I think the colours work well to set the mood I think the photographer is looking for. Is this film or digital?

Make the object fill the frame in a bit more, there are too much empty space.
and see if you can get a light from the left of the objects, too

It's a pity some of the lightleaks either really really add or badly subtract (imo), but you've got some real gems here. Nice work

I don't really take too much pictures, but here's one I thought was nice. Just happened at the moment half of the picture was in the sunlight and the other half in the shade. Unedited.
How much was done in post? Could we see the original? I like to see where it started :P
Yeah I can do that! I'll post the original when I get a chance and give you most of the steps I did for editing, but most of it was done in post. Sound good?
trying something new with editing, very limited dynamic range look. also showing off my haircut i did myself i think it looks p good
Looks like a really good mugshot ;)
So here is the base image to compose this, i flipped my a77 LCD to face the mirror, so i could frame accurately in the mirror and not get the camera in the shot. i decided on this photo because the expression was alright and i liked my hair. it started as a jpg because i think they are easier to shoot and i can work with the what it gives me, i don't really like doing noise reduction and sharpening when my camera does a decent job at it. the editing process started out with adding brightness and contrast to the image, as it was initially a bit dull for me. then once that was done, i grabbed a color from the background and used the brush to paint it over the rest of the image. this was the hard part because the background in photoshop is dark gray (forgot about changing it) so the edges seemed always pretty consistent. so i would tilt my monitor to see a contrastier version of the image, to easily see where i had painted unevenly. to give it that washed out look, go into the exposure control in photoshop (not sure how to do this in lightroom, this tool and oclor balance are why i do 90% of my editing in photoshop). you set the exposure down a bit to make the whites more gray, turn the offset up a tad, and the gamma to the right (small numbers). this reduces the amount of differences between black and white, while making your blacks gray as well as your whites. playing around with them is what gives it that look, i found something like -.013 exposure, +.0466 offset, and 0.76 gamma worked well to give it that look. for color balancing i used the photoshop color balance tool, the one with sliders between printer colors and RGB. I tend to favor a blue/magenta/cyan look, though my monitor is apparently VERY yellow biased and on other monitors it doesn't look quite as i intended it to. it is much more yellow than i edited it be, but i think it still looks alright enough. but usually i add a lot of cyan to the image on the mids and shadows, to make the blues look a bit more white and natural. then in the highlights i use the yellow slider so the whites look bright and not overly blue finally i painted the corners of the neck a bit so they look faded in because my shirt cut off part of my neck on the left so the sides were uneven, and blending was proving difficult so i thought it was a decently creative solution. hope that helps, if you have any other questions let me know!
broken image for me
Hmm lemme fix that, it wasn't uploading to imgur so I did Dropbox, must have copied the link wrong. It'll be up in a sec
not a really amazing shot but i like it anyway [editline]16th November 2012[/editline] i also like this one for a few reasons
