Did you tell her to stick her head forward? Really makes a difference with the jawline when people do that.

Nah I didn't, this picture was from the end when I was tearing down the lights, I thought I would snap one more and it was my favorite because she looked super cute ;(
hey guys. dont rate pictures dumb because you dont like them. that is in no way helping anyone.

assuming you care about the quality of these pictures, i'll tell you first that they're very noisy, most likely due to the camera you took them with and the lighting conditions you gave it to work with. this is a small issue, all things considered. they're also out of focus, other than the first one, which just barely makes the cut. i would also recommend considering the composition of your picture before deciding to hold the camera vertically, and using obscure angles. the first one is arguably the best compositionally (and overall), but it also gives unnecessary attention to your forehead. bring the attention to your eyes, they're lovely and would appreciate some more light. the second and third are just kinda awkward with the angles, and the second has unfortunate lighting near your hairline. selfies are almost always horrible shots, anyway, so dont feel down about it. theres usually no way to see what your picture will look like until after you take it. your homework is to take some more planned out shots and post em here, as this isn't a very flattering display of your photographic abilities.
then say "dont post huge images"

rating her dumb doesn't convey that message
So, I got really bored at 2ish in the morning, and started snapping shots of this little guy. I think it came out decent for me being half asleep!

yeah Epson V500, I use Vuescan as my scanning software using this technique.
For PP it really depends, here's a before and after of one of that vines shot (scanned jpg vs. final):

while that drain shot had very little done to it (sharpening and slight tone tweak).

God damn flickr keeps messing up the quality.

Thanks for the advice. The main focus of the project was to take 2 pictures, one for commercial purpos and one private. We had 1 hour to do this with editing. So yeah, quality etc wasnt graded, the body language and the feeling we gave of in the picture.
Im not very used to photography, since im a music student.

The trick is Portra in a nice rangefinder. This gives you the sort of exposure where you can get great contrast without having to clip highlights and darks as much as other films/digital.

mate i'm digging this style you're moving into, its suhweeet
Tom, while your physical photographic talents may not be world class, you have a really solid direction and I'm really starting to dig it. You stand out above the rest by simply having an idea of what you want everything to look like and a general theme that you follow. Keep it up ;)

Just wondering whats up with my photographic talents so i can improve? is it my composition, lighting in the photo's, or the subjects in general, i'm looking for some inspiration to go out and take more photo's and if i've got something to improve on that will spur me on.
It's just a bit of everything really, overall quality if you will. Take more photos, build up more quality control, you will make better pictures.

just curious, but how does the rangefinder help with the exposure? i thought it was more aesthetically different than SLRs if anything.
Some new shots I made:

iirc, the lenses he uses are notorious for having much higher physical contrast than other lenses.

Oh okay, that's what I was thinking but wasn't sure.
