I like it, but it's dangerously underexposed, give it a bump because at the moment it lacks any highlights and I can barely make out your face.
YOu got 2 artistics and a winner.
I like the last one, but the sloped horizon distracts me a bit, but that's just me.
The one of the dog is a bit too blue, if you shoot in RAW try upping the temperature slider.
I really like the textile picture, the shaddows are really interesting. Spot on.
I like cats. So I like your cat picture. Nice composition and the eye is pretty creepy. Provokes an emotion so I would consider that a win.
TO those worried to post.
DONT FUCKING WORRY.
This community is brilliant for learning and getting critique, thanks to all you guys iv'e learned alot more than I could by just reading articles and shit. Plus on facepunch, not many peopel know eachother so are not biased in what they say.
Post away.
Thankyou so much for the critique man! i might actually start shooting in RAW but ive never attempted it before so i wouldn't really know what i was doing
in class teacher was complimenting all the photos I took that I thought were shit,
mostly ones of my cat. apparently the entire class agreed they were well composed and shit (where as they were just snap type photos)
then she got to the ones I would be comfortable actually sharing anywhere other than that, needless to say I had the cat in the bag.
So I saw a duck just sitting there, luckily I had my camera with me.

silly duck
That's not a duck...
It's obviously a dodo.

Stupid Nikon. It worked on the D3000 and older/cheaper models, so I assumed Nikon installed it on D3100 too.

I think your monitor is set up way too dark, i can make out his face, although it is a bit undersexposed, i tihnk it would ruin the effect if he brightened it though.
If I won the lottery I would supply everyone here with colour calibrated monitors.

RAW is a bit of a daunting prospect to most people who have never used it before, but once you start you will never look back. One of the main things i love about it is that you don't have to worry about your white balance setting at all! RAW is just, how do I put it.. Just the raw data of what the camera has captured, there is no processing at all, so all the work the camera does to create the Jpeg, you have to do yourself.
I really think you should try it, it's pretty easy to get the hang of. :)

3rd, 7th and 8th are my favourites wickerman! the colours in the 3rd one are truly awesome! the 7th looks like a snapshot from a game in my eyes, like crysis or battlefield, on max settings; and the 8th just looks so sharp around the hill/mountain, really good composition too!
well done mate!
also, in regards to the RAW capturing: is there anything i should take into account? im going to start shooting in RAW more from now on so i want a heads up in what i should be doing when editing the RAW files

Don't go overboard on the sliders! Temperature is important too, that's what can give a photo a nice warm feeling. Don't worry if your picture looks cold, it can easily be fixed in RAW. Good luck!
Also, thanks :)
Last time i swear.

Very central, but somehow it works. Nice job!
Although the red could do with a boost, but only a little! Or the could just be me, as I am a bit colour-blind :/
I like this a lot, but I feel like its slightly crooked (camera leaning left).
Ah i never noticed. I had fixed it, it was alot worse. See i was doing the splits while taking this, my feet spread out wide, loosely clinging on to some rocks with a huge patch of water beneath my arse. If i had fallen i would of got soaked. I was holding the camera down between my legs so I wasn't able to look through the viewfinder.
Thankfully i got the shot I was after :D
[editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
Taken with a Nikon D70. Man i loved that thing, was the first camera I started on. Eventally my dad bought himself the 5D, but Now i can use it and the D70 had to be given to my sister for her photography unit in her art course.
[editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
Took my favourite lens too.. 40-100mm Macro. It was orgasmic.
Very central, but somehow it works.
Implying there's something inherently wrong with centralized composition?
Implying there's something inherently wrong with centralized composition?
I was wondering the same thing. Having the subject in center is comforting to me. I like it Blazer. The model's posing and clothing is just very.... What's the word...
Implying there's something inherently wrong with centralized composition?
yeah idk why people stress rule of 3rds so hardcore. it's more of a guideline than anything. on facebook someone complained about this picture
http://www.flickr.com/photos/63755315@N08/6820357535/in/photostream
and told me to use rule of thirds
even though it does because it's the middle third of the frame :|
Implying there's something inherently wrong with centralized composition?
I'm not trying to say it's a bad photo, i love it, it's just I've always been taught not to put things dead centre. Sorry if i caused any offence.
[editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
I don't stick to the rule of thirds religiously, but i subconsciously do it. Which can be annoying sometimes
