Here's one more that I was on the fence about posting yesterday. It's not so sharp, but eh. Would love to see the 2nd one with brighter red. But they are all good. [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] Ugh. I mean the site before.

No washed out colours and very easy on the eyes. I like it.
Beautiful shots of the Owl, Airdoo.

Marley that's damn fantastic. I love the focus on the picture it's incredible. Magazine worthy
Yeah probably my favorite of yours.
Okay, I promise, I'll stop posting Owl images after this post. I finally went through my test shots that I actually intended on taking on my incredible outing. It makes it look sorta like an annoyed superstar "geez won't you even let me take a bath?"
That's what I thought at first, but the sun was shining on the eye that is dilated more than the other. If he was taking a bath, he had been taking a bath for a long time with his eyes closed...
I just read up that owls have very slow adaption. He opened the "shadow" eye first(you can see in the pics) and his "sun" eye later, you simply caught that moment when the "sunny side eye" didn't fully adapt to "eye status: opened" [editline]21st August 2012[/editline] I hope
Guys.. I'm sure the owl is fine. :)
they look like OK shots, but the filter-rape ruins them imo
Those filters are there for purpose, it's my style to take pictures.
Took another trip to a park today! Here are some of the results. Cheers for the over processing feedback last time this time they have all had very little post processing!
they all seem very very tight and cramped to me
they all seem very very tight and cramped to me
Absolutely! Couldn't quite put my finger on what seemed bad about them.
yeah, but what purpose is that? Applying filters to a photo doesn't further your photographic eye and other photo related abilities, instead filtering just makes for a quick and easy way to make an average photo ~interesting~. There's a famous guitarist in Metallica - Kirk Hammett - who is often criticized for his abuse of wah-pedals in his guitar solos - a filter pedal. That's his style, but it masks his actual abilities, musical and technical. Eventually, every solo sounds more or less the same due to the overbearing wah sound. That is what filters in ALL art forms are like: they mask the actual art and they show a weakness in the artist (photographer in this case). It masks both in editing abilities, and in actual picture taking. that's just my opinion. I hope that makes sense
Well, it indeed is your opinion and I respect it. I don't really get what people have against photo editing, it's normal nowadays. It doesn't make average photo interesting, it enhances the overall picture and makes it stand out from the crowd. In my opinion, I am a potential photographer for a beginner and I just like to make the picture look more personal with post-processing.
Took another trip to a park today! Here are some of the results. Cheers for the over processing feedback last time this time they have all had very little post processing!
Yeah no offence man, but they kinda seem uninspired and just shot without thinking what you really wanted. It's like you just walked out and shot for the sake of shooting, maybe next time, really take in what you're seeing and decide on how you can make it work. The 12th and 13th shots are just too busy and the eye struggles to decide where it wants to go. The 2nd shot would've worked out a little better had you gotten a little lower and taken a shot from a different angle, you could've gotten an interesting composition and some nice shapes as well. But keep shooting! Maybe have a search on learning about the rule of thirds and composition and stuff.

You say editing is normal and in the next line you say it makes the pic stand out from the crowd. Just look at Instagram and the "Vintage" trend of the recent years.

editing a photo cannot make it good all on its own, the aesthetics of the shot must be good to begin with, but manipulation can add extra flare and artistic features yet also it can completely cripple what was a good shot. its all about balance
