This is amazing in so many ways. Cleverly composed.
I am really really new to photography, and I just got my first cam. I took a trip to a local zoo to try and learn how the hell the thing worked, out of hundreds of pic this is the only one I'm kinda happy with,

I have a lot of trouble seeing flaws in what I make, so this is why I'm posting this here. I'd just like to know if I'm heading in the right direction or something.

trees to the left and right are a bit distracting, and the picture seems a to be really bland. nothing really catches the eye in the picture. a more interesting subject could make up for that, unless you're into landscape photography. if so, the trees are the only thing really effecting this picture in my opinion. keep it up, though. you'll start to get the hang of things.

I agree on the left and right trees being distracting, I was on a small roofed bridge and the walls were in the way. I worked with what I had.
Don't take this as excuses for a bad picture though, I appreciated the criticism.

Was exploring the bowels of my Flickr, and I stumbled across this. One of the first rolls of film I had ever shot was slid through my Holga 135, I managed to catch a really cool picture of one of the local skaters named Lewis. The simplicity of the camera made using it so fun lol.

I feel so incredibly guilty just dropping by whenever I get some cool pictures and then disappearing for months at a time hahaha.

How can I improve?
Last one was the best. I could make a post with thousands of words on ways you can improve, but there's so much - and if I dictated everything you'd have learned little - that instead, I'd suggest you learn the way I and many before me did: study professional photographs. Analyze them. Keep looking at them. Try copying them, and when the copy fails find out why it fails. All of this gives you valuable knowledge. Congrats on your DSLR man.
That first 'ice cream' shot may have been better if you somehow made it contrast the ice cream sign, the colorful ride and the boring building. I'm not sure how. Maybe using a narrower aspect ratio, straightening the image to make the bottom line of the rides be complete horizontal (that seems to draw attention to things, straightening them), and saturating the image a little more.
The second one could do with some straightening, not sure where.. It also seems to give off a film vibe.
The third seems an odd shot to use motion blur on. Is the guy really going that fast?

Nah he wasn't go that fast at all, I don't really know why it turned out so blurred. I think I had a long-ish shutter speed set after shooting some water, and I turned around and took it without even thinking and it came out kinda cool.
Thanks for all the feedback by the way!

oh god the size
Jeez, are you shooting medium format? Why is it so big?
Oh, you scanned it. Oh.

This is great, but two things must be done.
1. Straighten your horizon.
2. Crop it.

Deeper than my vagina.
Uhm, the point of it was never meant to be deep.
I experimented on how to make a good gif, simple as that.
straighten your horizon but don't crop it.
Quick one here.
Went for composition rather than anything else, what do you guys think?

Fabulous.
My only niggle is the horizon isn't straight, but I guess that can be up to peoples' tastes.

The idea is good. But if I ever needed an example of overdoing the rule of thirds, here it is. I just can't not see a virtual grid in this picture.

i really dont think it matters
