The movie was a bit confusing about it but here's what happened in a nutshell.
[sp]Bane was a prisoner born in the prison, who then met Talia who was also born in the prison and protected her after her mother got killed. Then after a riot that happened for unknown reasons (probably the prisoners finding out about Talia being a female), Bane decided to help Talia escape, but got mauled by the entire prison for it. After Talia Escaped, she came back with the Shadow League and gave him the mask which gives him a constant dose of painkillers.
It's unclear what sort of injury put him in such a state of pain they had to use a permanent mask. He probably got his jaw destroyed, several nerves damaged, nose destroyed, etc. We see him several times bare torso so he probably only got badly injured at the head.[/sp]
[sp] he also fucked up his back I believe, in the same way Bruce did? Doesn't the guy helping Bruce say the doctor didn't set his bones in his back right or something?[/sp]
Major plothole and impossibility in the movie
[sp] Plothole 1: How the hell did Bruce Wayne manage to get back to Gotham City from India in just one day without any money, transportation and direction out of there?
Plothole 2: How did Bruce Wayne manage to sneak into Gotham without having half the USA knowing his return,
Plothole 3: At the end of the Movie, was Alfred hallucinating or was Bruce really was alive and was in the cafe with Selina in Italy?
Plothole 4: Was Bane planning to comiit suicide along with the rest of Gotham if he intended to have the reactor explode at the end of the month?
Impossibility 1: How could it be possible for almost the entire Police force be trapped underground with no way out? Certainly there is some one hole or tunnel that is not bombed to hell. In fact, couldn't the policemen dig their way out by picking out the the rubbles out one by one?
Impossibility 2: If the fushion reactor core exploded in the middle of the sea, won't it irradiated the ocean of Gotham and harming the environment there?
[/sp]
i don't understand how people who think about movies this way can ever enjoy them
[sp]Am I the only one bothered by how Bane's death was drastically under-exaggerated?[/sp] Other than that this is hands down, my favorite movie of all time.

You may want to spoiler tag that.
[sp]The way he was blasted back was almost comical, I am very disappointed with how he was discarded in the story.[/sp]

What is bane saying from 1:38 - 1:50?
[sp]Bane's death[/sp] and everything around it was really anticlimactic. I mean seriously, [sp]they build him up as the big honcho behind it all, they actually make him look like it, just to throw the whole character at the bin and introduce a brand new character via plot twist, adding insult to injury by making Bane's death incredibly short, and almost comical in the way it's shot. Just add a BOING effect when he gets shot and there you go.[/sp]

[sp]Theatricality and deception! Powerful agents to the uninitiated. But we are initiated, aren't we Bruce?
Remnants/members(?) of the League of Shadows... and you betrayed us.[/sp]
boba featt'ed
Well at least Bane [sp]still got to break Batman's back and did some amazingly evil shit before getting thrown away by Talia[/sp], while Boba was just like "oh hey there I got you into a trap, gotta die stupidly now"
No clicky if you haven't seen it
[sp] so how do we all think he survived at the end? If he even did survive? I don't think the swapping to auto-pilot is really that possible since we saw him in the ship right before it blew up, perhaps he dropped the bomb or something? [/sp]
God as my witness, I WILL own one of these:

the New 52 has been pretty disappointing IMO. i've been following detective comics and it's kind of crappy. they're even trying to cram the court of owls into All-Star Western which is silly.

[sp]Someone made a good theory that the batwing's cockpit is actually an ejection pod, so when we see Batman in the cockpit, he already ejected himself and the batwing carrying the bomb was going onward using autopilot[/sp]

The main problem is that DC doesn't know what's still canon and what isn't it. There are still good books though: Batman, Wonder Woman and Dial H are all doing fine. I've heard that Animal Man and Swamp Thing are great and, despite all the controversy over Starfire in the first issue, Red Hood & the Outlaws has a good rep.
Bane is so cool

Well I HAVE been enjoying All-Star Western on the whole. It's a lot more "fantastic" than the previous Jonah Hex series, but it's still done pretty well.
I'm also liking Batman Beyond Unlimited a lot. I wasn't expecting to, but each issue has been better than the last.

Well, doesn't All-Star Western take place in Gotham, but in Old-Westy times?
If so, that'd make sense, since the Court is meant to be a shadowey cabal of Gotham's founders and upper crust who secretly run everything.
But thank God for /co/.
They pointed me towards Batman instead of Detective Comics (Harvey Dent = Two-Face, Joker = No-Face) or any of the other Bat-Books.
If you want a Batman series, plain ol' Batman is your best bet, it's really good.

