he told me he wears a jacket at 25 degrees man. 25 degrees!
It was about 9am in the morning up in the hills so would have been about 18 degrees, well cold enough for a jacket for Australians. Also he was walking to his ride home (this was the morning after an 18th at the property we were on, we slept over) and didn't have a bag to put his jacket in (that thing on his back is his sw@g).
Quite a fellow.

i've noticed this with both you and bopie, and i don't understand how you guys do it. some of the pictures you guys take are very trivial in my opinion, and don't take that the wrong way, but the way you take them make them very interesting. i'm not sure if it has to do with the composition, the format, the PP, i don't know, but you guys make it work.
for example: this is a photo of someone waking up, someone else sleeping, random things scattered around, and what looks like all on the floor of the wilderness, obviously, everyone can see that in the image itself. typically, or at least i think, something like this wouldn't be something someone would stop, and say, "HEY, THIS IS EXTREMELY INTERESTING." but what's odd is, the way you capture it, in my opinion, makes it very interesting. that's where i'm curious, and confused. i'm not sure if it's due to the fact that it evokes a question in me, like, "what's going on in this picture?" or if it's more visual based, might be both of those.
or with this picture:

the image itself is very trivial in my opinion, but it's extremely interesting to look at. but i'm not sure why.
so, my question to you is: whenever you are out to take a picture(s), do you necessarily think about what you take a picture of, or is it more intuitive than that?
Maybe it's the candid nature of the photo. It's definitely something that remains a mystery to me.
Seems like the only time I can ever get a shot like that is if I am not thinking about the shot at all.

same with me, exactly why i was asking if it was intuition. it's like spacing out, and just taking a picture of something that "feels right" instead of "looks right".
been messing with some new PP

Thanks. To answer your question, it's a mix of intuitiveness and analysis from experience and inspiration. With the experience of getting feedback on my previous photos and self analysing I have learned precisely what does not work for my photos, so I choose to not include those sorts elements in my photos. In contrast, through being inspired by other photographer's photos and other art in general I use the elements I have seen that do work and try to include those in my photos. From my experience there is a touch of intuitivety to this sort of thing, but I still make an effort to analyse before I shoot and analyse before I post.

Continuing from above, that specific shot of the tree that you mentioned works for a few specific reasons I think. First there's a good balance of oranges to blues (a very attractive contrast) so that the contrast is still there but it's not overpowering, the fact there are mostly blues gives the feeling of still being at the beach. The white car parked in front of the trees (this may just be personal) has a somewhat vintage shape with the rear window being very blocky and the fin things on top which could strike a nostalgic feeling in the viewer (does with me). The lighting is quite nice being about two hours before sunset, not exactly golden hour but creates dramatic shadows with soothing light. There's a very nice symmetrical and geometric feeling to the photo; the horizon is straight, the tree cuts right down the middle with a neat triangular shape, the two houses down the middle both open up to the viewer's position (could also make a subtly inviting mood) and the train line down the bottom almost creates a straight frame to the bottom, demonstrating a deliberate end to the photo (does this make sense? like it's an obvious border to the photo so the viewer understands that everything in the frame is precisely placed there by the photographer - creates a trust if you will).
Hope my unfiltered rambling is of any use :)

The light down at this beach where I stayed for NYE and some days after was absolutely sensational in the evening.

Dig this one, I like the editing although I think they are maybe a tad bit too yellow.
Found an older picture of my cat that I haven't posted for whatever reason. I just bumped the whites a bit since I don't know where to go with it.

In my opinion some colors are standing out more than they should, the lips for example.

You literally do not understand the concept of depth of field, do you
I do, it just somehow looks weaker in the upper left than it does in the upper middle, no need for suggestive questions, I'd be grateful if you could point out my misconception.

LOVE IT, nice shot mate!
few of my own from today, I mighta overdone the PP a little but i was in a good mood and a little experimental, I hope there's some sense of style and not just a "overly done" feel to them

For some reason the CA makes them look very very sharp. Neat.

Sorry mate, I'm just use to your previous hostility. It's refreshing to see you with a friendlier approach.
What i said was a reference to you pointing out in the past 'odd' depth of field in photos and questioning depth of field when its just a certain lens being used.
In this case i assume its just a wide lens with a shallowish depth of field.
The green ones just look sharper to me but maybe that's my crooked eye or an effect of the colours(whic would be quite interesting)

edit:
wait woah woah woah, dumb? Atleast explain why. I know it's just a rating, but now I'm curious

Lens could be slightly decentered, which would lead to uneven focus across the plane, but I'm not sure if I'm seeing what you are seeing.
I like that Nonikai, it's interesting!

The tones in this picture are great. I like candid photos, but the only thing that bothers me about it is the ever so slight motion blur, otherwise this photo is pleasing to the eyes.
