - I just don't find it the most amazing TMV song, I really like the last parts of it. [editline]05:32AM[/editline] That'd be cool if it were, I'm excited for them to say what it's about. [editline]05:43AM[/editline] Or Religious Sacrifices, Cult maybe? I dunno again
I thought it was funny when they said Octahedron was supposed to be an 'acoustic' album, but I guess it is a bit toned-down for them. I'm really excited to listen to all the songs; I've only heard a couple so far but they're great. A friend of mine told me that The Mars Volta usually has a member or two that's really high when playing live, anyone know if that's true? I think the way they play live is really neat, the whole drawn out jam session type thing, you know.

[editline]12:26AM[/editline] Maybe, you're onto something with the cults or some kind of religious sect, especially with the lyrics in Since We've Been Wrong. Also, Copernicus is an astronomer that said the Earth isn't the center of the universe. [editline]12:47AM[/editline] Maybe it's about someone on Death Row, Nembutals are used in some places for the Death Penalty.
