The Youth of today and their relationship with Policemen
some people become police officers because they enjoy the power, and they want to be able to lord over people. I can see a lot of that mindset in the law enforcement footsoldiers where I live.

I never said it always happens, I'm saying it happens more than it should, which is at all.
it doesn't happen as much as you think it does
the only reason you know about it is because it's been reported or recorded and if you look at all of the happenings in an entire year then those happenings are minuscule to the good things a cop does in a single year

you think that because a peaceful arrest makes bad news
it barely happens at all, but when it does happen it gets reported
pretty much what that guy up there said

I personally just think that when someone is given as much power as a police officer is, you should treat them with a degree of skepticism.
Words cannot describe how much that video pisses me off, hope that coward chunk of shit got what was coming to him.
He's currently awaiting execution. He was meant to be killed in May 2003 but he's using the insanity plea and heabus corpus to try and wriggle his way out of responsibility.
I personally just think that when someone is given as much power as a police officer is, you should treat them with a degree of skepticism.
of course you should
you guys aren't treating them with skepticism, you're treating them with hostility
you take one bad cop and assume every police officer is like that
That scream.... How ruthless the vet was... I felt inexplicable anger and also pretty sad. I wish the guy ended up suffering the same fate of slow execution instead of just being shot at the wall.

no I take one bad cop, and think 'hmm, maybe the police aren't the all-shining knights of righteousness'. I've never stated that I hold hostility towards police officers, I just regard them at arms length. It's the way the world works, if a guy is given a large stick to hit people with, I may be a slight bit suspicious that they are on my side.
My dad is a police officer.
Now I exeunt this thread, it's 2:30 in the morning
Why the hell do you people continue debating about wither police officers are complete dickheads or nice people? (Not talking about the thread in general.)
Sure, there are some police officers that are corrupt and let the power get to their heads, but at the same time there are very nice police officers. My mother knows a few who are very nice guys, and try their hardest to avoid violence in any situation.
Also, that scream nearly made me burst into tears/vomit. :saddowns:

that's like saying you take one bad black person and immediately distrust all black people
so you're being racist against police officers
He called for backup long before the rifle was revealed but he never had a chance to radio in the gun.
The cop was also shot in the arms, legs, and almost every other open extremity, which kinda stopped him from being able to shoot right.
He does actually radio in the gun.
"Guy's got a gun, I need some help here!"
I wish I hadn't watched that video.
I used to do a lot of volunteer work at my local police station. The officers I worked with were some of the nicest, funniest people I've ever met. They're just people. They're enforcing the law like they were taught, but everyone yells at them because they're doing their job. It's wrong. Anybody that calls officers "pigs" or "disgusting" are bitter because they're too immature to accept the fact that what they're doing is wrong.
When I did my volunteer work, people would yell at me, flip me off etc. and I was in a volunteer uniform. When you think about it, it's really obvious why some officers are always angry or frustrated; people treat them like shit.
Whenever I see an officer, I like to go up to them and just talk with them. It makes them feel a lot better and it'll make you feel good and look like a good, functioning member of society.

I watched the video in the OP at my academy. The room was dead silent. I had never heard silence like it before.
The police around here are bad. I got put in a cop car and nearly arrested for pure bullshit. If anyone cares I'll tell the story.
My best wishes go out to that cops family :ohdear:
dicks
Poor guy is fucked up in the head from the shit he's seen in Vietnam. It was a horrible war, a breeding ground for post-traumatic stress disorder.
which absolves him of absolutely nothing
8/10 of the policemen I have run into are complete and total assholes. The funny thing is, I'm not doing anything wrong. I waved at a cop once and he detained me for 45 minutes because he thought I was mocking him while on drugs or something.
However, I have run into awesome police officers as well. I rode along with one and we talked about all sorts of shit. We responded to a robbery of a local electronics shop later on and I got to watch him tackle the fuck out of someone. The backup officer was a dick though.
Go figure.
In response to this:
My friend's friend was smoking a doobie and a cop starts walking over. He takes it out of his hand and says, "What is this?"
"A joint." He snickered.
"And what do we do with joints?"
"Uhh, smoke them?"
The cop shakes his head and says, "No, you throw it away so I can't charge you with anything."
So he puts it out and runs.

there's no proof he was a vet, however
There's more strawmen in these arguments than fucking Burning Man if it took place in the wonderful land of Oz.

according to news articles, he was

I used to live in the safest city in my country. That sort of stuff happened when I visited other surrounding cities that are poorer. I was just directing traffic and this guy pulled up asked me where he could park, I told him, and then he flipped me off and threw profanities at me. When he peeled out, I laughed and my partner was confused.
Even though that kind of stuff was pretty common, I loved doing the volunteer work.

How dare people question their all-knowing parents
I'm 16, I had a chat to a cop once over a fued I was in.
I was assaulted etc, but because the guy ran, the cops said they can't fullfill the investigation, they told me straight that them the rules.
Some of them are cool guys, but others a real cunts.
i work with cops from time to time
seems that generally they are at ends with criminals, not normal people. not too shocking
When people say "Fuck the police" around where I live, its usually directed towards the police of my township. These guys make up stories, abuse their power, and it really doesn't help that the people who live around here are ass holes.
I went to a CVS with a bunch of friends, we bought some food, and such. As we were leaving the store, we were greeted by 3 cops. They told us that some one reported us to them for cursing, and stealing. We didn't do that though. As we were being arrested some cop was dropping the F-bomb more then they were told we did.
Another story, my brother was being arrested for getting in a car with a dealer. He didn't have money, wasn't planning on buying anything, and wasn't planning on smoking anything. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. On the report, they said my brother was selling another kid $75 worth of weed.
That video at the end, I had to pause it.
Dinkheller almost got him, but missed by inches. You can see the window of the pickup smash behind the suspect as the cop fires.
