They have such incredibly odd song names "Cygnus: A. Sarcophagi, B. Umbilical Syllables C.Facillis Descenus Averni, D. Con Safo"
Simply astounding
I love it. Some of their stage antics remind me of those of Phish.

Yes. Yes it is.
De-Loused is such a great album.
I have their other albums, but I haven't really listened to any of the others near as much as De-Loused.

I just bought De-Loused. It's my favorite album as a whole, but my favorite song by them is Frances The Mute.
Listening to Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt right now.
So class.
I want to see them live more than anything.
Edit:
I have Frances the Mute on my profle on myspace, if anyone wants to listen to it.

such a fantastic song.

Add me and check out my page. It's awesome.
Bump because i'm listening to De-loused in the Comatorium and there's too many shitty bands on the front page
Be happy, after playing ACL they said they're currently recording a new studio album. I hope it goes back to the De-loused style.
That would be sick
Bedlam in Goliath is epic but De-loused is epicx100
De-Loused is one of the greatest albums ever. It's just plain amazing...
Funny that this thread got bumped and the discussion is about De-Loused after what happened last night..
I was partying at an apartment complex, and my friend's neighbors were outside and Dropkick Murphys came on, blaring from their room. I raised my beer and yelled "Fuck yeah!" to them.
They seemed alright if they were listening to DM, so I walked over to say hello and ended up getting into a (somewhat drunken) conversation with them over assorted music. Turns out one of them was also named Ben(My RL name). He asked me what my favorite band was I replied, "The Mars Volta." (For those that know me, yeah Nine Inch Nails was my favorite for a long time, but I discovered these guys earlier this year and have been creaming myself over their music ever since.)
I had a blast talking to them over extremely loud (but awesome) music, enjoying a few drinks and just plain having fun. Everyone hanging there had really great musical tastes that didn't start with T and end in Pain. I really can't wait to go back and hang out with those guys again soon!
They've been playing a bitchin jam recently, I hope it's on the new album.
Check it out.

Oh Lordy, if any of you are into Omars solo work, a new album was announced AND released today on Stones Throw Records. It's called "Old Money".
Fuckin hell, Omar is the man!
EDIT:
Also, the jam in my above post has been reworked into the opening track of Old Money.
I only have one album
De-Loused In The Comatorium
I'm not sure if I like it, is it a good album compared to their other stuff?

Yes yes yes yes yes
I'm getting around to learning Roulette Dares on guitar, the slow bits are the most frustrating ironically :/
Thomas Pridgen is a sweet drummer.
If you like bands like this, check out Coheed & Cambria.
Wax Simulacra won a Grammy tonight! Woot!
I don't get the fuzz about TBiG, I really, really disliked the album compared to their other stuff, well, I'm not sure if it's worse than De Loused.

Deloused is their best album, by far, in my opinion.
But Bedlam is still very good.
Worst album has to be the Mr. Muggs picture disc single. Although I think it's really a joke, since it's a song off Omar's solo album, reversed, essentially.
I fucking LOVE the Mars Volta. I have Frances, De-Loused, and Bedlam. De-loused is my personal favorite, but I love all of their stuff. I've always found it interesting how crazy their stage antics are (especially Cedric's) but how he hates moshing.
They're so hard to get into if you haven't heard their style... but after hearing Amputechture I'm in love.
I actually got into them after hearing The Widow once, I must be chosen or something.

Considering I'm into a lot of music generally called "inaccessible", I would have to agree with you because it took me a while to love them. The Bedlam got me interested but never fully clicked until I got De-Loused. Now I think they're fucking amazing.
I like At The Drive-In a lot better than TMV. They just had a certain raw energy that I've never heard in TMV.

I love Goliath, but nothing beats De-Loused. It's by far their best album in my opinion. I can listen to that album over and over and it never gets old. Just as awesome as the first time I listened to it.
New album should drop late summer/early fall. Can't wait!

They announced a new album? Where the FUCK have I been? Link?

I have to say I'm about equal in my likes of AtDI and TMV. I like Sparta a little bit less, but they're still good.
I like AtDI because of their post-hardcore sound, but TMV is more of that progressive rock influence they had back in the day.

Mars Volta guitar player and musical mastermind Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's tells Spinner that the next two Mars Volta records are already recorded and waiting for a release date -- this on the heels of a Grammy nomination for 'Wax Simulcra,' off last year's 'The Bedlam in Goliath.'
2 count 'em 2!
Also I like his quote about the Grammy's:
As for that Grammy nod, Rodriguez-Lopez isn't playing it entirely cool. "I'm not gonna pretend like, 'Yeah, man, that doesn't mean s---,'" he says. "It's not validating me or putting me down. It's like if someone invites you over to their house for dinner. It's nice of them if they invite you into their home, so you accept it and go over and see whether it's awkward or not."

Wow. That's fucking awesome. Omar is the fucking man.
There's a reason this man is listed as a "hero" on my myspace page. This gives even more reason:
"I gave the band a six-month break," he says. "I'm not trying to force my pace. I'll just be here doing what I'm doing, recording more albums. When the time comes, the time comes."
