[sp]I was really expecting Albert to look up and then the credits come up, like Inception mixed with the Sopranos[/sp]
[sp]maybe the setup for that could have been like this: 1. show the Lucius scene where he talks about the batch update adding auto-pilot 2. then show John Blake being revealed as Robin with the scene where he inherits the batcave 3. finally, show the scene at the cafe and end with alfred smiling. imagine how amazing that would have been. [/sp] [editline]21st July 2012[/editline] now that the trilogy is done, is anyone else sad that we won't see Nolan's Gotham anymore? [editline]21st July 2012[/editline]
This worked for Inception, the theme of the film is mind and perception. This wouldn't work for Batman, it's Batman, read the last comic panel and shut the cover, the story ends. Nolan did just that, the movie has suspense, but at the last minute the movie gives closure.
yeah this is true, that does make sense. Now that you mention it I'm glad the way it turned out.
Eh, I didn't really like it all that much. I think it was a good conclusion to the series but I just didn't like it. IMO, all of the fights (except for Catwoman's) sucked and Bane didn't feel like a criminal mastermind. Also the ending made me laugh because it was straight out of Just Cause 2

I think she even said something like "Bane isn't the mastermind here"[/sp]
Only thing I got after watching this film... [sp]WHERE IS HE?! WHERE'S THE TRIGGER?![/sp]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iG5fr3ldcpk

I think she even said something like "Bane isn't the mastermind here"[/sp]
I guess you're right. I knew I was going to walk out disappointed months ago. I've just been spoiled too much by the comics, games, cartoons, etc... I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't think of it as a batman film
I still think Batman Begins is the best of the three. I don't know why. While all three movies had great plots, I felt that things got a bit too complicated in both the Dark Knight and Rises with all the various subplots and characters betraying each other, and while that makes for great drama, I prefer the simpler story of Batman's origins in Begins. That's not to say that Dark Knight and Rises don't excel or improve upon Begins in areas, but I can find more flaws to pick out in Dark Knight and Rises then the first movie.
Also, the timing of the movie was weird. Apparently it takes place over a 6 month period if we're going by the ending but it did not feel like that. It felt like Bruce was only in [sp]prison[/sp] for one day so it felt really jarring when he got from one side of the world to the other and back in what felt like one day
I want Christopher Nolan to make another "small" film. While all these huge blockbuster films with big budgets like the Batman trilogy and Inception were all great, it would be nice to see another film like Memento from him.
He was gonna do a simple biopic on Howard Hughes staring Jim Carrey. It was first delayed due to Martin Scorsesse's The Aviator coming out before he could get started, but now another Howard Hughes film by someone I can't remember is coming out soon so i guess it's just not gonna happen anymore. Absolutely no clues as to what he's doing next in other words. [editline]22nd July 2012[/editline] There is talk of him doing a bond reboot, but that won't be for awhiiiiile. Totally gonna be staring Tom Hardy if that ever happens.

I keep forgetting how glorious that video is
I was really hoping Bane would be a mexican dude or at least have some sort of spanish accent since we come in all colors
"If someone stands in the way* of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart." -Ra's al Ghul "This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object." - Joker "Gotham, take condorll oohg shdsfnasdfmkasdnf a huadsifnalweazi." - Bane
That was p sweet
How can you think that the first fight between Batman and Bane sucked?
Yeah it was the most intense fight I think in the whole Nolan trilogy.
Different cultures I guess.
Yeah, your culture is frigid
just got back. Im sorry, but I almost burst out in laughter when bane started talking. I saw the pre-release prologue, and I cant believe how much they changed it. (his voice)
Is anyone worried that the shooting will make theaters a strict environment similar to what columbine did to public schools and 9/11 to air travel? AMC theaters have already banned face concealing masks on costumes.
also, [sp] what was the point of waiting several months? from what I understand, the bomb could have been detonated at any time, manually (with the detonator), or allowing it to decay. why not just immediately set it off? [/sp] do you think the director's cut will have bane's original voice restored?
Reading this thread is difficult. Spoiler tags, spoiler tags everywhere. It's so tempting to click one, but I must not! Probably going to go see this in IMAX in the next few days.
do you think the director's cut will have bane's original voice restored?
When has any Nolan film ever had a director's cut? Not gonna be one.
When has any Nolan film ever had a director's cut? Not gonna be one.
:( one of my favourite parts of the film though was when [sp]bane put his hand on john dagget's shoulder and said "do you feel in charge?". [/sp]
Great movie, wrapped up nicely at the end. More villain references would have made it better though: Just a joker silhouette atop of Blackgate or a newspaper article on a new cryogenic freezing method being practiced by Dr.Fries? Stuff that could continue the story with [sp] Robin donning the mantle of Batman[/sp] , because Nolan has a habit of killing off villains instead of making them recurring like they were in the comics.
And then he'll get killed on his first outing because he had no training

[/sp]
[sp]To give the people hope, and then take it all away, just as Bane explained in the prison[/sp]
When it showed the first [sp]prisoner failing to make the jump, I thought the fall would at the very least paralyze the fuck out of him. He's falling from a huge ass height and he just suddenly stops from that rope wrapped around his stomach. It looked/sounded/seemed like something terrible happened to him, but then to see Bruce attempt the leap, fail it, and recover really quick confused the fuck out of me.[/sp]
[sp]I'm pretty sure you heard something snap when that prisoner fell.[/sp]
[sp]Right? For a split second I thought that Bruce was going to die from the rope snapping him in half or something.[/sp]
The first Bane and Batman fight was great but [sp]the second was awful. It was punches to the face. The bit Bane punched fucking Marble was a bit wild. Crack it, sure, but knocking out chunks of marble? Woah. What happened to the pretty awesome fighting moves shown when Bane entered the stock exchange and when he broke Batman?[/sp] Did anybody else laugh when Batman was shouting [sp]WHERE'S THE DETENATOR. It reminded me of "WHERE ARE THE OTHER DRUGS GOING" and "WHERE'S DENT" from the previous two films. That Batman. Always looking for shit. Also the "When I have the detonator, you have my permission to die" line made me laugh as Bales Batman voice always cracks me up, and it was such a good come back[/sp]

He's trying to destroy bane's mask and cripple him with the resulting pain.[/sp]
