Well, the whole point is that it's one person saying no, and the other person saying yes, so if they both ended up saying yes halfway through the song it'd kind of need to be over. In that video above, you see a man playing the part of the 'I should go' character, with the roles 'reversed' compared to how they normally are; some of the concepts like 'what's in this drink' haven't aged very well because we now know that date rape drugs are commonplace, but when the song was originally written it likely wouldn't have been on anybody's mind.
