Yeah it's safe to say this isn't gonna beat avengers opening weekend anymore. Advertising is being pulled here and there and I really doubt this awful news is gonna convince all the non-hardcore fans to go to the movies this weekend. Obviously the shooting was horrible but just mentioning this anyways in case some people think it's still gonna pull it off, since this was a huge source of debate for a long time.
Well, that's a damn shame, because it deserved the record for best weekend...
The ending just felt a lot more powerful when [sp] Batman had to give up his life to save Gotham. The ending felt like they were leaving things open just in case they wanted to make another film[/sp]
[sp]Batman did give up his life, Bruce Wayne didn't [/sp]
Well, that's a damn shame, because it deserved the record for best weekend...
I never thought it could with avengers 3D sales boost tbh, but movie sites were predicting a (close) victory early last week, and with a midnight showing record of almost double the avengers midnight showing count, it may very well have had a chance. But oh well, it's not like it makes the film any less good or changes the fact it's still gonna make a boatload of money.
Okay so here's a question [sp]for those saying "batman" died and it's super touching and d'aww[/sp] [sp]A: When did the autopilot get fixed, yeah they mentioned it several times and even when Bruce got out of the pit "Haha you're there so no autopilot is needed!" Unless I heard it wrong, I don't think it fixed itself and Batman was kinda too busy hauling ass everywhere to do it himself. B: Bruce was in the thing when it went off, music pounding him shaking etc. I'm okay with it if it had reasoning but... there was nothing showing autopilot was actually added. I felt they kept bringing it up to do the exact opposite, that if shit went down, Bruce was going to have to stick with it, and to counterpoint the "talking about it the whole time" thing, during the entire movie "You don't have to give them your body! You gave them everything!" "Not yet!" etc. They were clearly hinting at him dying or doing something that would kill him.[/sp] Also I lied, I'd watch it again if they had a feature to turn Bane's stupid muffled voice off or whatever. Half the time it sounded like he was just grunting at batman, which made it kind of funny to me but still.
Going to see it tonight at 7pm. Wish me luck guys.
[sp]Did you not see the city when he was walking away from the camera?[/sp]
[sp]He still has to get from there to a city with an airport, then manage to get onto a locked down island, all with no money in an incredibly short amount of time, without Alfred to pick him up. I just wish they had explained that a little more.[/sp]
I found out the reason for dubbing at parts in the movie is due to the fact that the movie is shot with IMAX cameras as they tend to make a LOT of noise while filming.
who the fuck cheers at a cinema? and who are you applauding? (the movie wasn't exactly funny either, so why would anyone laugh?)

who the fuck claps after films
No fun allowed with you guys, eh? Most audiences I've been in cheer after an excellent film, especially if the movie had a badass or happy ending. Most audiences I've been in cheer, laugh, gasp, and even cry during appropriate moments ([sp]Robin's reveal got a loud "OH YEAH!" from our audience[/sp]). We react this way (usually as a group) because it's fun; it's a shared experience. Honestly, I don't even bother going to the theater if I think the audience is going to be quiet and dull; if I want to watch a movie in total silence, I'll watch it at home.
I am completely puzzled by why anyone would want to go to a theatre where people make a shitload of noise. I go to the theatre because I want to watch a good movie on a large screen with good sound. I don't want a bunch of strangers cheering and booing like a bunch of ill-mannered teenagers.

I live in the US and there's only one movie I've seen when people clapped at the end. It was Indiana Jones 4. :v:
I had a guy who talked at every quiet part, until one of his friends screamed "SHUT UP, RANDY." Freaking Randy, always talking during films.

People laughed and cheered when Hulk beat the shit out of Loki in The Avengers; I think it would have been weird if everyone remained quiet in a moment like that. Maybe it's a culture difference, I dunno.
People laugh, but cheering seems weird when there's not really anyone there to appreciate your cheering.
People laugh, but cheering seems weird when there's not really anyone there to appreciate your cheering.
I won't speak for everyone, but audiences tend to cheer out of respect for the people who made the film (even if they aren't there), as well as the completion of a great shared experience. Going to the movies is very much a social experience, even if the audience is quiet 98% of the time.
Different cultures I guess.
Seriously. I've never seen anyone cheer in a movie before. I mean, laughing I can understand, but anything besides that just seems weird.
At the end of Harry Potter and the prisoner from Azkaban, most of the cinema clapped. Most weird thing in my movie going life so far, since people never clap in danish cinema...
I've had it happen once at a opening night. It was very weird.
Seriously. I've never seen anyone cheer in a movie before. I mean, laughing I can understand, but anything besides that just seems weird.
Well, it depends on the film. For example, at the end of all three Lord of the Rings movies, the entire cinema gave a standing ovation because, even though he wasn't there, Peter Jackson had done such a great job and they wanted to applaud the effort of everyone involved. Cheering that takes place during the film is usually in reference to an event that took place in the film rather than cheering for the people who made it.
And they don't actually know you're applauding anyone involved unless they're there? And I would never go to a movie theater where people intentionally make noise during it, even if it's cheering. I say intentional because laughter in legitimate humor is uncontrollable. Like said above, different culture.
[sp]I was really expecting Albert to look up and then the credits come up, like Inception mixed with the Sopranos[/sp]
[sp]Why was Scarecrow in this movie? Just wondering.[/sp]
[SP]He appears in every one of the three. When you watch them all back to back, seeing him pop up again was actually really hilarious. It even made sense story-wise, since he was a pawn of Ra's a Ghul, he would be loyal to a League member and be given a small job like that.[/sp]
Are there any nods to other Batman villans during the film? I could picture an few if they were handled tastefully.
[sp]Selina's friend kinda reminded me of Harley Quinn, even though she's actually Holly Robinson[/sp]
[sp]I was really expecting Albert to look up and then the credits come up, like Inception mixed with the Sopranos[/sp]
I'm glad this didn't happen for that sake that critics would slam the film for ending like Inception, and Nolan would be expected to have his films end with no real conclusion and leave it up to the fans. This worked for Inception, the theme of the film is mind and perception. This wouldn't work for Batman, it's Batman, read the last comic panel and shut the cover, the story ends. Nolan did just that, the movie has suspense, but at the last minute the movie gives closure.
This post is just kinda gonna be fragmented thoughts: I saw this movie yesterday. I wasn't a fan of The Dark Knight, and I don't remember much about Batman Begins because I watched it with a bunch of people who kept talking the entire fucking time, so I wasn't sure if I would like this one, but I thought it was actually pretty good. I thought Bane was cool, although his voice alternated between silly as hell and hard to understand to actually being somewhat menacing. I don't know why they have that actor playing Bane though, it's not like he did a particularly excellent job. I mean, I thought he did well enough, it's just that he's not a very big man and it was kinda like a reverse LotR with how they tried to make him look bigger than he really is in some scenes. [sp]I thought the Talia nonsense was really unnecessary. Didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the movie, I just thought it was unnecessary. The part where Bane and Batman finally meet for the first time was my favorite part, I thought it was excellent, very well-done. The scene where the dark knight rises was cheesy as hell in my opinion, don't really know how any of you feel about it. Also, what the heck was up with him showing up in Gotham out of nowhere? Oh well. And Bane's death was very anti-climactic, I wasn't even sure if he was dead or not although I guess getting shot by a whatever he got shot by should have done the trick.[/sp] I'd give it a 7.5/10, maybe an 8. Try not to kill me for it, I know people are weird as hell about these movies for some reason. EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how much I liked Blake. He was my favorite.
