Got back from the midnight premiere, managed to get seats in the IMAX theater (had a security guard in there, while it's usually just cinema employees with NVGs) which was fucking amazing because of the incredible sound. I felt the movie was really well written and well acted (especially liked Joseph Gordon Lewitt). But then again it had some flaws: [sp]Bane's death was sudden that I had to think for a moment to remember it[/sp] And Catwoman's or Selina's character felt a bit unnecessary and I got a feeling she was only put in [sp]to get someone as a future companion for Wayne[/sp] Or I just generally dislike Anne Hathaway. And yes that ending with [sp]Robin[/sp] was really cool. That's what comes to my mind at 4 AM, and of course this is only my opinion.
Expectable.
Pretty sure the word he was looking for was 'predictable'. [editline]26th July 2012[/editline]
Catwoman's or Selina's character felt a bit unnecessary
Even though she's one of the main characters?
So much respect has been lost for Doug Walker here. He clearly didn't pay enough attention.
It's like he didn't even watch the movie. Most of the points and plot holes he brings up can easily be answered.
All the way through the video I had the exact same thoughts. He most likely just sat on his phone through three quarters of the film.
God this movie was cringe-inducing. Not badly acted, but literally, cringing from some of the violence. [sp]First, the backbreaking scene, then Bane punching Batman in the head repeatedly, then the failed escapes from The Pit.[/sp] Maybe I'm just a pussy, but that shit was terrible.
Oh and I forgot to mention [sp]WHEN THE DUDE PUNCHED HIS FUCKING VERTEBRAE BACK INTO PLACE[/sp] jesus
Oh and I forgot to mention [sp]WHEN THE DUDE PUNCHED HIS FUCKING VERTEBRAE BACK INTO PLACE[/sp] jesus
half the theater burst into laughter when that scene happened this town is sadistic
I had no problem with the violence in this movie.
I'm glad Venom wasn't thrown in, and as for the plot holes, they can be glossed over pretty easily. Overall, I thought it was a fantastic film.
I had no problem with the violence in this movie.
I was hoping for more violence
I would liked to have seen Bane curbstomp someone!
Ok I'm at a PC again. First off: It is a good movie. It is done really well, it has great acting. What irked me was the writing. My main critique points: 1. It takes too much time for everything 2. It is written for idiots. 3. Lot of "Why? Wtf why and how?" Let me explain the second first: All characters made REALLY SURE the viewers understood. There are several little lines and scenes in the movie that are REALLY unnecessary and cheezy. 2 that easily spring to mind would be [sp]when that investment guy, who paid Bane, is about to be killed by him has the last words something along "You truly are evil" or something like that. Me and a lot of people just facepalmed for how lazy and offensively obvious it was. And the one even DUMBER when Catwoman approaches him a while before and he is all like "Yea? Yout want the program? The supersecret program that erases everything and that everyone could use to get off to a new start? The secret program you really need?" Oh gee thanks writers, I didn't understand what she wanted when she was talking to Wayne a few minutes before! [/sp] So yeah, stuff like that where movie characters feel the need to expalin themselves or use common movie tropes really break the immersion of "watching something". [sp]Another one is when Talia goes into that truck for whatever reason just to die there and spends the time explaining why she did it after the truck crashes. You could argue she was doing it to gain time(why, she just told us the reactor is flooded....) bu then again you see Bats, Cats and Gordon neatly lined up near her door and listening to her which frankly, is a really stupid scene, the clock is at 2 minutes something.[/sp] [sp] Also what is all this "The people need to retake their city" stuff from Bane about[/sp] The first point: The really important part starts in the second third. The plane heist scene in the beginning is absolutely unnecessay. The only info it provided us with was [sp]Yea well there is this Doctor Pavel and people think he is dead[/sp] It doesn't even do any thing good for characterizing Bane because all we know after this 10 minute scene is "Yea, he kills people and has a mask" and who the fuck didn't see the [sp]WOW HE IS UNDER THE MASK CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?"[/sp] coming from miles away. It has no dramatic peak. The movie spends so much time in the plot and why and how and then it needs to introduce[sp]Robin[/sp] so can anyone tell me what the dramatic peak point is? When [sp]he is thrown into prison?