And I had to get a ghetto macro of him too.

I think that's excessive blurring going on. I like the hue of the green, and I like the lights, but the contrast between those two is too weird, it makes the lights look like cheese. I think some type of blue light would look better?
Also facebook compression, I feel your pain.

I agree, I screwed up the blur and it was too late to change it back
The colors clash. Dull'd out greens and that heavy yellow just aren't appealing. The trails (?) look really fake (whether or not they are) because there seems to be some compression around them that doesn't appear constant through out the whole image. The trail things look very low to the ground from this angle, and that gives it a flat, dimensionless appearance. I'd prefer something like this where the trails come up off the ground, to give it some dimension and body.
The bokeh-vignette just adds mess in my opinion.

Was my first go at the light trails, I just used path and brush.
I do like that picture you linked, I'll have to reference it later when I try again.
Climbed a mountain, didn't have a tripod so took some shots in the hope I could stitch them later. Photomerge almost got it right!
Love that second one matey!!
Decided to start some of my A2 photography work and we've been given loads of hella vague brief titles to work with just to get us started. This one is under the title of Looking Toward/Looking Away.

Jeez... Don't get it backwards.
Word play aside:
Looks kinda odd because you would expect a chin. I would show the neck instead of the throat.
i think the pose is really unnatural and awkward, a lot of room for improvement i think. Maybe search through photos that you like and find posing inspiration from that.
cheers guys :) this is just preliminary work so its more the idea than the posing, lighting, colours etc but in saying what you said i now have an idea on where to take it! thanks!

Brought my documentary-like style into a shot I did with my girlfriend, and I'm not too sure what I think of it. Another experimental phase.

I spontaneously went out for a drive after dinner last night and wound up at the base of this radio tower(?). I took it at about 8:30pm, so it was pretty dark at the time. The glow on the clouds is because the city's in that direction and the light was making the clouds work as a nice backdrop for the tower.
I'm overall quite happy with the shot and the colours I managed to squeeze out of it in post, but I feel that my inability to import RAW at the moment is severely hindering the end result.
What do you guys think?
Btw, what are those vertical lines on the water from?
Post-processing. I saw some interesting ghost effect a while back, and tried to recreate it. It's worked in a few of my photos (I'll see if I can dig them up), but not in this one.
Is like a simple overlay or something different? Looks cool disregarding the context.
If I remember correctly, it consists of a duplicate layer with "motion blur" filter applied, and the blend mode set to "overlay".

Another from the same shoot. Different pose this time.

I like em, but the blue tones are a little heavy for me, particularly in the second shot.
Hurrah, got my first-of-a-lifetime roll of film developed and all today. Lots of failed shots but here's two I like, don't know which one is better, what do you guys think?

Yeah I wasn't sure about that either. I originally wanted them in B&W, to suite the layout of my minimalist website (for the front page), but started playing with some colors and blending modes and really liked the way the first one turned out. Sometimes I'm a little iffy about blatant post-processing. As pleasing as some split-toning/overlay effects are, it's always a matter of "will people like this as much as me? Or will they just complain that it's too heavily processed, and that I ruined a good piece?".
Input?

Really really love the pop of the red lights along the tower, but the clouds sort of kill it for me. Maybe if they were a little more desaturated?
A bought a Wireless Flash Trigger and a Softbox. (For taking photos for the school Prom)
As usual, I took photos of *You guessed it* my cats.

I had to borrow a Flash unit from a friend, because my shitty one wouldn't work with the trigger.
