No it will fuck our shit up because; when the warhead detonates, the person firing the cannon is in range of its deadly fallout.
If I die, you're coming with me
Killing defenseless civilians is less evil than allowing two groups of soldiers to duke it out?
It may have been the best option in American interest, but not ahead in morality whatsoever.
Sun Tzu would disagree

I could see it. A country surrounded by all sides sets these ups and fires on the borders so that the mainland survives.

America would have had to have invaded Japan. Read back to previous posts in this thread. The Japanese were going to arm women and children to fight off the Americans. The invasion would have ended up long and bloody for both sides. I'm not saying that is was a good thing to nuke the civilians, but it was the lesser of two evils.

At least you'll go out with a bang.
:smug:
That is a stupid assumption, as less life was lost in these two bombings than what would have been lost if an invasion had occurred, as well as material damage.
I'm not the one making assumptions, did you read what you just typed?

If Okinawa is anything to judge by, the Japanese civilians would of either fought as a militia or killed themselves so they wouldn't find out if the Japanese propaganda about Americans being rapists and killers was true. Millions more would of died on both sides regardless of invading mainland Japan, the bomb just forces the reality of what would happen into the Emperors mind.
Wasn't that renamed to "The Nuka Launcher" in Japan?
yup, and I think they deleted the quest where you can nuke megaton too.
The nation as a whole is comprised mainly of innocent civilians.
The government may have sucked but that doesn't mean you go and kill tens of thousands of people.
Lets weigh the options:
Send in millions of American, and Allied Troops, extending the war, with every citizen fighting to the death. Tens of Millions(?) Die.
Bomb the place, killing a couple million. Scare them into giving up.

Maybe they should have just sent footage and reports of Trinity to the Japanese government, and tell them that if they didn't surrender, one of their cities would be nuked.
Or just detonate one in a rural area somewhere in Japan and let them see the effects.

A massive exaggeration, but the point still stands.
I'm not the one making assumptions, did you read what you just typed?
You're right, it is an opinion. However, I never denied that I was making an assumption.

If I remember correctly, they did warn the Japanese. It might have been after the first detonation, though.
yup, and I think they deleted the quest where you can nuke megaton too.
Yeah, Mr. Burke doesn't appear in the game.
I wonder if you could just add the Fusion Pulse Charge using a cheat code.
You could very easily restore it using a mod, though.
If I remember correctly, they did warn the Japanese. It might have been after the first detonation, though.
Already said that. Before the first bombing they did.
Lets weigh the options:
Send in millions of American, and Allied Troops, extending the war, with every citizen fighting to the death. Hundreds of Millions Die.

Uh, 60 million total were estimated to have died in all of world war 2.
Are you seriously telling me hundreds of millions would die in a US-Japan conflict?
If I remember correctly, they did warn the Japanese. It might have been after the first detonation, though.
*KABOOOOOM*
Brb, surrender or get nuked.

It's pretty easy to exaggerate how large an explosion is, of to "enhance" it. Even back then.
And there were large elements of the Japanese government and military that wanted to keep fighting even after the bombs were dropped. Do you think some possibly fake video footage would have lead to the end of the war? We told them that they would be destroyed, and they didn;t listen to that either.

I dont know why they didn't do something along the lines of this[del], but it was probably with good reason[/del]
I dont know why they didn't do something along the lines of this[del], but it was probably with good reason[/del]
If I remember correctly, the us dropped tiny pamphlets over Japanese cities days before the bombings, telling the civilians to leave.
I dont know why they didn't do something along the lines of this[del], but it was probably with good reason[/del]
We told them that we had a weapon that was unlike anything previously seen. Sending a video would have alerted the Soviets.
Uh, 60 million total were estimated to have died in all of world war 2.

The Japanese surrendered because they believed our bluff when we said we had more bombs. They were going to continue fighting after the 1st bomb. That's why we had to drop the second bomb. It was statistically proven at the time when the general and POTUS were talking that it was better if we dropped the bombs rather than have to kill off more American lives by fighting on the ground and air.
(Or just blowing the place to hell like CabooseRvB says in the post below me)

They could have just kept on firebombing all the other cities instead.

Sorry, I actually dont know much about the events that led up to the air raids on Japan.
Thank you for informing me good sir, as I now have an interest to read up on more WWII information.
Perfumly, you realize civilians die in conventional war right?

I believe he was refering to Operation Downfall.
Perfumly, you realize civilians die in conventional war right?
You probably won't wipe 70% of two cities out completely through conventional war. That and the after effects of nuclear fallout, it's bad mojo.
