Even me? :P
Hey guys. Things have been pretty hectic. I've had a (pretty amateur) photography exhibition with my brother, been travelling all over NSW and am finally back in Sydney living a semi-sedentary lifestyle. Proper content coming soon, but here are some instagrams in the mean-time. Good work everyone by the way. Really good shit. Just trying to get enough content to warrant making something worthwhile. Big Love Facepunch.

First two are pretty nice (sans that orange barricade thing :v:), and i like the white space in the last shot.
Cheers man, I get what you mean but if I panned in either direction I would have telephone poles in the photo and I wanted it to be a more abstract silhouette shot than anything else so it looks more like a conceptual painting or drawing than a photograph of a bird :)
I might as well post it here too! I had another go at light painting, I need to make some kind of soft box in the future though because this led torch is quite strong yet small so it's a bit harsh. Dude, that looks really nice; if a bit underexposed! [editline]7th January 2013[/editline] Idea for a better exposure: stop down a bit so you can expose the sunset the same and get the trees in focus as well as the car and use a bigger and more powerful torch to get more light onto the car itself and diffuse it too :)

Because it's mostly on purpose, the idea was to have only the car exposed with a hint of the orange sky and to have silhouettes of the forest behind, the photo is a mix of at least 10/15 photos, I lit a different part of the car in each photo and I took a couple exposing the sky just how I wanted it. I shot it at f10 with a 50mm 1.8g. (min aperture is f16 so I wanted to avoid that) Hope I actually got your point eheh or at least I've been able to explain my though process a bit.

Well done!
Looks like the sort of ott shiny in Gran Turismo, great.
Yeah I like the sort of unnatural/fake look that you can get with using multiple light sources, or in this case with light painting since I don't have multiple flashes or strobes.
Well in that case mate, with the idea you wanted to capture and the techniques used it's completely spot on. Well done!
I think though you are still right I tend to make everything very dark, so maybe I should try to brighten things up a little next time, just for a change to see where that gets me!
haha indeed, I'm a boarder. I was boarding in the three valleys in the french alps. For some reason i get a really depressing feeling when i see patches of the mountain that aren't snow (apart from rocks), i guess i don't like to believe that everything isn't snow. Boarding on that looks a little depressing haha, although I'm sure its still fun. Bet you can't wait for that blizzard. Also this first shot is sweet. Nice to see you posting, brother. Thought it would look good with some grain, thought i'd slap it on, see how you like it. Hope ya don't mind.
It does look better. Also, just realised my awful grammar in my post, oops.
Wtf Blazefresh I was boarding in Three Valleys in the Alps over NYE, particularly Mellau

I'm asking because I'd like to try.
Wtf Blazefresh I was boarding in Three Valleys in the Alps over NYE, particularly Mellau
I was in Val Thorens from the 14th till the 22nd of Dec. How'd you like it?
I was going to go to Val Thorens if I had the money :(
So you just set it for 30sec and run around lighting the car with ur LED? I'm asking because I'd like to try.
Pretty much, you want to set a shutter speed long enough to give you time to move around while not being long enough to properly expose the car with ambient light. Say a good exposure is at 30s with the available light you might want to go down to 15 or even 10. (just play around a bit basically until you find a good time) I find it's best to do multiple shots instead of trying to light the whole car at once. Here's an overview of my setup. As you can see there's a decent amount of post processing although if you like to make things unecessarely complicated for yourself you could probably get the same result with clever use of multiple exposures and some light modifiers to do the masking of light in real life. I used a Maglite XL50 LED, it's quite small yet powerfull, for these photos I removed the front projector so that the light wasn't so concentrated in a small spot althought as I said I would like to make a softbox for it to make it better next time. [thumb]http://www.emanuelemonaco.com/images/scooby/how_i_did_it.png[/thumb] Hope it helps!
Idea: Use a laser pointer or something similar and create a "net" instead of lighting it completely.
You lost me! What do you mean by creating a "net"? Are you suggesting I make some sort of wireframe on the car like if it was a 3d model?

I absolutely love this shot
You lost me! What do you mean by creating a "net"? Are you suggesting I make some sort of wireframe on the car like if it was a 3d model?
I imagined it like this: In PP you basically do the same as what you did with this, just with a very high aperture. Now you run the laser over the car (another tripod to guide it?) and since the laser is really fucking bright(careful not to hit the cam with a reflection I guess?) you'll sort of get a real life wireframe of the car. So yeah, you got my idea but I have no idea whether it could work.