[/sp] He spends like 10 scenes getting out and everyone knew he would need to do it to get the movie going and the film did spend countless scenes to explain that [sp]only one could do it and of course Baleman would do it[/sp] When [sp]The bomb is set?[/sp] Sure not climatic, we are not told[sp] That it can't be defused[/sp] until the very end. And there still is [sp]5 months of time and at least an hour of movie[/sp] when it happens. Jee I'm on the edge of my seat! They even change the damn [sp] timer from that circle thing with green and red we see first to a digital thousand-times-seen-in-movies-o-matic clock display[/sp] I could go on but the point is: They cramed so much stuff in it that neither can really shine. The Dark Knight rises either not at all [sp] Oh hey I don't want to be the Batman anymore he filled its purpose. Alfred: Yes please don't. Baleman: Ok guess I'll do it fuck you Alfred the people need me[/sp] or TWICE [sp]After the 8 years and out of prison[/sp] And my last and main point: The lazy and dumbass scenes noone needed or can explain and here is a list (in no particular order) - [sp]Motorbikes coming out of the stock trading market when we just saw that Banes guys were disguised to sneak in ok cool I guess crashing out with motorbikes was a plan and hiding 5 bikes in the stocktrading market was the plan all along but then again why disguise when you are just gonna beat the security dudes up?[/sp] - [sp]Talia knows the bomb can't be defused even after her signal was blocked since she can flood the reactor room (Oh hey I better leave you alive with Bane after he didn't manage to kill you the first time and just threw you into that prison) and for whatever reason GETS INTO THE BOMB TRUCK WHY? WHAT DID SHE HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH THERE?[/sp] -[sp] Gordon I need you to set this jammer BEFORE SUNRISE - Gordon sets the jammer in broad daylight and just after the big stupid fight scene, and yes I mean the DECOY, he was simply TOO LATE[/sp] - [sp] The big stupid fight scene. Two parts: Before Baleman encounters Bane every police guy somehow runs into the wall of baddies ARMED WITH MPS N SHIT while only swinging pistols and sticks like they are some damn Orcs from LotRs I mean why the hell run into them like that? Then for the first half of the running despite like 200 guns being present maybe 5 guys get shot and the rest just gets into a big brawl, what? Batman comes out, somehow all baddies are dead or in a GUNFIGHT WITH THE POLICE DUDES. [/sp] - [sp] "THE BAT" somehow can't destroy one of them tanks when shooting at it 3 times from behind, yet the batbike can with one shot but at the same time the tank shooting at THE BAT(oh please) 2 or 3 times from 5 m distance does nothing[/sp] - [sp]"Bats I need your rocket jammer to build a jammer" OH MAN I SURE HOPE BATMAN DOESN'T ENCOUNTER ROCKETS![/sp] - [sp] I can't get over Rachel oh hey come sleep with me ah the power is gone[/sp] - [sp] Here "Robin" take that grenade, count to 5 and throw it at the wall. It doesn nothing. Batman shoots the wall with his glider anyway. Why again did you give the police guy an armed handgrenade again?[/sp] And on and on and on. After all, it just felt a bit helpless. The writers knew the receipt that made the first movies great. And then they couldn't use the joker anymore. In fact, this movie didn't need the second one at all. Basically they [sp]tell us in the first 20 minutes and the last when Bane reads Gordons letter, that the whole "sacrifice yourself for the city" deal was all wrong and an evil thing to do because it bases doing something good on a lie and that is bound to come back at Gordon and Bats[/sp] So the writers have to spend a big part of the last movie in a trilogy to introduce 2 completely new characters, no make that three, 2 bad and 1 good into a movie that was supposed to bring an end to it. It's as if the third LotR mivie told us that Frodo was all wrong by trying to throw the Ring into the volcano because that is gonna solve nothing and there is a far greater evil behind Sauron. It is watchable, it is well done, although a few noticable cutting mistakes are in(2 I saw myself are [sp]in the stock trading market and when Batman encounters Catwoman on that roof where she fights Banes gunguys and Bats is all "now weapons". There in the middle of a punch at Bane you can see a cut in the very punch scene where it looks like they redid the scene and used a quick one to hide that[/sp]) It has some great action scenes(stadium) and awesome pictures to look at. But in the end it just couldn't meet the perfection I expected after seeing the 2nd one, it took a lazy (and thousand times seen in movies) ending to the trilogy and was all around just not "in the flow" [sp] they should have ended at the funeral, besides seeing his death coming from miles away "oh geez no autopilot I wonder what THAT'S going to lead to!"[/sp] There was really nothing new to it. Sorry.
