Cops are just people trying to make a living like everyone else in society. The good ones don't deserve the flak they get.
The second the vet touched a gun, the cop had the right to shoot him under the Continuum of Force.
I grew being taught that cops are your friend and yadda yadda yadda. I've always respected law enforcement officials and I've always and still look up to them. Every time i hear something about police brutality I just cringe. I'm not blind though, I can see when a cop is in the wrong or when a civilian is in the wrong.
I took a few law enforcement and public safety classes so I can understand why a cop does what he does. In that situation, the cop hesitated and just hearing his screams is just.....awful and seeing people condone a cop getting hurt is just appalling and downright ignorant.
You all may have your bad experiences with cops but not all of them are assholes by any means.

At my High School, there are two police officers that guard the entrances, and the auditorium during events. Usually they're pretty laid back and they actually treat me and my friends like bros.
I've only had good experiences with the police.

The cop completely overreacted. They were just trying to have fun on [highlight]GO SKATEBOARDING DAY[/highlight] and what appears to happen is the cop just pulled him off the skateboard and strangled him. Sure he did run away, but that's probably just because he was scared. Then the policeman arrests all of them, even though they all complied and were all very reasonable.
This is the main reason why people don't like them, is because 1 out of every 10 cops do freak out over nothing. Also, they weren't skating on private property.
There was a police officer in my town who was fatally wounded, sitting buckled up, in his police car.
Then, his fucking compatriot went on, and slammed another Police officer in the face with a tool box before the police officer shot him. These FUK DA POLIC attitudes are getting old.

Some people treat police badly because they've either had bad experiences with a "bad" cop, or know someone who has, usually an older family member. Nowadays, every cop I've encountered personally wanted only to keep the peace. As for OP's video, I was fucking disturbed by the end, and glad to find out that that crazy fucker got sentenced to death. Some say "Good, another vet treated badly by a cop, the cop deserved it." No, he did not. The cop in the video did NOT deserve being shot repeatedly in areas known not to be covered by a protective vest. The suspect was deranged, evidenced by his initial reaction, and subsequent treatment toward the officer. The cop was doing his godamn job, for chrissakes. He even called the guy "sir" as much as he could, in an attempt to reason with him. He followed protocol, but was ultimately too slow on the draw, an instinct instilled in new officers BECAUSE of these idiots that think the police are all out to get them. These guys are taught to always give the suspect the benefit of the doubt, and to essentially give the suspect the first attack, because there are people in this country that will sue over a dead relative, even if the dead relative was shot for pointing a gun at someone and talking about pulling the trigger. I hope anyone with those stupid "fuck the police" ideals that watches that video understands that it's because of THEM that cops die like that, that fellow human beings are killed in such stupid situations. Now I can't get those screams out of my head. Knowing that those are the death screams of a man just trying to do his fucking job. The man had a wife and kid, and some crazy bastard killed him over a traffic stop. Why the hell...just, why the hell, America?
I have a bias against police officers. Not against the rule of law, but Im skeptical of anybody who chooses to be a police officer. Most people choose work they like because it gives them a sense of satisfaction; if somebody gets a sense of satisfaction by handing out traffic tickets and policing others, then I can't help but be wary of their intentions. They are either a power-tripping dick, they are ignorant to the purpose of their profession, or they have a childish sense of justice and law and want to play policeman.
