Respect. Love the other shots too. Those sunsets are amazing.
Hey Derp Y. Mail, when shooting architecture be sure to correct the pillowing by your lens, it kinda shows in the 1st pic.
I think I'm starting to get the hang of taking photos, but I really struggle in the post production side of things. I flat out don't know what's best when it comes to photoshopping an image, so if anyone has any pointers that'd be grand. Anyway I went for a skate around my town and got some snaps and here's a few that I really liked from the lot. Sorry for posting here, probably wrong thread, but where do you guys buy your film batteries? I need 2 A76 cells
B+H Photo Edit: Nevermind, it says it's discontinued, sorry
A76 is another name for an alkaline LR44, Walmart-common.
I'm not big into photography, but something interesting happened. i took a photo of some ancient film-slides my parents had from their 80's trip around various parts of russia and vienna, and i used my computer monitor as a backlight. [img_thumb]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/nerdlancer/18298167170/1/tumblr_lzziikhfjE1rqrxg3[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/nerdlancer/18298167170/2/tumblr_lzziikhfjE1rqrxg3[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/nerdlancer/18298167170/4/tumblr_lzziikhfjE1rqrxg3[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://www.tumblr.com/photo/1280/nerdlancer/18298167170/3/tumblr_lzziikhfjE1rqrxg3[/img_thumb]
Just for information, the first photo is definetly not from Russia. its from Riga in Latvia. It used to be a part of the Soviet Union, because Russia occupied Latvia for quite a while. But we regained freedom and this is a picture from Old Riga. Not Russia. So is the one you posted a little bit later with the text on it. Thats by the river Daugava, also in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The first one is of the Powder Tower, that was built sometime before the year 1330. Don't know exactly when though. It is now a museum. Don't mean to sound rude or anything, just to clarify things :) I can't be sure but i think the second one in the first post might be also of a tower in Riga. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
here's another one which i used the sky as the backlight. forgive the text,
This is the one that is also in Riga, Latvia, not Russia.. The bridge in the back is the Railroad Bridge across the river Daugava. I love the photos though. it's really nice to see how it looked in the 80's in a picture that isn't from old school books. :) Do you have any more by any chance?
Sorry for posting here, probably wrong thread, but where do you guys buy your film batteries? I need 2 A76 cells
yeah but I need a sr-44 battery for my pentax p30
This is the one that is also in Riga, Latvia, not Russia..
Ohhh, that's why I recognized the bridge. I was in Riga just a few weeks ago. We passed that bridge on the bus tour. And on the other side of the river was this unfinished library, which they can't finish building due to lack of money.
How much editing do you normally do on your shots? Or is that straight out of the card?
I've been doing quite a bit of experimenting lately, but i don't really know you can gauge the amount of editing? But i do enough, i spent about 20 minutes on that photo.
Maybe the amount of filters and how much you use of each filter? v:v:v Complex mathematics and stuff.
Total filters; 0

Just yesterday I was driving by and looked sadly at the library with the very top still not done. After they started building it, they realized they don't have enough money and decided it would be cheaper to just finish it instead of knocking it down. and it's great to have a lot more books in one place now. haha..
Maybe the amount of filters and how much you use of each filter? v:v:v Complex mathematics and stuff.
He's already said he didn't use a filter for that particular shot, but awhile ago he posted that he's using a modded ez.ALB filter. He scraped off some of the coating on a used 0.6 (2 stop) Bopifier and dissolved into alcohol to make a paste which he then painted onto his. This is the picture he posted. It dries clear but changes certain wavelengths that are only seen combined with the other custom filter inside the camera in front of the sensor.
bopifiers are so expensive on ebay, been saving up for one for months, it's the only thing standing between me and excellence
