It's pages ago, I can't be bothered, but there has been argument over this before.
Are u guys kidding me even that one scene was better than any of Anne Hathaways
And Hayden Christensen was great in Attack of the Clones.
[sp]Talia was very poorly implemented - we didn't get to see her to Talia-stuff like kicking arse. All she did was give orders and sit in the passenger sides of cars.[/sp]
Nolan removed [sp]everything interesting about Talia when it turned out she didn't actually love Wayne[/sp]
Do you have a soliloquy worthy of The Bard himself prepared when [sp]you're dying of death?[/sp]?
Also, I can't decide which between The Dark Knight trilogy or the Batman Arkham series games is the best thing ever.
THE DARK KNIGHT SERIES IS THE BEST BATMAN-RELATED THING EVER. VIDEO GAMES, COMICS, AND THE BURTON FILMS ARE FOR BABBYS.
[sp]/sarcasm[/sp]
Honestly, the Arkham Series is probably the best, considering that it's the all-around wonderfulness of the 90's series combined with the tone of the comics.
The Nolanverse is a neat side-series. It's kinda like how Marvel has a Noire Universe and a Manga Universe. The Nolan series is like the DC (or rather just Batman) "Realistic" Universe.
It's really good, but I don't consider it the DEFINITIVE Batman series.
It was cool, but I'm glad Nolan gave it a definitive end, so we can get a new series that sticks closer to the comics (I'm still waiting for my favorite villain to be done justice after Arnie's chilling preformance).

[sp]Talia was the one part of the film where you could have completely removed her and the movie would have gone along fine. You could literally cut the Talia-related scenes and keep her as the Waynetech executive and the movie would be no different. It was a cheap way to tie the beginning of the series into the finale, which they didn't need to do in the first place, since that role was filled perfectly by that "why do we fall?" scene. IMO, the Talia plotpoint was the worst thing about this movie. If it was all cut out, the movie would be exactly the same, only like 10 minutes shorter.[/sp]

OH NO.
NONONONONO.
I wasn't implying like "heh, look at this stupid faggot, LIKING X OVER Y."
I was just commenting on the attitude you see so often, like "lol whos mark hamul, heat is smexy n dark as jokr. the comics? ew no thos r for nerds n kids X3".
Nothing personal mate, we all have different opinions, and while the Nolan Series isn't my FAVORITE Batman series, the Dark Knight is one of my favorite Batman-related anythings PERIOD.
It was a hell of a ride and I'm excited to see what direction they take the inevitable reboot (hopefully something closer to the comics, both in content and tone).
[sp]whats more funny is how nolan tried to add the traitor-with-detonator subplot as an attempt to make talia fit in the story, and hilariously the detonator was pointless and even made bane seem like a retard because apparently - it was worth it taking control of the city for 5 months before actually blowing the whole place up just to spite batman. the detonator really shouldnt have been made at all, which would have made more sense for bane to control the city as if he was stalling citizens from making escape attempts[/sp]
[sp]It would have been even better if he pulled an Adrian.[/sp]
[sp]"WURRS DA TRIGGUH?"[/sp]
[sp]"There is no trigger."[/sp]
It would have led to a different climax, but who knows, it mighta been cool.
[sp]It certainly would have made Bane more than the muscle behind Talia's plan, that's for sure.[/sp]

I've never had the pleasure (or displeasure, depending) of reading a single comic, let alone a Batman comic. So my only Batman media is the films and games. Not watched the 60s TV series for that matter and only seen a few of the Batman TAS. If only there was a place to watch them online...
I'm not shitting on the thread! You guys were shitting over Marion Cotillard's performance, which I happened to point out I thought was better than Hathaways
Yeah i don't really get the hate for her either. Why do people pin the bad execution of Talia al Ghul on the actor when IF it was bad, it'd be the script writer and directer's neck. I though she was used well enough, but then again, much like other adaptations of novels, characters and shit, being in the know gives it this much more. In this case, it gave me the feeling that she was appropriately used.
Even though Holy random romance, Batman!
Hmm this just might end up making a billion dollars and beating The Dark Knight after all. We'll find out in a few weeks.
holy shit it happened. It may not being doing as well in the USA as The Dark Knight, but it's kicking enough ass overseas that it just now surpassed The Dark Knight and broke $1 billion. Now the 12th highest grossing film of all time. $22 million more and it'll be in the top 10.
The Dark Knight Rises currently
Domestic: $431,196,000 42.9%
Foreign: $574,000,000 57.1%
The Dark Knight
Domestic: $533,345,358 53.2%
Foreign: $469,700,000 46.8%
I just realised, is the climax of The Dark Knight Rises the only time we see [sp]Batman in clear daylight?[/sp]
Spoilered just in case.

