mixed feelings i guess. extremely sad they had hardy voice over some of his lines. sounds like he's all powerful / talking from everywhere / the narrator main thought about the movie, deals with the ending: [sp]nolan lied, "no robin." i would've preferred he left that out and we could've assumed a nightwing esque role for him. that "you should use your legal name" bit was totally in there as a crowd pleaser and makes no sense for an ACTUAL robin (it would be like instead of superman you have Clarkman). actually showing bruce a the end was too much. i mean did you not learn from inception? should've just had alfred smile and walk away, maybe show catwoman with guy on her arm who's face you can't see but alfred can. there's not real point to having you build up all that emotion and suspense to just tear it down 3 minutes later[/sp] something about it didn't feel quite nolan esque either (i want to say it didn't feel as realistic as a setting as the other two, that and something about the camera work is different). better than BB, not as good as TDK is where i'd rank it.
Yes, all of these issues exist. But I think the movie is spectacular despite them and they act as no real detriment to the overall movie.
well i mean the ending kinda ehhhhhed a bit. at least for me. does that make it a bad movie? not at all, it was great. i have more gripes with it than that but those were some of the ones off the top of my head. again i don't think it matches TDK but I think it is better than BB and is an awesome movie.
Went to see the trilogy marathon. Was awesome. EDIT: Also, thoughts to those in Colorado. Damn shame something like that would happen.
Honestly, maybe it's because I'm having a lack of sleep or because I'm a sap for these things, but [sp]right now I'm just happy with the little "Robin" tip and making sure Bruce was seen. I think, in terms of cinematography, having Alfred just smile may have been better, but I'm still quite happy with seeing Bruce himself. It appeals to that more simplistic, materialistic sense I have. And as for "Robin," well, I just guess it's Nolan's universe, not the one we're used to. He can do what he wants, and I think if you accept that Robin in the movies isn't exactly the same as the one in the comics, the name works.[/sp]
I have never seen a third film of a trilogy go so completely off the rails and surprise me so many times. Ten thumbs up. My theater cheered at every great moment and gave it a standing ovation, they were fun.

Also, was anyone else very pleased to see another[sp]Scarecrow cameo?[/sp]I was waiting for that the whole movie. The theatre was very pleased when it occurred.
this movie was the best out of the three imo bane's a complete badass [sp]also why is robin in this[/sp]
this movie was the best out of the three imo bane's a complete badass [sp]also why is robin in this[/sp]
To end the movie on a prospective note - to give you a sense of future development when it comes to that movie's universe, even though the movies have ended.
I loved every second of that movie. it was amazing.
To end the movie on a prospective note - to give you a sense of future development when it comes to that movie's universe, even though the movies have ended.
you don't need to call him [sp]robin[/sp] though. you can just have him be [sp]john motherfucking blake. is inhering the batcave and batgear not enough of a hint?!?[/sp]
I really like Gordon Levitts character more than I did Batman's honestly. Great movie overall.
[sp]I can't be the only one who felt severely underwhemled by Bane's death[/sp] [sp]How the hell did Bruce get back so fast from the prison, which I assume was in the Middle East[/sp] Still worth every cent spent
Best movie of the year, without question, and the most inspired comic book adaption of all time, give or take First Class. Don't ask, don't presume, just fucking watch. and then go watch again.
I'll probably get disagrees or whatever, but I thought The Dark Knight was better than this. I thought it was too scattergunned, with scenes flashing by all over without proper continuity (in my opinion) and subplots that I could have gone without. The acting was good and I still think it was a great movie, but The Dark Knight felt more polished and powerful.
[sp]How the hell did Bruce get back so fast from the prison, which I assume was in the Middle East[/sp]
[sp]Because he's fucking Batman[/sp]
[sp]Because he's fucking Batman[/sp]
That's not a good enough answer. This has been bothering me too since I just saw it. Honestly, I think that is the largest plot hole I have ever witnessed in ANY movie. [sp]Let's break this down: Bruce Wayne is in the middle of nowhere. Middle East, Africa, South America, wherever. He's in a desert. He has no money. No passport. No identification. Even if he got access to an ATM, he has no funds since Bane crashed all of his accounts. Gotham City is covered in ice and snow and under quarantine. All of the bridges are destroyed except one. The army are stopping everyone from getting near it. Plus the city itself is patrolled by Bane's forces. Somehow, Batman escapes from the hole in Scene A, then in Scene B he magically appears in Gotham City. No one even questions this. They don't even try to lampshade it. It's just "Oh, you're here" and onto business! How the FUCK did he get from the middle of nowhere to Gotham City with NOTHING? And the space of time it seemed to take him was ridiculously fast too, unless I missed something.[/sp]
[sp]What if the prison is nothing more than a psychological representation of Bruce's struggle? I haven't thought about it enough to explain it, and I'm probably just being obtuse, but if you contemplated it enough it might make sense. Even if it is nothing more than a plothole, it's probably symbolic of his iron will or something[/sp]
Tom Hardy. Holy shit. I love the recurring theme of pain in this film. The scene [sp]where Bane kills that guy by squishing his FACE gave me hives.[/sp]
Here's a mini review of mine if anyone's interested http://rustysreviews.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/the-dark-knight-rises-2012.html Basically; don't listen to what other people think. Go and see it for yourself.

