Hey Russians of Facepunch, I don't know if that kind of answer has been asked and answered here already but I'm kind of curious.
As a Canadian, I don't really feel any bad blood with the Russians but it seems Russia is always portrayed as the big bad in the Western World while I assume in the Eastern World it's probably the opposite where the USA is portrayed as the big bad.
My question is, is it as bad on your side? I've always wondered about your thoughts since it's hard to find legitimate opinions when if you listen to the medias, it's probably a lot of fear-mongering and propaganda shit

Yeah, media has a lot of brainwashing and propaganda (it's like that in every country anyway I would assume), I wouldn't say it's anti-USA now that Trump is in charge but everything is really portrayed through the lens of propaganda on TV for sure.
But seeing as how the recent generations get well with the internet it's a bit easier. Talking politics with anyone is a nightmare for me though, so I try to avoid it, it's a lot of people being fed lies on either side.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I do feel the younger generations are a lot more interconnected and open due to the Internet as opposed to the older generations but I guess old habits die hard.
I've just always been curious because at the end of the day, I know absolutely nothing about Russia and its people except what I see on television and I've never really been one to believe that.
As far as I see though of Russians living in Canada, they're all pretty happy to be here and seem to like us Canucks. Maybe it's the miserable winters we both get.

There's absolutely no reason we shouldn't like you. You suck at hockey though. [sp]/s[/sp]
To be fair, tons of our great players in the NHL are Russians
I want to note the difference. Western media likes to show the Russia as whole to be bad (likely following the logic of "if they voted for the government this evil, they're evil too").
While I had seen a dinstinction of western portrayal in here. American citizens were usually shown as misguided or incapable of doing something against evil GosDep or 5th column. And Obama himself.
This is actually a clever holdout from Soviet era, so no one would ask a question "how can those people behind the pond be evil, if they're just like us?".
