Also [sp]Catwoman possible being lesbian isn't anything to complain about in terms of using it in Nolan's film because it's hinted a lot in the comics. Her and Poison Ivy man, defo some tension there[/sp]
You mean [sp]Poison Ivy and pretty much every other female character in the Batman comics[/sp] Also, I agree with what was said earlier about the editing. The bit where [sp]Catwoman takes the guy hostage and escapes by jumping out of a window onto a window-cleaning platform thing was really poorly done. She jumps out, lands, then it cuts and she's standing up, she calmly presses a button and then there's about five or six seconds where nothing is shown except her standing there waiting as the platform is lowered slowly. Which is followed immediately by her running with her hostage and getting surrounded. So out of place with what else is going on, and could've easily been fixed by anyone with half a brain.[/sp]
Well I can see why they went with this with Wayne and all but [sp]it just seems so happy-ending-ish considering how gritty, gruesome and cruel the series had been up to this point. Bruce did not want to leave batman behind and he could not find a way to be a hero without wearing the mask, then he manages to actually get over it and live on, but he does it without any sort of repercussion. I would have expected him to get his back broken at the very end of the movie, as it would have forced him out of Batman and would have been the one step he needed to actually live a real life, rather than simply be on stand-by whenever he was not being Batman. Plus, there isn't much for Wayne to live as now that he's broke and officially dead. I don't even recall them explaining how Wayne disappeared for about 6 months then was found dead somehow, which was strangely in sync with Batman's disappearance, reappearance and death.[/sp] As for [sp]Catwoman being a lesbian what I meant is that she's apparently with that other chick but then that woman disappears and we never heard of her again and Catwoman gets with Wayne. What the hell ? Where did she go ? They seemed pretty close to each other, I wanted to see what happened to her.[/sp]
oh right I see what you mean [sp]I think it was Holly Robinson from Batman Year One, my guess at least. Then again that's a kind of Origin story (very similar to the origins given in Begins) and this is way after)[/sp]
something i noticed during my second watch: [sp]the 'deshei deshei basara basara' chant gets blended into the soundtrack whenever bane is near and then crescendos when he finally appears on screen. very nice effect. perfect example of this is just before "my mother told me not to get into cars with strange men." "this isn't a car." (also i'd like to note that bruce is acknowledging that he is a strange man)[/sp]
You didn't catch that? Shit, I caught that the first time.
You didn't catch that? Shit, I caught that the first time.
i guess i noticed it the first time, but the second time i watch a movie i always pay particular attention to the music, and it's really pronounced when you're looking for it.
So, just came back... and... Bane sounds too much like Sean Connery. "Batman, ol' chap. Now you have my permission to die. Tally-ho!"
Nah, sounds more like Ian McKellan trying to do a hybrid impression of Sean Connery and Patrick Stewart, all while wearing a Darth Vader mask.
Just saw it too, anyone else feel they [sp]threw away the whole army-men-undercover-here plot? They send in three guys after how many months, wouldn't they sneak in far more?[/sp]
This reference just occurred to me The prison is a pit, from which the broken Bruce Wayne rose again, mended and healed. [sp]Lazarus pit[/sp]
Another gripe I have with the movie is [sp]when Bruce climbs up to the initial ledge inside the pit, there is plenty of room to get a running start to make the jump. But each person shown leaping is simply jumping straight off the edge with absolutely no momentum. Just seemed strange to me, the pit as a whole seemed...weak in a way. It really did not appear to be all that difficult to escape and I'm sure with all the materials the prisoners had they surely would have found a way to climb out more efficiently. [/sp] Am I the only one who feels this way? I mean it's a brilliant idea I just don't think it was implemented as well as it could have been. [/sp]
Yeah I thought some cheeky guy would tie a lasso or something and just Tarzan away. Maybe the other point is that few prisoners seemed to be in the physical position to even get to the leaping point, no idea about the running start though [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Also catwoman bending over on the motorcycle in latex: nice
He's the Goddamn Batman, that's how.
Nolan cheated with the editing.
