Thanks for the kind words first of all, i like the concept of the photo but i think i made some mistakes which brought it down a lot. Upping the lights did indeed overexpose the background to an unusable extent, and in future I'm gonna be more careful on what my subject is directly in front of, in frame. The location was the most annoying part, as i had struggled to find anywhere decent. About the washed out look, was just trying something new which didn't turn out too great, a learning curve if you will. I can post a few more from the day that may have been better choices, if you'd like to see.
It wasn't harsh at all, i appreciate comments like that more than you'd think. After all it's a 365 and I'm always looking to improve and learn.
Edit: I think i prefer this other one, might switch around my flickr entry. Surely thats okay for a 365 cause i did take it yesterday. I'll post it here and see what you guys think.
Loved the title.
Different photo, and different editing style. Would love to hear your opinions over the other one.

The colors are kinda boring, looks like a photo that wasn't post-proccesed.

Thanks, I'm gonna post another. Im torn between three right now.
Yeah your photos seemed like more of a play around, and a test rather than something artistic. personally i don't find light painting like that very artistic, maybe if you got outside and did something a little more time consuming you might have a more interesting image. I don't mean to be harsh, all the best.
thanks man, i see what you mean. i was actually just experimenting with new ways to do light painting and wanted some opinions :)

Cold tones on that one are really nice because not only is she dressed for the mood, but her eyes are also blue so it really makes them stand out. Nice.
Do dislike the bottom left. The entire rest of the frame is clear save for that spot. Slightly distracting.
I feel like I'm the only guy who doesn't take pictures of people.

I rarely do it, and when I do I really like candids.
I remember when I got my 50 f/1.4 I took a neat portrait, and it's probably the only portrait I've ever taken that I like.

Here's some photos I took yesterday, the first one being part of my 365 Challenge.

That one is my favorite out the two, but I just wanted to get a candid face shot, because he hates getting his photo taken. Also, his smiling, I find it warming, he's a lovely guy, nicest guy I know. Going out on a photography walk with him in 2 weeks so I'll finally be getting out of the house. Yay :D

I like the warm colours in this one.
Mind you I'm slightly colour blind.
Meh.
I'm also mildly colour blind :v:
It is very common in guys. I have problems with certain shades of colours under different lighting conditions, it's my red receptor that is dodgy, so it's not a huge impairment, but i do fail a few of the tests.
I don't know if this is definitely true, but from my knowledge, females can carry the gene that causes it, but they can never actually get colourblind.
DAMN WOMEN.

That was weird, I know someone who looks like that.
Love the purple colour, and whatever vibrant colour here eyes are, I cant really tell..

Nor is it for me, but I'm not too good on the FM100 hue test, and I fail the Ishihara tests completely. Not too helpful though considering I want to be a pilot, I have to pay £250 in order to take the more advanced CAD test.

There are a few different genes which can cause colour blindness. I know that in my family at least, that statement is true.
My mother (and her 3 sisters) are all carriers of the allele. Between them, they've had 10 sons. If you're mother is a carrier, any son born will have a 50% chance of inheriting the red/green colour blindness. If they have daughters they'll also be carriers.
Out of the 10 sons, 5 of them are colour blind (including my two brothers) and 5 are not (including myself).
Some more of the gig I shot the other night.
Tried a fake film style of processing, what do you guys think?

I'm not satisfied with it. I wanted to take time and set the shot up differently, but I had to move on from that spot. I shot it out of the sun roof of my car.
I haven't done photography in a while, so I decided to do some today with my Canon Ti1

Also I made another one, the better of the two IMO

okay im gonna be straight here ok, and you're going to learn. Hard and fast.
Radiators are boring and always will be, they are the last photos you'll ever take with the radiator as the subject. The only salvageable thing from your photo is in the first one its kinda centred. Irrelevant anyway. Find some better subjects and happy photographing.
