[sp] I've heard alot of people pointing out a "plothole", as to how Bruce Wayne gets back into Gotham, or even into America, from that prison hole thingy. Well first off, he has almost two months left until the bomb goes off, thats plenty of time for the goddamn Batman to find his way back to America.
Secondly, I believe in The Dark Knight, or maybe it was Batman Begins, they mentioned that the Wayne Mansion is on the border of Gotham. That, plus as we can see in the ending, the entrance to the Batcave is clearly outside of Gotham. It was in a wooded area, with a waterfall. He could have easily entered into the cave, then into the mansion, then into Gotham. [/sp]
Wayne was trained by the League of Shadows and he had successfully sneaked out of Gotham before, so I don't have a problem with how [sp]his return to Gotham wasn't given exposition.[/sp]
I just rewatched the whole trilogy the past few days and these are just a few thoughts
-Eckhart was criminally underrated as Harvey Dent, moreso as Two-Face ("Tell him everything's gonna be alright. Lie, like I lied")
-Caine is probably most likely obviously the best Alfred ever period
-Lots of callbacks, even just in BB. Repeated lines, stuff like that
- Remember what a shock it was when Liam Neeson turned out to be Al Ghul? I don't recall any other movies prior to BB in which he was a villian
- Really miss the stylized look of Gotham from BB, I actually LIKED the fact that it wasn't obviously NYC like every other blockbuster
- Holy fuck Oldman looks much older in TDKR, even compared to TDK
-I'm looking forward to showing my kids this trilogy years from now, and say "THIS was the best portrayal of Batman on screen" I don't think it'll age as badly as Burton's films
In batman begins it said that his great-great-grandfather secretly transported free slaves to the north. Not sure of he means that these caves have some underground passageway or not. But that could be how he got back in.
And if all other explanations fail see this one:
I think the explanation for Bruce getting back is simple: He's the goddamn Batman
[sp]Besides it's more like a metaphor, something symbolic. The batman has fallen into a pit, just like the one he did when he was young. He got out, the dark knight has risen, hence the title. Showing how he got back would ruin the symbolic meaning to it. It isn't important to the story how he got back, but that he is back.[/sp]
This series has been full of some of the greatest performances put to film. Really. If any of these actors put that much effort into any other movie they'd have stood out and one Oscars every time. That shows what happens when you give a good director a good story and good actors to sink into it. I've noticed an actor in Nolans movie is always doing something, nobody walks into a room and just talks, nothing is static. It's great.
But as mentioned earlier what Ledger did as Joker was mind blowing. Until you stop and think how the script would just have a line of a dialogue in text and then Ledger comes in and adds more than a movement to it, but a string of emotions. You can't write those mannerisms into a script. He did very well with it and it's a damn shame he died. He would've been great. But I guess if he hadn't put so much of himself into preparing for the role, he would still be here. It's a vicious circle.
I remember watching BB the other week and being surprised seeing Joffrey from Game of Thrones as the little kid in the Narrows.
I just saw the movie.
One thing that really gave me a chuckle was [sp]at the stock office when the guy was talking about if Wayne coming back would be good or bad for stocks and concludes that it's bad. Other guy asks, "How do you figure?" "I flipped a coin"[/sp]
The biggest gripe I had about it was [sp]how crappy the batcave was. The ending of Batman Begins leaves you with a big expectation. I wasn't expecting a three story high monitor like in the animated series but a helluva lot more than two monitors and a pc. It had such a build up for it when Alfred went down the the elevator and walked into the cave and.....there's a tiny desktop there with Bruce sitting at it. And that's it. I was very disappointed.[/sp]

He should have done it as the hobo guy

even back then he still played a little bitch
So much respect has been lost for Doug Walker here. He clearly didn't pay enough attention.

