fucking loooooove them, top 5 band for sure.
Yeah, Pridgen really is amazing in Bedlam. It's worth buying just to hear him.
:OOoOO not even funny i was literally just playing "the widow" what the fuck dude
One of my favourite bands of all time. Best prog band at the moment. Cedric and Omar are legendary, I have ATDI albums, Defacto album, Omar solo albums and every Volta album. I'm listening to Goliath at the moment. Edit: I will respect you if you have listened to the whole of Cassandra Gemini.
How can anyone NOT listen to it? It's so sexy! It's not even repetitive in the slightest. Progressive! :D
Sounds very bland and boring to me. I'm sure they're good, this just really isn't my type of music.
Goliath is the album that got me into the band, but it's not my favourite. Deloused, Frances and Amputechture are all just perfect, amazing albums. I think the only beef I have with Goliath is that I listened to it non-stop for a few weeks... Still, it's amazing. You can see why Wax Simulacra got the grammy.
Sounds very bland and boring to me. I'm sure they're good, this just really isn't my type of music.
You can't call Mars Volta bland at all. Listen to Frances the Mute or Bedlam in Goliath.
So, Omar is touring Europe right now, playing some solo shows. The group for this tour includes: Omar Rodriguez Lopez Juan Alderete De La Pena Marcel Rodriguez Lopez Thomas Pridgen Xinema Mark Andromeda I know it says 2008, that's just a typo. 5 of those songs are unreleased, Omar says they will be on another solo record out this summer. Someone asked Omar about the next Volta record after one of the shows, he said it's scheduled for release in June, but I'm not getting my hopes up, status quo is for the label to delay it. Now for some vids, these are from the shows on the 9th and 10th.
[img_thumb]http://www.vera-groningen.nl/assets/photos/omarrodriguez_2009/omarz4.jpg[/img_thumb]
OH GOD LOL. Omar is just amazing. Such an inspiration. I love Please Heat This Eventually; especially the call and response bit between the guitar and sax. :D
http://www.facepunch.com/group.php?groupid=1625 Also, I got the Omar Rodriguez Sig. Guitar a little while back. It plays like sex.
The Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group recorded a session at Madia Vale last week, PM me if you want it. It's outstanding. They played Boiling Death Request, How to Bill the Bilderberg Group, and Los Flores Con Limon (That's all that was broadcast at least).
My brother just got me into them, and I am so glad he did. I only have Frances the mute, but I am loving it! About to put on my headphones and just listen. I haven't done that in a while!
The album's 10 times better with headphones.
Sounds fantastic on my Bose speakers. God I love these so much.
News on LP5: According to http://www.monstersandcritics.de/artikel/200913/article_130705.php/The-Mars-Volta-|-Neues-Album-und-Tour-im-Juni, LP5 will be out June 19th and will be title "Octahedron". Approximate translation:
On June 19, 2009, The Mars Volta will release their fifth studioalbum. This new work will be called "Octahedron". The Mars Volta were found in 2001 by Cedric and Omar. The album by the band that started when the legendary At The Drive-In broke up, was produced by founding member Omar himself. Their previous albums "De-Loused In The Comatorium" (2003), co-produced by Rick Rubin, "Frances The Mute" (2005), "Amputechture" (2006) and "The Bedlam In Goliath" (2008) were musical masterpieces, and did not fill the gap that At The Drive-In had left, but it brought the band and their always changing live-line-up a further level in their artistic creatings. The German fans of the band are lucky next summer: THE MARS VOLTA live: 20.06.2009 – Hurricane Festival 21.06.2009 – Southside Festival 29.06.2009 - Düsseldorf - Stahlwerk
EDIT: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s2528267.htm
The Mars Volta have just announced they’ll release their fifth studio album in June. It's titled Octahedron and it's been produced by guitarist Omar Rodriguez himself. A press release from the band's label promises it's "much more accessible than the previous four" Mars Volta LPs. The band will tour Europe through their summer. No news yet on an Australian tour.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I'm so fucking excited.
So am I. God damn! Here's to hoping Universal doesn't delay it like they did with Bedlam.
I'll cry. I'm extremely pumped up right now for this.
In your visceraaaaaa eyeeeeeeeees. Cateracts close the bliiiiinds.
I've had Ouroboros stuck in my head for the last week. Fucking love that song.
Hate to go semi off topic again, but the 2nd trailer for Cryptomnesia was released. Sounds dank as fuck, I cannot wait until April 18th.
I just got some stuff they scare me a bit
I was just about to post about the new album, can't wait. Cryptomnesia and Octahedron in the space of a month. Also, what's the song that goes like "Don't you ever, ever, ever trust my mercy" ? I think it's Ouroboros but I can't remember.
Yeah, that's Ouroboros.
That's funny. I just came home from work and I had Ouroboros cranked up all the way home. Such a fucking awesome song.
I wish their new work could match the brilliance of Deloused and Frances.
I wish their new work could match the brilliance of Deloused and Frances.
Deloused felt like a ATDI album with more guitar wankery. Bedlam and Amputechture are the best imo. Frances is good too though. Honestly, Bedlam is amazing. Edit: Listening to Ouroboros again, the part that starts at 4:32 is amazing.
Well, personally I love all of their albums. (Especially the track Frances the Mute) Bedlam is amazing and Ouroboros is a fantastic song. Haha, I'll be driving to work and some days it'll be a little slower getting there or home and I'll rewind Ouroboros when it finishes back to about 4:00 and listen to that two minutes again because it's so awesome.
I wish their new work could match the brilliance of Deloused and Frances.
I agree. I love Amputechture and Bedlam, but Frances and Deloused had something special, that's for sure. I'm driving myself crazy, I'm so stoked for Cyrptomnesia and Octahedron.
This year is gonna be awesome for music. So many albums coming out. I'll be listening to music non stop!
