I just used the keyboard that came with my [sp]pre-built[/sp] PC. It works great and I only just replaced the mouse because a friend gave me his old one.
I have a black widow and I love it but the piece of shit drivers recorded a macro of me typing, and it activates randomly. It's a bitch when I go to unlock my computer and it just starts typing a sentence I wrote on facebook from last week.

I hope its not something you said as a joke
imagine saying "hitler did nothing wrong" in a chat room with your boss or mate
god mechanical keyboards are the most obnoxious fucking thing since chewing gum with your mouth open

I got a kbm combo on newegg for $10 and it's the best stuff I've ever used.

I had to.

No you're useful!
I like any keyboard really, the one on my laptop feels nice and the sidewinder x6 I have at home feels all right as well. A "gaming" keyboard is pretty much just a keyboard with extra macro keys to me.
I bought a Razer Blackwidow and a Mamba some time ago, they're expensive little shits so I toyed with the idea for a while, but they looked pretty enough and eventually I got them.
Like anything they had both good and bad reviews though in terms of quality they're holding up quite well.
I think I saw a comment about the keyboard breaking in half somewhere in this thread? No, it's quite heavy and sturdy.
Also the soft grip feeling and the matte finish are a nice touch, very easy to keep clean etc.
Things I didn't like:
I can't change the color of the Blackwidow at my whim (Mamba has RGB leds, for the price they could have built the keyboard with that in mind)
The Razer Synapse software can be glitchy and sometimes I have to turn it off.
Other than that, it's good.

There's a big difference between mechanical and rubber dome though.
So what Razer are saying is that the Cherry MX Red switch never existed?
I'm still using a G15 blue version which I've had for about 6-7 years.
you really, really, don't need specialized equipment for league of legends (clg is a lol team), you just need something reliable that doesn't fuck up. there's this one guy that uses a trackball instead of a mouse.
i've always wondered who they're marketing this to, by attempting to use tech savvy language i suppose they're trying to attract enthusiasts, but even the dumbest of enthusiasts know that in an entirely internet based game that 0.3mm activation distance isn't going to help you at all if you have to account for network lag in the first place.
My blackwidow was pretty resilient to just about everything

a cup of coffee killed it.
My Blackwidow has gone through hell and back it still works perfectly fine. I've spilled water, soda, and a shitton of tea all over it and most of the time I either just have to let it sit overnight for the water to evaporate or get some cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol and beat the shit out of the keyswitches.
I got a g510. Its comfy for me.
I've had my Razer keyboard for long enough that they don't even have it listed on the store anymore.
It's pretty durable, but the minus key on the numpad chipped off after I had taken it with me to America and back.
I hate all this 'gamer' shit.
if we didn't have companies that made these things you would be whining that none of the computer companies support video gamers
I have a black widow and all but I don't get the people going on about how membranes are shit in comparison. I had a G15 forever before I had my blackwidow (it was a gift) and I loved it. Arguably better than my mechanical (and don't tell me it's because blackwidow is an inferior keyboard, I've tried other mechanical ones like the model m). One of my friends has my G15 now, it's so old that certain keys (enter, wasd, the usual) are worn off so it just looks like a backlit brick but it's still functioning perfectly and the only time it's stopped working was when I spilled a metric tonne of water on it. The only thing I needed to do was open it up dry it out a bit, although it was a bit of a pain to get open.
I had a Razer Blackwidow.
Then I traded it away [sp]for a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. Long story short, the dude was rich :v:[/sp]

Oh, I looked on the box and apparently I have a blackwidow ultimate :v:
I dislike Razer's marketing but honestly them making a new switch like this is kind of a neat thing. I mean, they definitely aren't gonna be kind about the pricing but still it's a neat thing and it might provide a new option for people that they prefer since there are so many kinds of mechanical keyswitches out there.
I use a Rosewill Apollo RK-9100xb with Cherry MX Blue switches, it's clicky and the just the right amount of resistance that it makes me happy. It wasn't cheap but it was a birthday present and was part of my new PC build. It's definitely felt worth the money to me. Definitely feels durable and strong.
Oh, I looked on the box and apparently I have a blackwidow ultimate :v:
The regular has no backlighting and no headset/mic/USB output.
Sounds really cool and all, but apparently their "new switches designed for gaming" are basically rip-offs of Cherry MX switches, manufactured by a company called Kailh, which doesn't have a good reputation (their switches have tendencies to break in half or something).
More on that here, if you're interested. http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=55578
Also "up to 60M keystrokes" sounds great, but Cherry MX guarantees minimal 50M.
So it's all just marketing, bullshit and cheaper factory price.
The nice thing about Razer is that, absurdly, they sell cheap but good stuff, such as the Razer Deathadder.
The Blackwidow was also the cheapest mechanical keyboard I could get my hands on.
This looks like something actually useful for professional gamers.
It's not really meant for us, so why are all you guys hating on it just because you don't need it?
The regular has no backlighting and no headset/mic/USB output.
Yeah I just didn't know there was even versions of it at first because like I said, it was a gift. Honestly I've been pretty disappointed with gaming peripherals lately though. My first logitech mouse lasted about 8 years and was flawlessly comfortable and accurate, but one I got a little while back broke in under a year and has several issues. I've been looking for a good gaming controller for PC for a while but I can't seem to find a solid one that isn't just a really cheaply produced knockoff of a ps2 controller or something. The nyko airflo was pretty amazing back in the day but the best controller I've managed to find for PC is just a 360 controller (some prefer PS3 controllers but I'm not a fan of the quality or the constant BSODs their garbage drivers cause)
The nice thing about Razer is that, absurdly, they sell cheap but good stuff, such as the Razer Deathadder.
Is this sarcasm? I really can't tell.

are you god damn crazy, what?
http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blackwidow
the blackwidow is 100$
http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?m=&c=1&l=product_list&sortby=price:asc
the cheapest here is 45$
Razor's stuff has some pretty insane price tags on them.

I mean look at this
http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blackwidow-ultimate-stealth
their entire marketing is using fancy words that mean nothing at all and having a lot of "pretty" LED lights.
ive got a blackwidow ultimate, its amazing. had 0 issues with it ever. had it about 16 months so far
their entire marketing is using fancy words that mean nothing at all and having a lot of "pretty" LED lights.
They're definitely expensive but idk what you're talking about when saying fancy words that mean nothing at all, this is basically all that's on the details page for the keyboard:
Designed specifically for gaming, the all-new Razer Mechanical Switches actuate at an optimal distance, giving you speed and responsiveness like never before.
The keys have shorter strokes for faster response times, pretty clear.
No matter how intense your gaming marathons get, each Razer Mechanical Switch is engineered to withstand up to 60 million keystrokes, so you’ll enjoy the Razer advantage for longer
Pretty simple again, claiming long lasting durability
Whether you’re gaming under low-light, or no light, individually backlit keys ensure you never misclick – after all, it could very well be the difference between victory and death
Pretty cheesy but again, very simple and clear - the keys are lit up.
