I did some Street Photography in the bigger cities while on my road trip with my mom earlier this summer. If anyone can guess the locations then props to you.

I really like the third one but what do you guys think of them?
Sorry to keep jacking the thread here guys! Got through 4 more of those senior shots.

I'm sorry this might be a bit vague, but they don't give off a strong enough feel of intent or direction. Part of that is that you've got some distracting elements in your composition.
For example in 3 and 4, you've got these vertical lines that angle against your subjects and the guy on the left in your last picture throws off the balance.
The second shot is my favorite!
Steve those are all great. Very strong use of your style, while complementing the subjects wonderfully. First image is my favorite.
First time doing seniors. This is first off the spool and I have alot of shots to get through. Please be brutal as I really need to nail these! Cheers guys!

I don't like how clipped the blacks are, her body lacks any definition and just kind of looks like a blobby mess. I would clean up the hairs on her arm if you could, looks a bit undesirable. Colour fringing around the window is a little distracting. I would bring up her skin brightness just the slightest (teeny weeny) bit so I don't have to squint to see the details on her face. Other than that, good.

Don't fancy the top one in the slightest, very meh in my opinion. I have no idea what she is looking at and all the bokeh gets in the way of having any clue either. Middle left is the weaker of the two middle ones, I don't like how his face is only half lit, and the marks on the window and city backdrop is a bit distracting. Middle right is the best of this set, great expression and subtle lighting. Only complaint is that tiny hair over his forehead, if you clear that up it would be less annoying (bit overanalyzed), but still a great photo. Don't like bottom one very much. The light drops on her face look like a mess on her face, distracting and not particularly attractive. If you have one without the light drops on her face (but maybe on her body) it would be much nicer. Again bring up the skin tones a bit.

Also I'm Australian, what are senior photos?

About the blacks, I disagree with making them darker, it would create too much contrast in my opinion.
These are among the best photos you've ever taken, Bopie.
Ever thought about buying a large, portable, softbox?

Loving the textures around the model, on the wall and on the handrail.
Love the very contrasting opinions from people I both highly respect. My drunk brain can't handle it :(
Roll: I've considered a Paul C. Buff Einstein or two, but never actualized it. Might look into a dish or something, but honestly I'm not a huge artificial light guy. Really appreciate the encouragement by the way. This is un-explored territory for me.
Thanks Sam: for the super in-depth stuff, gunna take it into consideration. Also, I've already brought up the skin by 2/3 stop or more on all of these.
Just to excuse myself here, these aren't photos I'd normally take. I'm trying to 'fit' an expectation.

By clipped blacks, I meant they are all meshed into one, bring out some definition by bringing the contrast down.

Even so, they're good.
I know what look you're expected of in those photos, but that doesn't stop them being good. It shows you're a very versatile photographer, able to change for the client and situation, something quite respectable.

Yes, but only because she also isn't holding a gun. If she was holding one and aiming down the sights I guess it would be really fitting.

What camera are you using?

He uses a Canon 450D and 50mm 1.8.
I went out for a quick drive around my town while there was a gap in the rain. I was hoping to get a nice shot in the fog that was around about half an hour before this, but it disappeared when a small patch of rain came through.
I was trying to make the colours a tad warmer than this, but I didn't realise until I'd uploaded it that flux was running, so the end result was a little colder than expected. I'm pretty iffy about the composition here and don't know how passable it is. What do you guys think?

Also, I snapped this one after work today, when the sun was just starting to hit that sweet spot before it hits the treeline. Again, I'm not too sure if I like the composition.

This one is fantastic.
Hello there, people of the Photography section. I am new to this sub-forum but acquired a camera about a month ago.
I literaly just came back from my holiday to Hong Kong and the Philipines. I just loaded the images from my camera on my PC and want to edit a few of them. So far I have done one but plan on editing more tomorrow.

CC is more than welcome. I am going to soothe my jetlag now.
Peace.

Hong Kong is so awesome. Did you get to the Peak, view is sick. I heard you can get up the super-tall tower, but we couldn't find the elevator.
Yeah I've been there one year ago on the peak.
Even better question, have you been to Soho and the area arround the elevator? Sick bar life.
Re-edited this one and dodged the guy the make him stand out more. Better?

Also does anyone know how to fix this?

Not the color fringing, but the blown out (I'm guessing) hair strands that make it look stringy and disconnected.
i like the portraits but i think the people in them are still very underlit
you could make them much brighter and more prominent in the frame
@Bopie
I think you should shoot in places with some color. I like the shots, (not so much the last one because of the spotty lighting) but they feel too gloomy to me. Even if they're more creative senior rather than yearbook stuff, I think they should be more happy and colorful.
I think the colour is fine.
It's subtle and controlled, it's easy on the eye.

Although taking a second look at them, I do like the warmer yellows in the 2nd guy picture, I still think this one

and the first guy one is lacking some sort of color. I just don't like the cement walls. Now if I wasn't thinking of it as senior pictures, my thoughts would be different.
I'm also doing senior pictures (Probably doing my own ones as well) and just portraits in general for my first time.
Need some crits. Hit me. I tried to things I've never done before (like that video bopie posted in off-topic) and other things. I feel like her face might be a bit too bright.

Her boobs look drawn-on.
I feel like you've tried to shove too much into the frame, you could do with moving back a lot.

Tried faking HDR in photoshop.. not sure if it made a difference or not

Ohfoohy, yes the second is better. In the first i would have moved the framing to the left a little.
Gamedev. HDR should never be noticeable IMO. The point of HDR isn't HDR. The point of HDR in my opinion is to expose both ends of an image correctly to the degree that it still looks natural.

The only real difference is that the leaves look less like a green mess and are actually contrasty and apparent.
