He is my hero as well, as cliche as that sounds.
His work ethic and dedication to his vision are very inspiring.

He's a musical genius, that's for sure.
He's one of my great musical heroes, along with Cedric, Trent Reznor, and a few others.
Does anyone listen to Omar's solo work?

I absolutely love it.
And I love your username.
And I love your avatar.
I think we should fuck.
Hahaha.
My place.
7 o'clock.
Bring the lube.
and i'll watch
I've got the camera. No honestly Omar's solo shit is insane, except for Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Jeremy Michael Ward. There were SOME musical qualities to it, but it mainly just seemed to be them fucking around all doped up. Anyways Frances the Mute definitely grows on you, and to be honest, Bedlam in Goliath grows old. Especially when you try to play your instrument along to the song Goliath (Bass Guitar for me)
I've got the binoculars to watch from the tree.
I used to be big into De-Loused but I absolutely love every song on Bedlam in Goliath.
Rite now I love The Bible and the Breathalyzer, Ambuletz, and Frances the Mute. Great songs off of A Missing Chromosome

Oooh. I'm jealous.
What is it? It's packaging is very sexy
One of Omar's solo albums.
AWWWWWWWWW SHIT
Not a new Volta album, but the next best thing:

The Omar/Cedric/Juan/Zach Hill collaboration is finally coming out, and it sounds like it will make me pee blood for a week.
Sounds sick as hell!
No better than Tool. Mainstream rock that tries to act like it's not mainstream rock.
Mainstream in exposure and distribution? Yes. But the music? No.

Yes to both.

Yeah man! So mainstream. :S
Yes to both.
Yeah dude this stuff is exactly like the stuff you hear on the radio 24 hours a day. You know like Nickelback etc.
Yes to both.
Agree to disagree I suppose.
More info on Cryptomnesia:
El Grupo Nuevo De Omar Rodriguez Lopez - Cryptomnesia
Cryptomnesia is the first release in a series of three albums recorded in 2006 by EL GRUPO NUEVO DE OMAR RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ. Despite the name of the group, Rodriguez Lopez is quick to point out that THE MARS VOLTA remains far and away his top priority. EL GRUPO NUEVO... is differentiated from the guitarist's other namesake projects by his selection of players,
specifically Zach Hill (HELLA) on drums, Jonathan Hischke (HELLA) on synth bass, and Juan Alderete de la Peña (THE MARS VOLTA) on bass guitar. Additionally, Cryptomnesia features the vocals of guest frontman Cedric Bixler Zavala on eight of the album's eleven tracks. Rodriguez Lopez completed the album in 2006, shortly after finishing THE MARS VOLTA's Amputechture. Cryptomnesia's tracks are a decidedly heavier affair than that album, a conscious decision on his part to switch gears from writing horn arrangements and complex instrumentation for an octet; it is, therefore, comparatively stripped-down and aggressive, with Hill's presence injecting a dose of chaos and inertia that are a keystone of the EL GRUPO NUEVO... sound. Bixler Zavala's vocals, tracked in 2008 after two years of his dwelling on the enormity of the recording, are certain to send even the most casual of listeners running for their lyric sheet. The ever-prolific Rodriguez Lopez continues to set the bar higher and higher for himself. EL GRUPO NUEVO DE OMAR RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ has been the stuff of rumors for three years; Cryptomnesia proves more than worth the wait.
A special limited advance vinyl offering of only 3,000 copies will be made available exclusively to Indie Retail in honor of Record Store Day on April 18th. Album will see it’s official release on cd, vinyl and digital everywhere on May 5, 2009.

What a tracklisting. Hahaha. THEY"RE COMING FOR YOU BARBARA! I'm so stoked.
With fresh Omar solo releases and LP 5 on the horizon, 2009 looks like a great year to be a Volta fan.
One of my favourite bands of all time. Best prog band at the moment.
Cedric and Omar are legendary, I have ATDI albums, Defacto album, Omar solo albums and every Volta album. I'm listening to Goliath at the moment.
Edit: I will respect you if you have listened to the whole of Cassandra Gemini.
Um, Cassandra Gemini is one of my favorite songs, and I have many a time just sat down and only listened to that song.
Televators is my favorite song by them.

Great song. I'm currently really fucking addicted to the song Agadez, track #8 on The Bedlam In Goliath. It's been stuck in my head for over a week now.
I really don't get what's the good thing about TBiG at all. Luckily Omar's solo work still rocks. Does anybody know if Mega Ritual is any good?
Well, the first track on heart grows Fungus ( and a lot of calibration ) was REALLY punk rock, but otherwise I like his stuff a lot.

It's a fantastic album. I love it.

Megaritual is pretty good, it's in his top 5 I think.
Also: What's so good about Bedlam?
Thomas Pridgen. Really, the whole album is just showing off their shiny new drummer.
Cool beans, might try to get it then. Do you people have any idea how hard it was to find their stuff on youtube before Amputechture and TBiG, it's crazy how much attention they get now, and seems to be mostly from the right kind of people too!