I really kinda wish I'd picked up Animal Man. I remember everyone on /co/ raving about how amazing it is.
But I got Batman, and that's been really good so far.

BBU is one of few books that totally justifies the cover price, which is especially impressive considering it's $4. There's just so much going on, and that [sp]Kryptonite atmosphere[/sp] was brilliant.
[sp]
2) In Batman Begins, Bruce was trained by the League of Shadows who, themselves, managed to infiltrate Gotham to prepare for their strike on the city. Also in that film, Alfred mentions that Bruce's great-great-grandfather used the underground passages beneath Wayne Manor to secretly transport free slaves to safety. It is possible that Bruce used these passages to return to Gotham.[/sp]
Underground Railroad =/= literal underground passages.

I only stayed with Detective Comics through the first arc because I thought Joker would come in at some point. Now I'm glad I went with Batman instead, even more so now that Joker's actual return is coming up there.
I wish I'd picked up Animal Man too. I got the first couple issues of Swamp Thing, but forgot about it after that and now I'm regretting it. I'll definitely be getting the trades when they're out.
So I just saw Dark Knight Rises and I loved it! I was just a bit ticked of after the film since most of the good stuff got spoiled for me. Although I didn't like somethings just as [sp] how Bane died and looking back on it the nuke was kind of boarding on cheesy[/sp]
So to get rid of my bad mood I decide to do this:

Let the games begin.
I only stayed with Detective Comics through the first arc because I thought Joker would come in at some point. Now I'm glad I went with Batman instead, even more so now that Joker's actual return is coming up there.

Now I remember, the one thing I was THIS CLOSE to getting was Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
I heard literally NOTHING but praise for it, people were saying that the absolute best book of the New 52 (Wave 1) was either Animal Man, Batwoman, or Frankenstein.
But I got a subscription to Superman instead, which has been okay, but if they don't pull something AMAZING (on the scale of introducing Luthor or Braniac or something), I think I'll pick up the trade and continue from there with Frankenstein.
I've never been a massive fan of Superman, I've always felt he was a little bit two dimensional. Then again I've never read any of Superman's comics yet. Probably will at some point since I'm sure there's reason behind him being the most popular superhero ever :v:
I also saw tdkr for the second time today
It was way better second time round I think. Plus I watched Begins in between viewings which added a lot to Bane [sp]and talia, and their motives. Plus the twist felt a lot more natural this time round. Not sure if it was due to seeing it twice and understanding the film overall a bit more or because I've seen Begins[/sp]
I do know I changed my opinion on [sp]Talia stealing Bane's thunder. This time round I didn't so much get the impression that bane was merely a puppet for Talia, but a partner. Didn't feel anything was taken away from him this time.[/sp]
Was I the only one that thought that the [sp]prisoners who failed the climb died? It looked like quite a drop, surely the rope about their waist would break their spine? Seeing Bruce fall twice was a bit bleh, the first time I thought he'd die. I was tensed up like no tomorrow, but he was just a bit winded.[/sp]

Thats what I thought too

Wait what, Joker is making his return in Batman? That's kind of a pain in the ass. I went with Detective Comics in the first place because Joker and stuff and after they removed his face he completely disappeared.
I guess I'll grab the last few Batman issues on my next comic run. I'm not bothering with Detective Comics unless something interesting happens. (An event which seems highly unlikely considering he's spent the last few issues tracking down fucking red Skeletor or something.)

Well I guess it makes sense, but part of the reason Jonah Hex was so fantastic was that story arcs never lasted much more than two or three issues, and were poignant and well-written. (Excepting the Six Gun War which was just silly.) When you start introducing all these persistent storylines, each issue begins to feel more like a nebulous part of a whole, rather than a self-contained story.
I should probably just accept nothing is ever going to live up to the previous Jonah Hex.
The soundtrack is so well made, I love Hanz Zimmer
The transition between songs is seamless, it all sounds like one, huge, epic track

Even though the soundtrack was good, the only song I remember clearly is the Bane chant one.
Heard something on Cape Crisis (that they heard on Twitter) that summed it up nicely:
Batman Begins = A New Hope
Dark Knight = Empire Strikes Back
Dark Knight Rises = Return of the Jedi
NOTE: Not in that they're similar story-wise, but as far as quality goes.
Begins was a really good introduction, started things off nicely.
Dark Knight expanded that universe and was the high point of the trilogy.
Rises wasn't quite as good as the one before it, but was an overall good ending to the series.