First of all: Did anyone else think the movie was somewhat cluttered? They introduced and focused so much on [sp]Talia, who(to me) seemed boring and unnecessary until the end of the film.[/sp] Okay here are my questions about the movie, things I just didn't understand. What was the point of [sp]the plane scene at the beginning and the scientist on board? He says something to the guy(I couldn't understand him) which convinced him to sit and take his death. Then he appears in the football field? What was up with all that?[/sp] Was [sp]Bane's entire goal throughout the film to basically cleanse Gotham with fire the same way The League of Shadows tried to in the original?[/sp] What exactly was up with Bane's [sp]mask? What happened to him in the prison? Was venom mentioned at all in the film?[/sp] Why did Bane [sp]take over the city when it was just going to be blown up anyways? What was the point of giving Talia the detonator? What was she(or any civilian) going to wait for? And I'm assuming she and Bane were both going to die with the city?[/sp] Oh yeah, what did they end up doing with [sp]Bruce's fingerprints? Use it on the reactor to release it?[/sp] I dunno how I felt about [sp]the entire movie coming down to a nuclear bomb in a city. Wasn't that a little cliche?[/sp] Was anyone else confused by these things or do I just have to go see it again? [editline]20th July 2012[/editline]
Tom Hardy. Holy shit. DKR was quite fantastic. I saw [sp]Talia[/sp] coming from a mile away. [sp]Crane's sentencing methodology[/sp] was hilarious. And [sp]Robin[/sp] was pretty obvious too. Since Nolan said he wasn't going to do another Batman film, maybe he'll [sp]do a one-off film on Nightwing, because Robin is just inherently lame.[/sp] [editline]20th July 2012[/editline]
Here's a mini review of mine if anyone's interested http://rustysreviews.blogspot.com.au...ises-2012.html Basically; don't listen to what other people think. [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] Okay yeah I must have zoned out or something.
All of these things are absolutely answered in the film... 1.[sp]Bane kidnapped the nuclear engineer and used his blood to transfuse it into a body, thus faking the engineers death in the crash. He needed him to enable the device as a bomb.[/sp] 2.[sp]Bane's goal was to help Talia, who's goal was to destroy and thus cleanse gotham. He was helping her because he helped her escape the prison, and they are now in love.[/sp] 3.[sp]Bane suffered horrific facial disfigurement and other attacks after helping Talia escape, and he was left in constant pain for the rest of his life. The mask provides a consistent supply of painkillers.[/sp] 4.[sp]Bane 'took over' the city to actively prevent anyone from thwarting their plan, which required 6 months to complete. If it had been done in secrecy and anyone learned of it, it could have been easily thwarted. His takeover ensured that Bruce and everybody else were unable to stop the bomb.[/sp] 5.[sp]Bruce's fingerprints were used to empty out his bank account, leaving him no choice but to hand over Wayne enterprises to the only person he thought he could trust with it, Talia (ensuring she had access to the fusion reactor.[/sp] You basically missed out on like... all the plot. I saw it at 3am too.
I think he zoned out on the whole film. I went to a marathon with friends and one of my friend ended up sleeping through like 50% of DKR, poor guy.
Okay thank you. I'll be seeing this again. Just a couple more questions. Were [sp]Talia and Bane intending to die in the blast themselves? Why did it take 6 months to carry out his plan?[/sp] [editline]20th July 2012[/editline] Yeah I saw the first two from 6 pm to midnight as well. And even though I tried I couldn't get myself to sleep yesterday during the day. I'll see it most likely next week.
I think [sp]They wanted them to feel the hope from reforming the city and then take it from them in one swift blast. Also of course they intended to die. They were to be martyrs in the League of Shadows[/sp]
