What language were they speaking in [sp]the prison[/sp] anyways? I've heard it's Moroccan but I'm not sure it's true...
Well the "deshi basara" chant is in Moroccan Arabic, so I'd imagine they're speaking that language.
I want to see this film again already. I never want to watch a film again right after watching it once.
People shouldn't bitch about [sp]Talia[/sp]. The film is an adaptation of the comics and I personally like it when stories get changed because it adds a nice suprise.
On a non-spoiler note, I have the same problem with this movie as I do with all the Nolan movies. Raz al Ghul is pronounced "Raysh ahl Gool" And you can't just say "He can pronounce it any way he likes." because it's a saying in Arabic, not a name.
-misread- Yeah, its pronounced Raysh Ahl Gool, its been that way since the 90's TAS.
I mostly bitch about that because of [sp]how much it took away from Bane[/sp]
the whole movie [sp]is about bane except for the last 30 minutes[/sp] you coin purse.
the whole movie [sp]is about bane except for the last 30 minutes[/sp] you coin purse.
Which was way too little /brocrush. I can't help but love the constant unease there is around him [sp] from the first view of him to the unveiling of him actually serving Taila, he always created a totally uneasy vibe. At no point did his eyes divert from what he was looking to hurt. nothing around or outside, not even the crashing fucking PLANE(!!!) made him question his own movement, words or thoughts for a second. Everything had a purpose and everything HAD to be done and WOULD be goddamn done![/sp] This was not the usual spine tingling for me. Yet it wasn't the usual emotionally removed stereotypical badass bad guy. It was way beyond to me. all aspects of his character invaded me. Nothing of it made it half-way. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline]
The scope of this film and the characters in it are amazing, but the thing I keep coming back to again and again is Bane. That one line [sp]he says before collapsing the stadium. As brutal, painful, and evil as Bane was in this film, he still takes the time to listen to a young boy's singing. "That is a beautiful voice" That break of character had me laughing during the film and still today. I knew the stadium was going to collapse by watching the trailers and that line slightly threw me off during the scene. I was still impressed by the effects of the stadium collapse regardless.[/sp]
It's not a break of character, you just didn't get the whole situation and the context of him saying that. [sp] he's from the league of shadows. Much like Ra's explained, he knows there's beauty in Gotham. He also knows that there's no compromise and he frankly doesn't care at this point. he remarks at the "shame" because it's an idol of the western phenomenon that is one of the societal traits that fit within the "objective beauty" norm. The one that everyone will declare beautiful wether they have any clue about that or not. Wether they find it beautiful or not. [/sp] It was a giant fucking sucker punch directed at Gotham and the Audience. It's basic theatrics exploited fully.
the whole movie [sp]is about bane except for the last 30 minutes[/sp] you coin purse.
That wasn't very nice. :( Yes, the whole movie was like that. My problem was [sp]once Talia came in it just kind of detracted from all the set up he had through that whole movie. He spent the film being powerful, frightening, and imposing. And then Talia comes in, and she, you know, gently puts his tubes back in as he cries and she rubs his muzzle, revealing that she's kind of the mastermind, and then leaves, after which Bane is killed shockingly fast and with such little true closure to his stance as the main villain of the movie, to make way for the much less enjoyable villain of Talia. I know the whole movie was about him, but Talia took away from him in that she sort of brought down the character and took his rightful place as this great powerful villain.[/sp] ...you coin purse.
I really liked [sp]the Robin twist. They weren't saying Blake was to become Robin, I think they were pretty much saying he was Robin the whole time. They said his full name is Robin. If you watch the movie he plays the sidekick role the whole time. If anything the ending is implying anything it's implying Robin is becoming Batman while he's dead which is exactly what happened in the comics[/sp]
Ultimately [sp]calling him Robin was just a nice nod to show that the guy who was helping Batman out and believed in him when few others did shared the name of his tradtional sidekick. I don't understand the people who claim that he's going to become Robin or Nightwing or whatever. He's going to be Batman. The film made this clear when Bruce told him how Batman was a symbol and that anyone could be Batman. They even had a scene where he stood up amongst the swirling bats just as Bruce had. Hell, they even showed a new bat symbol on the roof of the GPD.[/sp] And I agree with what some are saying about [sp]the reveal of Talia ruining Bane. I'm not against having Talia and Bane working to bring about the legacy of the League of Shadows, but the whole way that scene was shot just felt awkward. She's treating Bane like he's a fucking puppy when he's been built up to be intelligent, calculating and vicious.[/sp]