Doug Walker is an annoying cunt.
Just back from the screening. Credits to Nolan for not making the movie in 3D.
I liked it a lot but there are a bunch of things that really bothered me.
The pacing is quite terrible, for starters. Batman Begins had the same issue, but Nolan had solved it in The Dark Knight and I felt like Inception didn't have this problem either, yet here's a movie that has an old issue that seemed fixed. There is so much setup around Bane, his plan concerning Gotham, how he got there, etc, and yet when he actually executes his plan, there are literally [sp]5 to 6 months[/sp] flying by in something like 15 minutes of screentime.
I was really surprised that the famous [sp]backbreaking[/sp] scene was set in the middle of the movie, but I think they've done great with this. The only issue is, it doesn't really [sp]end the series as promised[/sp] and despite Nolan's insistence on the fact this is the last Batman movie he makes, [sp]everything feels like a sequel trap to me[/sp].
Bane's [sp]death[/sp] also happens so fast and so conveniently that it hurt to watch. Once again, there was a lot of buildup for the baddie, and even though he really delivered the first time, the second felt so rushed and poorly shot that it was really surprising. Hell, are we even sure [sp]he's dead[/sp] or [sp]was he just knocked inconscious[/sp] ? As for the mask, I'm glad what it did wasn't as obvious as what it could have been, but it took bane further away from what he originally was, especially with the whole backstory behind it. Making him a muscle mountain would have been idiotic, but the whole [sp]backstory that links him to Talia and such[/sp] just felt convoluted and unneeded. I would have really liked him more as [sp]a thug who was born in and got out of prison then took advantage of his past to become stronger, while possibly stumbling upon the Venom at some point[/sp] rather than what they did here.
But I have to admit giving an [sp]open ending with a possible Robin/nightwing and keeping Batman alive[/sp] was pretty cool. Overall the movie is still great and there aren't any massively big plot hole, especially considering it's still a superhero movie, despite all the grittiness thrown at it.
I get annoyed by his characters these days, it seems too fake. But I really enjoy him as a person. I agree with him that Wayne was less relatable and that The Dark Knight was nearly redundant. [sp]Even after the truth about Harvey was revealed there was no consequences. The story easily could've been "Batman cleaned the streets and retired" instead of "Dent cleaned the streets, Bats retired".[/sp]
That said it didn't bug me at all like it does Doug. It was fine. I just rolled with it. It was a great movie.

I agree I am very excited for a Batman reboot. I'd love something then blends the realism and the cartoon fun like Rocksteady did with the Arkham games. That much better fits the comic tone.
Also Marion Cotillard is horrible in this movie, what the hell
i'm glad i enjoyed this movie thoroughly without over-analyzing it like i do with most movies. everyone should see it. a real gem.
Also Marion Cotillard is horrible in this movie, what the hell
What movie were you watching

to be fair [sp]her death scene WAS pretty poorly acted[/sp]

There is so much wrong on this page.
Compared to what she did in other movies her acting was terribad there. She was also a very bad choice for [sp]Talia[/sp].
There is so much wrong on this page.
Oh come on in that scene she was like [sp]acting mode : off and then she closes her eyes and she's dead[/sp].
Just saw it. 7/10.
Many many "why" moments, a lot of unnecessary scenes and random character changes, no real dramatic peak moment and the dialogue was cheezy as hell.
Can't believe what they did to Alfred.
Will write more once off, the phone.
The 'Rises' part didn't tip you off to that?
It tipped me off to the 8 years.
Alfred's better in this movie than he has been in any of the Batman movies, dude. It's the first time I ever truly gave a shit about him, to be honest.
Was better in The Dark Knight in my opinion because at least [sp]he doesn't disappear for three quarters of the movie in it[/sp].
Also the new vehicle was pretty terrible .
The [sp] no autopilot thing was just so pretendable and I cringed when he shoots the bomb truck in the end 3 times without doing any damage FROM THE BACK and then cat girl shots ONCE from the front boom gone [/sp]
pretendable
The movie sucks so much you have to make up words to describe it.
No my English does.
What is the right word for something I can already see miles before it comes?
I too thought it was kinda bullshit how [sp]the mounted cannon on the Tumblers did absolutely fuck all to the rotor on the bottom of the Batwing.[/sp]
But hey, even the Dark Knight has that moment where they survive falling off of a skyscraper by landing safely on a hard, metal taxi cab, then just forget about the Joker as they transition to the next scene, so I can overlook a few things.
Just back, loved it. There are some good points in the thread, but I think in general it was a cinematic masterpiece. Also, if you didn't see it in IMAX you really missed out.

Yeah I went to see it on release but we couldn't get imax seats (all screenings were fully booked til monday) and I booked my ticket again for imax on sunday because thats the closest day with good seats
Should have booked further back but o well. im looking forward to seeing it in Imax and it being in 2D!! Do they even do imax 2D screenings if a film is in 3D? I only went to imax before for the Avengers and I don't think they did. It's pretty shit

Expectable.
Phoned in probably works too in that case.
[editline]26th July 2012[/editline]
And the whole [sp]no autopilot[/sp] thing was just there to justify the [sp]suspense after batman supposedly dies[/sp]. But it felt completely unneeded to me as [sp]he could have just locked the controls in some way and fly the whole thing away, without a need for a sophisticated program to simply fly a thing forward[/sp].
In fact the whole movie felt like it went downhill after [sp]the back breaking scene[/sp].
The review from Doug had a few good points, I think I'm still a little confused as to what Bane's plan was exactly.

I don't think it was well explained, but I thought it was basically [sp]Destroy Gotham and just do some stuff to pass the time. Like after the bomb thing was ready to blow up, he already had all the police trapped, so he was pretty much just sticking around until the last possible moment to make sure nothing went wrong, as far as I could tell. I can't really tell what his escape plan was though, but he was basically just working for Talia the whole time.[/sp]