Also, I just got back from my second viewing of the film, and [sp]the moment when Bruce is on that hanging edge in The Pit, and he looks up, and the bats fly out, and the camera shows the prisoners chanting, and then he finally rises out of the pit and stands tall above it will always haunt me as one of the greatest moments in cinema. moved me almost as much as when Andy crawls out of the sewer and stands in the rain in Shawshank.[/sp] [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] [sp]In that respect, I'm glad I'm not a comic book junkie, because today I did some reading on the source material, and, yea, the true identity of Ra's al Ghul's child would have been obvious.[/sp]
I'm sorry but in Shawshank it was kinda what the whole movie was working up to, in this they spent like 20 minutes with [sp]lol Bruce hey ok throw you down you have to overcome yourself, and even then the dialogue didn't make any sense, the only thing coming out of it was "do it without a rope"[/sp] I was in the cinema with 10 other people and we all agreed that the scene seemed kinda out of place and either tucked on or not explored enough and HARDLY worth of a connection with [sp] The dark knight rising[/sp] [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Because the RISE , as also seen in the "Batman Returns" comic, is when [sp]he comes back after his 8 years hiatus[/sp] By the way what was the scene with the [sp] Doctor all about? It had literally NO consequences for the rest of the movie[/sp]
One thing bothered me. Just one. [sp] Less than 10 seconds before the bomb goes off, we see that Batman is still in the batcopter/batplane/batwhatever. It wasn't just a tiny explosion either, that thing would fuck up everything within 3 miles of it when it explodes. 10 seconds isn't enough to get away from it, even if he did jump out and let the autopilot go.[/sp]
[sp]He got out of the Bat during that scene where it's low on the ground with the doomsday device scraping against the floor.[/sp]
[sp]He got out of the Bat during that scene where it's low on the ground with the doomsday device scraping against the floor.[/sp]
[sp]I thought that too, but I watched the scene again and he's still in the Bat at least until the point where he flies over the bridge.[/sp]
I think the review here hit's the spot : http://edition.cnn.com/2012/07/19/showbiz/movies/dark-knight-rises-review-charity/index.html Clunky. When the first one brought fresh air to the Batman with a more real approach and the second one shines by the Joker as a very bonkers but nevertheless quite real enemy, this movie just provides nothing new. Poor kid from a "hellhole",the [sp]rich guy funding the evil guy not expecting to get betrayed by the forces he summoned [/sp](yawn), a [sp]bomb that threatens the city, with a goddamn digital countdown timer jesus fucking christ[/sp], Bane using the 99% slogans to gain [sp]control over the city, "claim back your city from the elite bastards that took it from you ,citizens"[/sp](which is quite a good social comment in my eyes) and even the end, clunky. [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Also I like this critique(why is it listed as "fresh" on tomatoes?) http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2012/07/the-dark-knight-rises-and-falls/260091/ [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] [sp]"You're not the Batman anymore," he implores. "You have to find another way."[/sp] There was an opportunity here for Nolan to show us that other way, to (again) stretch the boundaries of what is possible in a superhero film. Instead, alas, the latter half of The Dark Knight Rises retreats toward conventionality and, while perfectly fine on its own merits, can't help but disappoint. As was the case with the previous two movies, Nolan bites off a great deal but proceeds to chew somewhat less. YES. It's a good movie but not in comparison with the first two. There are more particular missteps as well. An oddly off-key, Occupy-Wall-Street-inspired political undercurrent suggests that a substantial population of ordinary Gothamites would be so dissatisfied with their civic institutions that they would join Bane—who has by this time done some decidedly terrible things—in a violent insurrection against the city's wealthy elites. (Yes, this is an anti-Bain Bane.) YES. That was incredibly tacky. [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Why do all the "fresh" reviews sound like they want to say "rotten"? It’s this last element that relegates Michael Caine’s role to nothing more than a series of scenes in which he cries at Christian Bale for several minutes.
[sp]I thought that too, but I watched the scene again and he's still in the Bat at least until the point where he flies over the bridge.[/sp]
Don't be fooled by that shot.
Don't be fooled by that shot.
[sp]I'm not talking about the shot where it's just looking directly at him 3 seconds before it blows up, I'm talking about the one where you can actually see out the window of the cockpit and he's flying over the bridge.[/sp]
Whew, I just get back from seeing it. Absolutely amazing movie. And when [sp]Fox finds out about fixed autopilot, I really thought it was only to confirm Batman's death. That although autopilot was fixed, he chose ending all of it, and sacrifices himself even if he didn't have to. But still, I really love the ending.[/sp] But there's one thing that bothers me, I really wasn't paying attention to this: [sp]How exactly John Blake knew that Bruce Wayne is Batman? He wasn't really Joffrey Baratheon kid character from Batman Begins, right?[/sp]
He explains it in the movie.
[sp]I'm not talking about the shot where it's just looking directly at him 3 seconds before it blows up, I'm talking about the one where you can actually see out the window of the cockpit and he's flying over the bridge.[/sp]
I don't remember that, I'll keep an eye out for it when I see it again.
I just put down any annoying plot holes or silly over the top action down to the fact the guy that writes Call of Duty games wrote a bit of this. It didn't bug me enough to ruin the film. [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Hahah love the above guy "She lives with a girl and hugs her. MUST BE A LESBIAN"
He explains it in the movie.
Yes I know, but how he actually finds out? What, he just see random Bruce Wayne and jumps into conclusion: "BATMAN!" ? I thought there was more of that.
I love when [sp]The older cop tells Robin-whatever his-name-is that he's in for a treat as the lights go off, great reference to the Dark Knight Returns.[/sp] All in all, great film except for some minor details.
Anyone else think it would have been a bit more interesting to leave [sp]The Bat until the end of the movie. His very first return as batman he flies that thing around everywhere. It kind of looses its wow factor after a while. Especially if it limits Batman's ground work like beating up guys and driving the Batpod. It was pretty overpowered as well, which meant there wasn't much of a struggle. He was always in control.[/sp] Just another silly nitpick....
This is probably not needed, but did anyone else think that Bruce Wayne would of had a rather large life-insurance plan, and after his "death" that money would of gone to help rebuilding Bruce's life in hiding?
I was surprised by [sp]the lack of quality in the scene where the bridge exploded. Not by the explosion itself, but of Blakes movement from the blast. It just looked silly. [/sp]
did anyone that go to see this see the hobbit trailer and was it in 48 FPS? when i saw it for the premiere they just counted down then immediately started the movie (which was cool but i still want to see how different this 48 FPS is)
