Surprised that one of the few portraits I took turned out, I didn't feel comfortable holding my camera that way while in the water with such a heavy lens hanging off of it for some reason so I shot landscape instead.

I didn't notice until my dad brought it up that the eyes are dilated drastically different, which could suggest that the owl was sick, which makes me feel bad for bothering it.

I think that's just the sun shining from one side since owls are very sensitive to light.

It makes it look sorta like an annoyed superstar "geez won't you even let me take a bath?"

That's what I thought at first, but the sun was shining on the eye that is dilated more than the other. If he was taking a bath, he had been taking a bath for a long time with his eyes closed...

I just read up that owls have very slow adaption. He opened the "shadow" eye first(you can see in the pics) and his "sun" eye later, you simply caught that moment when the "sunny side eye" didn't fully adapt to "eye status: opened"

Well, it indeed is your opinion and I respect it.
I don't really get what people have against photo editing, it's normal nowadays.
It doesn't make average photo interesting, it enhances the overall picture and makes it stand out from the crowd. In my opinion, I am a potential photographer for a beginner and I just like to make the picture look more personal with post-processing.

Yeah no offence man, but they kinda seem uninspired and just shot without thinking what you really wanted. It's like you just walked out and shot for the sake of shooting, maybe next time, really take in what you're seeing and decide on how you can make it work. The 12th and 13th shots are just too busy and the eye struggles to decide where it wants to go. The 2nd shot would've worked out a little better had you gotten a little lower and taken a shot from a different angle, you could've gotten an interesting composition and some nice shapes as well. But keep shooting! Maybe have a search on learning about the rule of thirds and composition and stuff.

I agree, in my opinion you should have your desired result in mind BEFORE taking the shot, not the other way around.

I would like to point out that there is a contradiction. You say editing is normal and in the next line you say it makes the pic stand out from the crowd.

Just look at Instagram and the "Vintage" trend of the recent years.

editing a photo cannot make it good all on its own, the aesthetics of the shot must be good to begin with, but manipulation can add extra flare and artistic features yet also it can completely cripple what was a good shot. its all about balance
