Aww, at least I think I did an okay job with the ones that had a depth of field effect.
I'm not saying they are bad pictures man, they just lack good lighting or a nice background or a great composition. Not trying to bring you down or anything
Have you tried at smaller apertures? Also, does it still happen when you take photos in more diffused lighting?
Not sure on both. I received it around 8 o'clock my time, no idea why it was delivered that late. More tests will follow tomorrow in broad day-light. I will keep those who're willing to assist updated upon the given situation.

I took this picture of just some trees. As you can see, the leaves are very soft looking. I'm not sure if it's the adapter, or if it's the lens? For this, I'm using an FL 135mm f3.5, with a Skylight Filter on it. Anyone know a solution to the issue I've been having? Any assistance, advice, or ideas are welcome.
Did a bit of infiltration at a train depot. Been here before, just felt like revisiting as they have some different stock there. i liiiike!! guys, i finished off presenting my photography work for an examiner to come and look at.. will post a couple of pictures when its done. I, personally, am really proud of what I have achieved and, even though i'm a shoe in for one of the top marks in the class, i think i have really surpassed my own personal expectations of my abilities.
If there's no glass on the adapter, I don't really see how it can effect image quality, and I think it may be the lenses. That's just my non-expert opinion though
There is glass in FD to EF adapters, and that's probably why his pictures are coming out soft at wide apertures.
Alright, SO, if it's the adapter, how should I go about fixing this issue? What if I were to remove the glass from the adapter?
Alright, SO, if it's the adapter, how should I go about fixing this issue? What if I were to remove the glass from the adapter?
Pretty sure it's because the adapter is shit, and if you remove the glass it probably will stop adapting
Pretty sure it's because the adapter is shit, and if you remove the glass it probably will stop adapting
WELL, there goes $30 I'm not getting back. God dammit.
Ah. Then yeah, it probably is the adapter. I assumed there wasn't glass as the only adapter I've had experience with doesn't have glass, but it is a minor adapter (m42 to K mount)
There's no glass there because the m42 mount and the Pentax K mount share the same flange focal distance (distance from lens to recording medium, either film or sensor). Canon changed the distance going from FD to EF, making the distance longer, meaning if you mechanically mount a FD lens on an EF body, you lose focusing to infinity.
Alright, SO, if it's the adapter, how should I go about fixing this issue? What if I were to remove the glass from the adapter?
You lose your infinity focus, and depending on the size of the adapter and what lens it is, probably quite a bit more. Your lens will become a sort of macro lens, you get your close range focusing, just as if you were using an extension tube. Fixing it? You find one of Canon's old adapters they made when they first made the switch, that'll probably be the best you could possibly get. Would cost you more than the equivalent EF lens though. Just checked the pricing, you're better off replacing all your glass with new L glass for the price of the adapter... fuckthisshit.png I'm just going to buy a new 50. The whole reason I bought the adapter is because I fucked up my other one. Turns out the adapter will end up giving me more grief than expected. Thanks for the help anyhow, guys.

so.. did you get a nice payment for that photo? :P bit of critique though, I find the big soft spot on the left side a bit distracting, otherwise it's all good. Like the tone, like the composition, it's pretty well balanced even despite that, so I dig it
Yeah I was on the fence about the foreground leaf, wish it took up more space. Sure I could clone it up, but eh. Thanks!
