The editing above makes the pictures interesting because of the editing, not the photo. The aesthetic shouldn't beat the actual photo. So for that reason I think it's overkill on the editing.
is that really necessary?
No it's not, it was stupid and I changed it.
it enhances the overall picture and makes it stand out from the crowd..
With Instagram and just general disposition for faux-tographers to overuse filters, I think it's ridiculous to suggest at this point that stylized filters at this point make a photo look unique/stand out from the crowd.
You can't justify that a bad photo is good because of the editing. The photo needs to have substance in the first place and has to be a stand out shot which then can be edited to its full potential. You can take a photo of the floor and edit it like crazy, but at the end of the day its still a photo of the floor.
damn, i learn so much more when i come on here. I LOVE YOU GUYS, MAN.
I don't like editing my photos. I have a really hard time even putting them in black and white. I had to shoot B&W film, just so I force myself to see if I shoot ok in B&W.
Went through my back catalogue of photos from Hawaii, can't believe I forgot about this shot, I love it. Took this one while backpacking at Mnt. Rainier, it's with a regular old digital camera but I really liked it.

Awesome library, really shoddy Chinatown(and surroundings, people were gasping at us when we told them we parked our cars east of Chinatown) [editline]22nd August 2012[/editline] And whle I'm at it have one from Mt- St. Helens. I think I already posted it but I am damn proud, I had to jump a few swimming logs to get there. I really love it.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qwHJM.jpg[/thumb] It's like in Sleeping Dogs, except 100x more epic.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qwHJM.jpg[/thumb] It's like in Sleeping Dogs, except 100x more epic.
Peak is awesome. I can also see the Hotel I am usualy staying in on the picture. Hopefully I'll be back in Hong Kong for a few days beginning of next year after my Philipines holiday. Then another time summer next year. Just love this city too much not to go there so often.
It looks weirdly purple to me.
First week with my 600D, so some stuff:
Oh, yeah I played a bit with the sliders in photoshop after getting the trial. I'm not good with that :v:.

Looks good Kecske, my only complaint is the sharpness in the second picture. A picture like that should be extremely sharp and the focus just right. ... and the grapes look nasty.

But overall, looking back at the images, I feel kind of uninspired. I do loads of fun stuff with friends but those are usually private / not-Flickr-worthy.

ask communistcat it's russian [editline]22nd August 2012[/editline] Facepunch riddle me this, i was taking flash shots of the rain last night in manual exposure settings and getting some cool shots. but when i added a subject to the shot, it turned out entirely different despite retaining the EXACT same settings between the two shots. why does this happen? this is what i'm talking about i wanted the one with all the bokeh thingies to come out with the one of the subject but it didn't work, and i am curious as if there is a reason behind this bizarre phenomena
I could give a quick lesson but I'm not the biggest fan of the Zenit-E. Right to start with its a domestic model, which means it stayed in the USSR (they didn't have as good quality as export). The lens is an old fashioned Pre-set version, where one ring limits the aperture and the other closes and opens it. You should always wind the shutter on before changing Shutter speeds thats the dial on the top which you lift up and turn around (never between 500 and B). When you wind film on do in short strokes if you wind it all the way round it sometimes damages the shutter. The film rewind knob is hidden in the middle of the Light meter which is on the users left hand side, generally at this age the light meter is dead so well thats about all I have to say. If theres anything else heres an instruction manual in English http://www.butkus.org/chinon/russian/zenith-e/zenith-e.htm
Thats weird, maybe he is blocking the light that is illuminating the rain in front of you? Just a dumb guess. Not probably it because I can clearly see where the lamp posts are.
[t]http://puu.sh/XSpG[/t] Little test, decided to spend 20 minutes sitting around outside looking at stars. 20 minute / 41 exposure image (f/3.5, iso 400, 30sec) It was difficult, damn light pollution. I didn't fancy going somewhere with less light so I just sat in my back garden for a bit, I think I was outside for like an hour because I tried some other techniques but the best one was stacking so I just left it going for ages.
I took this picture with a shoebox.
Highschool photo class by any chance? That assignment was hell. Hello 10 minute exposures in high winds with a super light shoebox.
