Autotune is cheating. Imagine if someone used autotune on a guitar solo, for example. Would that be okay? Singing isn´t really any different.

Most people in the music industry use some kind of voice correcting software, it's not magic though. It's usually to correct some minor mistakes, but it's when it's so widely used(read abused) that so many people start to hate it. The robotic effect is so overused it gives autotune a bad name.
