There are plenty of those, but I find it fresh in all the generic photos that happen to be posted here.
You may find it fresh and citrusy but i think it would suit more in the photo off topic thread.

This feels kind of like a random snap of your friend rather than photoshoot style to me, it doesn't feel like much thought has gone into this one. Also have you used sharpening? Because the sun on her face looks too sharp and i think that it doesn't flatter her as well as it could.

Bit too heavy on clarity/sharpness but that's just my opinion (At least mask the clarity/sharpness out on the face, girls want to have smooth skin) [editline]6th June 2012[/editline] Could've centered her more as well

I use sharpen on 99% of all my pics, so yeah I sharpened it. I think youre right about that, i just liked the colors! but thanks
Is that for a school project or something? Because its not really creative photography in my opinion. More like creative fruit homicide.

As long as the photos are something you are proud of, and have some sort of artistic qualities to them, feel free to post them.
Yes, it is, but I don't think there's any need to post it in the Off-topic thread. You don't see many people around here taking pictures of fruit homicide. (Except the guy I stole this idea from) Plus, I don't see it being a problem.

I got my first DSLR camera yesterday and took it out today to learn and test it. I'm still pretty much learning everything on the camera and I've never had an criticism on anything I've done really. It was cloudy today so I just decided to hit a bike trail close to home, I hoped to see birds but that didn't really work out. It was a learning experience for me and I'd like some criticism! Be as harsh as you want, I went out to learn, not to make masterpieces today. I'm contemplating driving over to a community college with a pretty nice campus for some night shooting later. I've been playing with cameras for a while (my roommates Nikon D5000 and my girlfriends Canon EOS something) but I've only had my camera phone for the longest time. It's nice to be able to actually play with a lens and adjust all these settings.
Playing with my camera and learning how to take night photos, I really need a tripod. I hope it's ok to post mediocre learning pictures in this section.
Also does anyone have any tips on getting pictures of small moving insects (ants)? I didn't think I'd want a macro lens and then I realized how cool ants where...
You can get an extension tube that will allow you to use your kit lens as a macro. I just one today actually and have been playing around with it. Main benefit is cost since this only costs around $10 vs a $500+ macro lens. Here are a few example shots taken with my 18-55 kit lens using the extension tube. http://imgur.com/a/n8uhI Here is the one I have, of course you'll have to make sure to get one for your camera make: http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Canon-EOS-Extension-Close-up/dp/B003Y60DZO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1338957066&sr=1-1

It's not a problem but you're not really challenging yourself are you? The hardest part of that whole thing was making the fruit. If you want to advance as a photographer you have to think big and challenge yourself.
What Blaze is getting at (simply put) is that it's creative, but not photography. It's closer to scanning a painting rather than using photographic principles as a creative medium. The photo is showing the art, it's not the art itself. He's not being a dick, he just wants to motivate people to step it up a bit.
alright new content, this is mostly shit, just for my "design" project on relation to heritage buildings and shit IMGP8937.jpg by Inzalonus, on Flickr IMGP8942.jpg by Inzalonus, on Flickr IMGP8935.jpg by Inzalonus, on Flickr

A bit of personal still-life photography here, but the assignment was to "describe something about you. It can a hobby or anything you like". We had to shoot it in a top-down perspective, but I shot one in a slightly different one as well. They are my "bait", sort of.
You have all that empty space to the left of the camera, but the trumpet and particularly the piano (tuner or whatev in the second shot) are on the verge of being cut off. There isn't any balance in the composition. Even though you've arranged the subjects in a spiral, the photo doesn't look thoroughly thought out.
I actually spent an hour composing the picture. Too bad it didn't look so :/

It's pretty good if you get the parameters down right. It sure helps when you're shooting wide angle shots of buildings and such seeing as distortion on straight lines really stands out, and building are just a shitload of lines.