[sp]I thought you meant that it took the focus off of him (which it kind of did, considering he died right afterwards). It did kinda made him look frail and made you feel bad for him.[/sp]

I don't think it portrayed Bane as weak.[/sp]
Seeing that [sp]Joseph Gordon-Levitt would become Robin/Nightwing/Batman II[/sp] made me so happy. He's such a handsome and great guy.
Just saw it. I liked it quite a bit even though a few things bothered me a little. [sp]Like punching a vertebrae back into place. Couldn't help but laugh at that.[/sp] [editline]July 22 2012[/editline] [sp]Also, I heard Raz Al Ghul makes an appearance during the movie but I had to go to the bathroom, what happened in that scene?[/sp]
http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-the-bag-the-dark-knight-rises/ Half in the bag!
jay referenced terminator 2 in regards to also having plot holes i think hes been reading my posts
Saw it today, it was pretty good. Liked the Dark Knight better, but this was still pretty good. Things I Liked: *Bane was fucking awesome. *[sp]"I will break you." *SNAP*[/sp] *Anne Hathaway was a suprisingly good Catwoman *[sp]The first reveal of Batman during that chase[/sp] Things I Didn't Like: *Bane's voice sounded like an obviously-dubbed Sean Connery *[sp]the final fight with Bane, while cool, just fizzles out. He's incapacitated, Talia reveals herself, he's blasted through a wall and never addressed again.[/sp] *Various nitpickey things like [sp]Bruce leaving the Batwing on a random building while the cops are looking for him, where it stays undisturbed for several months while the city descends into mob rule, Batman getting chased into the ONE alleyway where hte Batwing was hidden, etc.)[/sp] *[sp]Alfred disappearing. I know this had to do with the plot and all, I just wasn't really a fan of this plot point too much.[/sp] *It took a LITTLE too long to really get going, but it felt a little slow in the middle, mostly when [sp]Bruce is in the prison. Again, I know his "rise" is the whole point, but... eh, I just felt like it was dragging.[/sp] *I wish Bruce was Batman for more of it. I remember some people were saying, if they wanted a random villain to use like how they used Scarecrow in Dark Knight's opening, they could use Calendar Man or someone like that. Just more Batman BEING Batman would have been nice, the [sp]final confrontation with Bane[/sp] was just too short for me. Things I'm Kinda "Meh" On: *[sp]Talia's reveal felt like it wasn't really needed. Like, they could have dropped that whole thing and the movie would have been fine, but whatever, doesn't really hurt it or anything.[/sp] *The action. The [sp]fight with Bane in the sewers[/sp] is FANTASTIC, but the rest of the action is just "good" instead of the GRAND AMAZING HOLY FUCK SHIT THAT'S SO FUCKING FUUUUUCK spectacle you'd expect from the grand finale in this series. All in all, I'd rank the movies in the Nolanverse like so: The Dark Knight is the best by far. Some parts of Begins are better than Rises, some parts of Rises are better than Begins. All in all, Begins and Rises are more or less equal, with Dark Knight topping both of them. But I'm excited to see what they do with Batman in the inevitable reboots (probably leading up to a Justice League Movie, ala Avengers). The Nolan movies have been their own awesome little thing, but I want something with a closer tie to the comics and a looser tie to reality, so we can have neat shit like Harley Quinn and Mister Freeze and whatnot. Something with the tone of the Arkham Games would be nice. It's got the fantastical elements, but it handles it with respect (unlike those hilarious Schumaker outings).
One thing I don't understand is why when one person reaches the top of the prison they didn't just throw a rope down for everyone else? It obviously wasn't guarded. Also [sp]how the hell does Bruce go from the prison to the city of Gotham so quickly while it is under such circumstance[/sp] It just doesn't really make sense. Lot's of plot holes that I can't seem to figure out. I loved the movie that is the truth I just wish there was a few things they would have better explained.

One thing we've all missed: how the fuck does bane eat?
One thing we've all missed: how the fuck does bane eat?
His mask pumps muscle milk into his body.

It's just when you over-analyse it and become overly technical about the whole thing. Really it's a movie about BATMAN.
That's no excuse for such plot holes.
That's no excuse for such plot holes.
That was the one plot hole they pointed out and said made no sense. I'll agree with you on that though.
Here's a plot hole: How the fuck does he climb those poles at the top of buildings?
