Even if they are a war veteran, it doesn't make them above the law.
I think thats pretty obvious.
Gardaí always seem to drive by at the worst possible times, but to be honest, in the suburb I live in at least, there are a lot of asshole cops driving around. My friends and I were hanging around by a filling station and one of my friends was kicking a football around, when a guard comes up to him and shouts "does this look like a fucking playground to you" then when my friend answered, started giving him shit for being cheeky.
I know that's only one story, but pretty much everyone around here has a story about guards acting like dickheads, and I suppose it's the safe thing for them to do to assume we're hooligans, but it doesn't help our attitude towards them.
same over here
you're not very smart
yes i am im 10
You don't hear about it because its not news, no one cares when the police DO their job. They only care when they fuck up to have another reason to hate them.
Or if someone dies a horrible death, remember that!
I respect the police unless they give me a reason not to
Pretty much this. Respect is a two way street, police officers are to respect you as much as you are to respect them.
The news never show anything that will brighten your day :smith:

He's making a point that people who don't like the police get it rougher which is a no brainer.
Words cannot describe how much that video pisses me off, hope that coward chunk of shit got what was coming to him.
Or if someone dies a horrible death, remember that!
That's one of the ways someone can fuck up.
out of curiosity, those of you who found it hard to watch the OP's video, did you find it hard to watch the Rodney King video I posted?
About as hard as any other police brutality video, however remember what happened once the video was released: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Los_Angeles_riots
That's one of the ways someone can fuck up.
Well this is all that comes up police related on the news, seriously.
so?
so you would like them, whereas when I get stopped by the police for little to no reason, or my acquaintance gets thrown in jail because he was searched without a warrant and they found weed on him, I tend to get a bad opinion of them.
I remember when I saw that video on Liveleak, didn't know something like that would be allowed on YT.
Glad cops are allowed to shoot whenever they feel threatened.

Well shit like that had been going on for a long time in LA. Plus there was also a degree of that riot which related to prejudice against the Koreans.
I respect the police. I have had a few run-ins with the police here in Sweden, they are always very friendly and wont mind looking the other way for minor offences.
Majority of the police are perfectly respectable and commendable people, but there are so very many cops that it only makes sense that every now and then you'll bump into one that is a douche. The reason you see or read about more misbehaving cops on the Internet is because a misbehaving cop is quite a rare sight, unless you live in a horrible country/state.
He's making a point that people who don't like the police get it rougher which is a no brainer.
i'm just trying to make a point that not all police officers are "pigs"
But I just think it's disgusting that there is such a trend of the men who are supposed to protect us - who are put in a position of power - stomping down on us. The one thing I imagine was running through Rodney's head when he was being beaten was 'why?'
You don't hear about it because its not news, no one cares when the police DO their job. They only care when they fuck up to have another reason to hate them.
Well yeah i know about this. But i mean, i've never seen cops be kind and helping. They always have to be strict and orderly.
For example, local newspaper said a couple cops were called back for an explanation because apparently while supervising people sledding down a hill (only have one here) at least one of them was convinced to go down the hill once.
I mean for fuck sake people, if anything cops need to socialize and shit with the people again.
I hate the idea. Not the individual.
Did anyone see that documentary about Julian Assenge (is that how you spell his second name?) and they showed footage of soldiers who were on patrol in a war zone in a helicopter, shot & killed a man in a van with his kids for no reason?
It's semi related.
Well shit like that had been going on for a long time in LA. Plus there was also a degree of that riot which related to prejudice against the Koreans.
Well yeah, but this was definitely a flare up compared to the usual LA riot.

That ain't the police's job though, it's their job to uphold the law where ever needed, which is the discussion in the thread.

it's the old adage 'you keep poking the bear, it's gonna push back'
so?
So it obviously points out your bias. As another poster mentioned, respect for a group comes from respect earned. My experiences and feelings are just that, based off experience. I live in the subarbs of the OC, of course the cops here are different then your friends who may be sincerely good people out to help their community. My point is, that cops whether its their fault or not are facilititating rights-viotlating procedures and quite frankly don't give a damn. Some moreso than others.

so what you're saying is all law enforcement officers take your rights away? i'm so sad that you have to live in a world where breaking the law is wrong
every post you make convinces me more and more of your overall intelligence, friend
I've found around here that the local police officers are all the biggest assholes, and the state cops are the nicest ones.
so what you're saying is

it's not about the fact that they arrest you, it's about their methods and ways of handling it. For example:
assault an average person: get your court date and a night in the cells
assault a police officer in the same circumstances: get court date, cells time, and a black eye that you don't talk about.

He was saying that the police force facilitate corruption
so what you're saying is

So what your saying is
you dont give a damn your rights are being taken away from you. I'm so sad you live in a world where having rights like not having to deal with unwarranted search and seizure is wrong.

if you hate it so much then get a goddamn lawyer
so it's wrong to fight back?
it's not wrong to fight back, it is wrong to circle the guy who hit your friend, and beat on him. A normal person would get charged for that.

if someone walked up to my friend and hit him i'd pound that fucker
