The Youth of today and their relationship with Policemen
There are cops in my city that will literally pull you over WITHOUT probable cause, just to tell you you're being searched, and if god forbid I don't have my medical card on me, they instantly consider me the worst kind of criminal. It's disgusting. They try to steal medicine from legit patients (happens a lot with clinics getting shut down) and DO. The previous poster who mentioned are laws are at fault you are correct, but the current system, ie; the police, congress, etc. are all incapable of doing anything to make it right.
You know the opposite of progress, is congress, right?
what ass-backwards country do you live in?
Oh yeah, carrying illegal substances. That's no biggy. Let that slide. Speeding however, that's serious shit, we should shoot speeders on sight.
huh
weed doesn't kill. speeding does
I have quite a few cop friends, including an ex police chief of the biggest city in the tri-state area.
Cops can be really cool motherfuckers.
Too few and far between. For every cop who's 'cool' there are 15 more violating someones rights as we speak.
[del]Hezzy[/del] Mr. Gestapo is a policeman
Actually a special cunstable
what ass-backwards country do you live in?
The kind it hurts to realize isn't 'the land of the free' after all.
Edit: automerge
This one time I left my back-pack zipper wide open and a police man pointed it out before something could have fell out of it so I thanked him.
Theres a limit on the length of knife blades? In the US?!?!
3 inches in Detroit to legally carry concealed for protection
there's a cool black cop who caught me and a friend ditching from our 4th period, and he told us we had 7 minutes to get back on campus or he was gonna track our asses down
the youth don't like police because the youth want to do illegal things and police have to stop them doing the illegal things. It's a fair relationship I think. Around where I live the police definitely seem iffy though, there's just something off about them.

Happened to one of my friends once, except in my town the cop for the high school is an ex-L.A. Gang control cop, so let's just say in his eyes if you've got a bag of melted hershey's chocolate then you're trying to commit a felony. My friend got expelled, and it was probably within the last week of his senior year when it happened. My friend was guilty until proven innocent, as time and time again cops are beginning to switch to that method of thinking. They come to the conclusion you are committing a crime before they have probable cause to arrest you for doing so, cops make me sick.
At this point, I'm absolutely disgusted with how people of my generation see Police Officers. I hear too much of the common "Fuck the Police" mindsets around school. While there are some cases of Policemen abusing power, that does not classify all of them. There are threads in the News section that break down into a clash of whether the cop was in the right or wrong. Sometimes the choice is unclear, and sometimes it's bright as day. There will always be people who are anti-law enforcement 100 percent of the time as far as I'm concerned. A very good example is this video:

Comments like "lol* coppa got fukn owned" infect the comments of it, and that's pretty disturbing to me. Now, discuss your views on Policemen, or other incidents like the video above.
I have more of a problem with teenagers who think they're smarter and wiser than everyone else their age because their parents taught them how to spell and they like to play videogames, and that bellyaching about "kids these days" will somehow make them seem more mature.
Community policing is a complicated phenomenon that is heavily interrelated with social and economic conditions and threads full of dumb shit like "fuck pigs" and "kids these days have no respect" do nothing but make everyone stupider.
e - Except ScoutKing. I don't think he can get any stupider.
If I had a job dealing with addicts and asshole teenagers 24/7 I'd bee a bit peevish, too.
Also can I just point out that questioning the police force and expressing distrust is a healthy thing. If you think about it, how many times have you working fellows thought about being on the take, or doing something dodgy to make life easier? The pinkies are no different.
That video was kinda hard to watch near the end :frown:
For some reason the cops where I live (Near UCLA and Santa Monica) are pretty chill. Few years ago I was out smoking marijuana with my friends in his backyard and someone apparently called the cops and one rolled up in his patrol car and came into the backyard and caught us. He just told us that he got a call from a neighbor complaining about the smell coming from the house over and told us to smoke inside or do it somewhere it won't bother the neighbors. Told us to have a nice day and then left. Didn't take our stuff or anything at all from us :v:

good thing you're not a cop then

I have more of a problem with cops who think they're higher and mightier than everyone else because they're taught how to abuse peoples rights and take away their freedoms, and that their position of power somehow makes them more deserving of being treated with rights than us.

Every time I see this video, it just breaks my soul. For the ones that don't know the officer was killed in that video. The Screams get me every time D=
I always thought that the policemen were noble knights of justice. Then I got into trouble when my mates were playing with fire that had nasty consequences. Police came and we ran.
There's your problem

For every cop killed while on duty, there are 50 more civilians killed for no reason at all, by cops like that guy.
also just to even out the outrage in this thread:

I'm not entirely "fuck the police" but I've been on the negative side of them enough to know that they want to get you in trouble more than you don't want to get into it. It's like they get a reward for every kid they punish.
The other day these grounds keepers at a park I go to decided they didn't like the way me and my friends looked. He called the cops AND MADE SHIT UP to get the cop there. Once the cop arrives the grounds keepers were nice about it. "Oh we don't want to press charges or anything we just want them to know we don't want them here again." the cop's response? "Oh well you say the word and they're all getting locked up. I think that would be the best course of action."
We didn't actually do anything wrong but the cop went on for like 10 minutes about how the only logical course of action for getting a bunch of innocent kids out of a park was the put them behind bars. Now I don't believe that the police force as a whole is corrupt but seriously... There's some crazy mother fuckers in there
stupider.
stupider is a word
you're thinking of "more stupider"
Plead the Fourth?
If you deny them the right to search you, they instantly assume you're guilty and have something to hide. This has pretty much always been the case for me regardless of circumstance. If I tell them 'look officer I have nothing to hide I just want to get on my way..' then they take that as a threat. They are used to trampling over what people used to consider a god-given right, but now unwarranted search and seizure is business as usual. That's why they have undercover cops that pull you over without warning, they ask if they can search you and your car and if you say no then they think all the more reason to call in dogs, more cops, etc..

Some cops are bad, and some people are bad.
That's my opinion.

Yeah true. But I still don't think stupider is a word, but maybe my english teacher taught me wrong :v:

your english teacher isn't very bright

yeah, that's kind of what I was trying to get across. Yeah, there are some kids who have an overt hatred of the police, but on the other hand, there is a long history of corruption and violence which contributes to the stigma of being a police officer.