>>characters explaining for the dumb viewers what is going on<<
This was also something I noticed in Prometheus. I almost laughed every time they made the characters explain what had just happened, it was just so obvious. [sp]david enters the room with the engineer in cryosleep, cuts off weyland's daughters' feed. "OH GEE YOU SUNOVA BITCH YOU CUT ME OFF"[/sp] There was one more that I can't remember.
[sp]Bom goes into stadium: We get high levels of radiation! Guy sitting in front of some screen to the general: IT'S A NUCLEAR DEVICE! [/sp]
i was p much cringing too on why [sp]they undid the ending and sacrifice of tdk just so bane can read it out loud in the end of tdkr, also even more pointless since its not even part of banes plan either - it was just a random paper he found off of gordon and thought "hey this shits good to use later"[/sp]
[sp]The prisoners of Blackgate were denied parole and simply locked up and forgotten about thanks to the Dent Act. Bane read that letter out to reveal to Gotham that their White Knight was a murderer and a monster. At the end of The Dark Knight, Gordon and Batman agree that people will lose hope if they find out what Dent did, and that everything he did for this city would be undone.[/sp]
[sp]The prisoners of Blackgate were denied parole and simply locked up and forgotten about thanks to the Dent Act. Also [sp] Gordon spends the last 3rd of the movie rambling about how the shackles and limits of law prevent police from doing anything really effective and Robin believes him, even in the very end. So what Baleman and Gordon did in the end of movie 2 kinda didn't get to him at all (although a while before he was giving Gordon the bad look when Bane reads out the paper). So in the end his stance towards Batmans and Gordons lie is "Oh my god how could you Gordon lieing is wrong! Welp whatev's better quit police and do it the hero way.[/sp] Which makes no sense at all. Again.
I just realized some of the editing in the movie look really amateurish or rushed. [sp]At some point when catwoman goes to prison she breaks an inmate's tied wrists by doing that weird rolling thing, you barely see her do it and there is only a weak sound effect while in every other fighting scene in the movie every punch is heavy and clearly seen.[/sp] At another point [sp]when that one cop leading the "army" dies you don't even see him get shot, there is a shot of him, then a tumbler, then he's on the ground dead.[/sp].
Ok I'm at a PC again. [sp]when that investment guy, who paid Bane, is about to be killed by him has the last words something along "You truly are evil" or something like that. If you think someone is a dick, and you finally find out how much they really are one, you surely let them know?[/sp]
[sp] Also what is all this "The people need to retake their city" stuff from Bane about[/sp]
[sp] It's to do with how the Dent act had wrongly thrown thousands of people in jail, based on a lie. It's basically a way of saying "The police have taken control of this city in an unfair manner"[/sp]
The really important part starts in the second third.
The plane scene is just a simple introduction to Bane and his plan. There's not meant to be any big reveals at the start of the movie, it's there to just show you that there's a new guy on the block and he's a bit of a dick.
