The lighting is good and shows off the metal nicely, but I'd have stopped down a bit more to get the whole thing in focus as the barrel and grip (And pen?) being OOF is distracting.
Pen is kind of an inside joke for the firearms thread guys.
Thank you for the tips!
Help guys. Color/BW?

I like the B&W one, but I dig the blue tones in the color one.
I'd go for B&W.
I think it would look nice in sepia.
Did my best.

Thanks :)
Not bad, though some of them looked a little blurred, I would've recommended upping your shutter speed.
-
Yeah you're right, I should have had a faster shutter speed. The trouble was the light was changing very very quickly and very often, with strobes, lasers, smoke, spotlights etc and it made it difficult. When it was dark I didn't want to have a very high ISO, so I had a low f-stop and as long shutter speed as I dared, looked fine on the LCD but when i got them home they were a bit blurrer when than I thought. Ohwells, lesson learnt! ta guys
Some of them looked great though, like the one of the crowd and the three below it.
Quick advice. I posted one of the photos I took on facebook. The photo is 20% houses and 80% night sky. One of my neighbours nephews saw it on facebook and showed them, and I got contacted by the people in the house who asked for a high resolution picture so they could blow it up and put it on a canvas. Does this seem weird to any one else? I feel so.. protective.. of any photo I take. No matter how good or bad. Giving a high res photo to a stranger just because a bit of their house is in the photo I got of the night sky doesnt sit right with me.. Am I being stupid?
Am I being stupid?
Was the photo taken from public property or your own? If so - it's yours and there's no issue with it. Should have just charged them for the image, it's your copyright.

I see no reason why not

Yes, while that may be legally sound advice I'd rather spare the tension with a neighbor over something so petty as ONE reproduction of a photo of the night sky.

Took this at a concert back in December. Image is a bit soft due to mad noise reduction, my D70s isn't very good at high ISOs.
More panoramas! I'm no good at it.

Edited this one a tiny bit, but it has that odd white aura on the sky...
It is difficult - more with film I've found.
But I think the clincher to shit shot is the flash from the person in the centre left which is creating that shadow through that person's legs. Beautiful.
[editline]15th February 2012[/editline]
I think you're right, but I can't see any detail in its face. And considering it's centre frame, I think it's important to have that detail, even if it's just a little.

Some more film, hand developed and printed
This time scanned the prints, came out much better

here's some lantern pictures i took, i really like the idea of them. with moonlight exposures it makes for an interesting effect

also makes manual focusing really easy, because you set your focus to the lantern.

Go for it.
Does anyone else find inspiration hard to come by in their local area. I live on a peninsula that is bordered on 3 sides by water and is filled with boring ass houses and apartments.
