My Photyshoppy is terrible
tbh the truck would look better in the middle of the road, imho, that way it doesn't really break the balance of the composition
I would, but my photoshop trial has -just- run out. :c
I believe I've got my best landscape shots through this method. Passenger seat shooting is so much fun.
It is, except then you throw out all but 25 of your 390 shots.
I think you've got it down pretty well. More practice with this sort of thing and I think that you could pump out some grew stuff.
Well, I have an upcoming road trip where I get to sit in a car for 11 hours either way, which will be fun. By fun I mean wrist-slittingly annoying having a bunch of people jammed in a car.
I think it's improved my skill though, all of my shots were perfectly exposed (no highlights or shadows) despite being on manual. Still, I did have a lot of light...

I didn't notice it was photoshopped.
I've been trying to do night photography for a while. I'll post some of my examples later, but I have a problem. They all just look so bad. I'm using a low-ish ISO (around 200-800), and long shutter exposure. But my pictures never come out clear enough. Another thing, a lot of examples I've seen you can see the milky way in the photo. How can I do that? I can get stars just fine, but I want more to it.

Google around a bit more, you could just have some issues with light pollution if you live near an urban center of any sort.
Here are some links that probably would help more than I could do. I'm still a novice at all things photography.

What lens does the Pentax 67 use? M42 mount?
Car headlights?
Yep.
What lens does the Pentax 67 use? M42 mount?
M42 is for 35mm, the 67 uses a bayonet mount.

I'm not sure how they get the milky way plus stuff on the ground, I always assumed they stitch 'em together, using a stepper to cancel out the Earth's rotation for the sky.

Anyway, am I supposed to have nothing but sky? Or am I just not exposing it long enough?
What do most of you use to edit your photos?

Higher ISO (You used 800, and T3 Rebel has maximum of 6,4k) and higher aperture. Around 4-ish maybe.

Higher ISO leads to a lot of "artifacts"? It just looks absolutely horrible at 6400. 1600 is the highest I'm willing to go with this camera. As for the aperture, I'll go with something more open next time. I should get a non-zoom lens to do this though.

Photoshop CS6 :)
so the middle element of this lens is basically oil, need to get it fixed. still had fun shooting in weird lighting conditions (moonlight, streetlights, and iphone L, this was the biggest storm ever in arizona right in my town and i went out that night to assess the damage.

Try a longer shutter speed, light HDR might work too, expose for the sky and land seperately and combine in post.

I'm an open source nerd, and there's really no software I can buy that's open source. So I'm using tools that probably aren't best suited for photo /editing/. I use RawTherapee pretty much exclusively. GIMP doesn't have non-destructive editing or proper 16bit support (I heard the next release would have 16bit support though), so I'm not using that. The only other tool I use is Hugin, for panoramas, which can be a bit temperamental.
I edit with exclusively photoshop, though my class is teaching Lightroom and I'm resisting hardcore l
Maybe for processing Raw's I'll use it (Sony a77 has so so jpegs) but for editing I'll take the time for each photo in photoshop

I dump everything into Lightroom so I can sort through them. After a rough sort, I'll start doing basic editing, colors, exposure, horizon straightening, etc. If I need to do anything more such as removing or modifying actual components of the photo, I'll export the photo into Photoshop. From there I can do some heavier editing if needed.
Works surprisingly well. The cataloging of photographs in Lightroom is absolutely critical for me though.
Yeah that's mostly what I've gathered Lightroom accomplishing. But I do all color and exposure editing on jpegs in photoshop. It's worked very well for me, so I don't think I could ever move to editing color Raw's.

can't decide if i like the skin tone or not. i would make it lighter but i feel the slightly darker tone on his face is necessary to balance the picture out

nvm actually. i really like the way i edited this one

You have so much more information with RAWs, especially when it comes to editing the white balance.
yeah dude work with raw you'll fucking love it, I used to be the same way til I just went ahead and tried
photoshop even has a raw editor thing that comes up when you import a raw, it's basically everything light room has but in a bit less of a user friendly interface, then you can go on to do anything else you'd normally do
