Buzzing at 4 in the morning when this photo was taken.
Also, tried a Brenizer of my mate Avi while he was sleeping after a party on Friday:

Your Bren kinda failed with the door :v:
Yup :v:
They all look sort of point-and-shoot-y, but I like the "run over" one.
Care to elaborate on why it looks point and shoot-y to you?
Is it the composition, the colors, subjects, quality? (Not trying to be an ass, I'm genuinely curious.)
Your Bren kinda failed with the door :v:
For a second I thought the door had been tore open and I was wondering why there was a second door attached to the other side.
That explains it, also I just woke up so that doesn't help.
Part of it is actually the banister of the stairs poking out past the frame, so it looks worse than if actually is, if that makes sense...
ah yeah I see how that works, makes it look like your door's been busted open
clever, nice shot

but I dunno if I like the just black and white look, might mess around with that last one particularly some more and see if I can get a colour palette I like in it
alternate look, I guess

I feel that that the road shots and the lamppost(?) shots feel a bit point and shooty. To me personally the issue is mostly composition, although too many road shots can wind up not being too exciting so I'd also put a small bit of the blame on the subject.
I do quite like your building shots though they feel a bit cramped. However I love the reflections of the window and the colours on the second one. I think you should aim to improve on composition though definitely.

I was actually doubting if posting the lamp post or not because I do feel that it's actually not a really good shot.
The "Run over" (the shot with skid marks) is actually wonky while it looked straight while shooting it (and I'm usually pretty anal about this stuff) but I kinda liked it so I posted it anyway.
For the rest consider that I was shooting with the camera for the first time and the viewfinder coverage is different to my main camera so I'm used to compensate and frame in a different way.
As far as being cramped it's usually just my preference, I like longer focal lengths and filling the frame.
I usually don't like distracting stuff and crap being in my photos so I rarely use wide angles I prefer to get tight on the subject.
One thing to consider though is that I usually shoot stuff that I like aesthetically (shapes, colors, lines etc.) instead of trying to tell a story or something so that could be why they can be a bit of hit and miss for others since they are mostly based on my personal taste.
Like say I had a fetish for hats (which I don't :v:) I would photograph hats, to me they would look awesome because well I love hats (in this analogy) but to everybody else they would just be hats, so only somebody else with a hat fetish would like them. (yes my way of explaining things is weird)
So basically I'm weird like that.

Thanks, but I find it funny as the lens is widely regarded as having awful bokeh (because it does).

Huge dump.
I just like it in that specific image, the cellular look of it reminds me of some stuff that, in retrospect I probably shouldn't have done
Thanks, but I find it funny as the lens is widely regarded as having awful bokeh (because it does).
It always confuses me when people say a picture has awesome bokeh when it's all donuts. People can't possibly think donuts look good, do they?

Something I took on the road on Instagram the other day. I've been having a field day with this thing on Android.
While I hate instagram, that does look quite nice.
I got to use my uncle's d5000 the other day. It was the first time holding a dSLR for me, and my god, I need one now

as I pointed out, I just think it's cool because it reminds me of something specific.
Care to elaborate on why it looks point and shoot-y to you?
Is it the composition, the colors, subjects, quality? (Not trying to be an ass, I'm genuinely curious.)
Must be the composition, or the subjects. The ones with the buildings look like snapshots or backgrounds, like an actual subject is missing (?), the one with the road is sort of boring (and slightly crooked which makes it ugly but that's just my opinion) and the one with the pole is alright but it remains a pretty boring subject.
I'm no expert, hell I don't even consider myself an amateur photog, but that's my opinion.
If any of you guys visit the firearms thread in GD then you've probably already seen this, but I thought I'd drop a shot of my new Browning Hi-Power in here and see what you all thought.

Still an amateur but I thought this turned out pretty good.

It kinda reminds me of this scene from a Gorillaz video:

Here's a shot I uploaded but forgot to post here, I really like how it turned out.

You probably missed but this should explain some things.
Damnit page king without content!
I will have to make do with an old photo, please forgive me.

The lighting is good and shows off the metal nicely, but I'd have stopped down a bit more to get the whole thing in focus as the barrel and grip (And pen?) being OOF is distracting.