- [sp]Motorbikes coming out of the stock trading market when we just saw that Banes guys were disguised to sneak in ok cool I guess crashing out with motorbikes was a plan and hiding 5 bikes in the stocktrading market was the plan all along but then again why disguise when you are just gonna beat the security dudes up?[/sp]
I'll agree that [sp]the bikes came from nowhere, but at the same time Bane was wearing a biker helmet, kind of indicates it's coming. But to question why they have people disguised is a bit silly. It's a bit of Recon, get some of your guys in their to assess the situation and get in behind the main security[/sp]
- [sp]Talia knows the bomb can't be defused even after her signal was blocked since she can flood the reactor room (Oh hey I better leave you alive with Bane after he didn't manage to kill you the first time and just threw you into that prison) and for whatever reason GETS INTO THE BOMB TRUCK WHY? WHAT DID SHE HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH THERE?[/sp]
[sp] She knows the Bat is back, and that everything is going to shit. Some of the people could hijack the truck. For her to jump into it herself, is to assure her mind that no-one is to take it.[/sp]
- [sp] "THE BAT" somehow can't destroy one of them tanks when shooting at it 3 times from behind, yet the batbike can with one shot but at the same time the tank shooting at THE BAT(oh please) 2 or 3 times from 5 m distance does nothing[/sp]
I could be wrong on this one but I'm pretty sure [sp] The Bat's projectiles mess up the electrics in the vehicles, as seen a few times. That, and it would kind of go against batmans ethics to start shooting rockets at people...[/sp]
- [sp]"Bats I need your rocket jammer to build a jammer" OH MAN I SURE HOPE BATMAN DOESN'T ENCOUNTER ROCKETS![/sp]
[sp]Well Lucious did need it to create the Jammer. Not much else they could do about that really.[/sp]
- [sp] I can't get over Rachel oh hey come sleep with me ah the power is gone[/sp]
Cause this doesn't happen in real life either. Honestly [sp] people go about and get laid, even if they are hurting from losing someone. It's how humans roll. I've personally done it myself.[/sp]
- [sp] Here "Robin" take that grenade, count to 5 and throw it at the wall. It doesn nothing. Batman shoots the wall with his glider anyway. Why again did you give the police guy an armed handgrenade again?[/sp]
It could be possible that [sp] The grenade was to loosen the wreckage. Or just to make for a little humour as he turns up in The Bat. Not exactly a misplaced scene[/sp]
But in the end it just couldn't meet the perfection I expected after seeing the 2nd one, it took a lazy (and thousand times seen in movies) ending to the trilogy and was all around just not "in the flow" Sorry.
The ending really comes down to personal choice, and I personally thought it fit quite well. [sp] It shows Bruce being able to get away from the oppression that his Batman persona had started to become. It also gave the perspective of "Batman is Batman, not who is under the mask" thing well, what with Robin basically taking over. All in all though, it does come down to personal preference for the ending, and I understand the want to have it cut short, but then that would become a sort of niché people would begin to expect from Nolan[/sp] All in all, I enjoyed the movie. [sp]Bane's demise was a bit too convienent, and I was expecting him to come back for one last round[/sp] but apart from that, I feel it was a better movie than TDK. Everyone's acting was top notch. Caine's performance [sp]nearly had me in tears at two points. He played his role pretty perfect[/sp] And I felt that no-one let a single part of the film down. A great way to end a great trilogy. Didn't expect anything less from Nolan.
The way everyone agrees that there is next to [sp]no crime and everyone is happy about it [/sp] in the beginning kinda destroys that or should at least stop people from flipping shit.
Yeah I went to see it on release but we couldn't get imax seats (all screenings were fully booked til monday) and I booked my ticket again for imax on sunday because thats the closest day with good seats Should have booked further back but o well. im looking forward to seeing it in Imax and it being in 2D!! [sp]Could had been nice to see the city rebuilding itself as a ending. Showing the bridges being rebuilded etc.[/sp]
