It was the foggiest I've ever seen this morning, so I ran outside before work and snapped a selfie.
I know it's not the most interesting shot, but what do you think?
Yeah don't leave your camera in auto, cameras do some unusual things in auto. But you want to keep your f stop at about f8 maximum, and keep the ISO as low as possible. With using your lens on a wide focal length (18mm) f5.6 will have everything in focus and be sharp throughout the frame. General rule of thumb is ISO and aperture being constant, with shutter changing as it will have the least amount of affect on the final outcome. 1/60 and 1/500 will look the same on a static subject
I'll remember that for next time, I was on a bicycle, but I'll make sure that I have it set around those for the setting.
I was using M setting on my canon camera, soo.. I suppose I was using all the wrong settings for the wrong places. Most of the pictures were over exposed.
@HiddenMyst:
Pretty cool! Although I would have probably framed it a bit more tightly, you are kind of "lost" in the shot imo.
Here's a little shot I took on the way back home from the store, really wanted to try out the new lens.

haven't been posting lately. I've been taking photos but I'm a lazy shit and haven't been getting them developed or scanning them.

Thanks Sam! It should be straight, since I used the straighting tool in Lightroom.
it looked crooked to me at first but i think it might just be the wake of that boat being so close to the actual horizon
done some work for a mate to use as artistic promo for his acoustic solo project:

any thoughts?
and guys, i'm going away for a good 2.5 weeks so no posting from me from now until then! stay safe guys and take lots of pretty photos for me to see when I'm home! I'll make sure i take lotsa nice photos on my holiday travels:)
I like the second one, the first one could be a lot better if the highlights were around more of him rather than just a few edges and they seem a bit harsh. Maybe use a diffusion box or softbox or something?
I love the last one though, it's epic!

Actually kind of nervous about this one. My first picture with DSLR + my first "proper" self-portrait. I'd really love some C&C guys!
The PP looks a bit off, makes the colours awkward to the eye. Plus you look shocked :P

Need some opinions on what shots to put to use, so pick your favourite 4-5.

Also I should mention these are just smaller jpg impressions, so have some compression in the colour showing. But they aren't in the originals.
Hey folks, first time dropping by this thread, though I'd get some comments on what I'd consider a couple of my better photos.

I apologize for the lack of detail on the 4th one; I didn't have a decent camera at the time.
I really love the first and third one! Red Pandas are adorable
Is that panda like a pet or something?

Driving around Brighton last night trying to find speed cameras without the camera in it so I could make it flash but not get a ticket. This one did the job nicely.
Summer boredom with an old style self portrait. Felt weird going back to 50mm.