I remember when the set photos of Batman fighting Bane in the daytime were released.
Everyone speculated that Bane would [sp]show up in Gotham and just call Batman out in the daytime. He'd put himself in control and diminish Batman's authority infront of everyone. Psychologically break him before physically breaking him.[/sp]
[sp]Of course that didn't really happen.[/sp]

I remember when there was "leaked intel" that told us John Blake was actually Alberto Falcone.
[editline]2nd September 2012[/editline]
And Matthew Modine was apparently playing a corrupt politician called Nixon.

When you adjust the figures for the minor inflation it's probably more. From this we can conclude the shootings probably did impact sales as domestic is down by a cool amount while foreign increased without threat.

And Eddie Murphy was gonna be playing the Riddler.
And Eddie Murphy was gonna be playing the Riddler.
I remember when the rumor was that it would be Johnn Depp, which honestly isn't a bad choice.
I still wish we could have seen a Nolan-ized Riddler somehow.
He wouldn't just have to be the Joker plus riddles.
He's fucking SMART.
Not that the Joker isn't, but it's two different kind of smarts.
The Joker provides a psychological challenge to Batman, while the Riddler provides an intellectual challenge.
I think it could have been done, but it probably would have just ended up as "Green Heath Ledger".
So it's probably for the best we got Bane Connery.
Someone said he sounded like Ian McKellen doing a Patrick Stewart impression.
Someone said he sounded like Ian McKellen doing a Patrick Stewart impression.

Nah, sounds more like Ian McKellan trying to do a hybrid impression of Sean Connery and Patrick Stewart, all while wearing a Darth Vader mask.
While it is still up more by a large amount, it's worth noting that The Dark Knight was banned in China because of the Lau plotline. Dark Knight Rises however isn't, and is making lots of cash over there. It's made about $30 million from china so far, where it only just opened. I doubt it'll still fully account for that large gap, though.

I bet the Chinese audiences are confused as fuck during TDKR.
I bet the Chinese audiences are confused as fuck during TDKR.
Nah, i remembered jackshit about TDK when i went to see TDKR, the plot isnt really all that connected to the previous movies, in the parts it is, it gets explained somehow.
I'd say its still a better idea to watch TDK first
whats better, knowing the events referenced from watching the prior film or havng them just told to you
Did anyone else fail to understand that Bane was killed by the Batbike cannon thing? I was in my seat thinking, "Where the heck did he go?" at the end...
was he killed? i kinda thought since he survived worse things before i assumed he wasn't blown up
i was gonna say i hated bane's voice the whole time, and some of the timeline just doesnt make sense, like how it took bruce like 10 years to bum rides around asia, and it only took him like a week to bum a ride from india-pakastan area (the type of "prison" he was staying in is an indian well thingy i've seen on Nat-Geo b4) to gotham (which is safe to say on the east coast, somewhere south of New York)
also
the joker was able to amass like 1 ton of explosives, rpgs, amuniton, and other high powered weapons, in gothem, while the resistance could not even find a brick of plastic explosives in all of gotham?
and those batmobiles were all prototypes, and not as armored as the batmobile, so why didnt the police use the same tactics that the joker employed against it, (catch them in close quarters, boobytraps, explosives to the tires) just seems like the police weren't hell bent on actualy taking down the truck

1. I was under the impression that Bruce was being a drifter for 7 years and as such just wandered around the whole of Asia, after he escaped from Bane's prison, he had only one destination in mind, Gotham
2. Bane held the threat of the detonating the bomb over the people of Gotham if they did anything

I think its safe to say that they got their hands on a bootleg copy of TDK. We're talking about China after all.
[editline]3rd September 2012[/editline]
At the end of TDKR, [sp]why is Gordon still working as the police commissioner?
Didn't he resign?
Shouldn't he be brought up on charges of perjury/making false statements/obstruction of justice for lying about Dent's crimes and death?[/sp]

[sp]IIRC it was handwaved as Bane trying to destabilize everyone and he made it up[/sp]

See, I forgot that the Nolan Bane wasn't the Bane from the comics, so I was completely expecting him to get right back up after taking that missle to the face.
But then later on I realised, "oh yeah, he's probably dead.... welp.... that was a Boba Fett if ever there was...."
"oh yeah, he's probably dead.... welp.... that was a Boba Fett if ever there was...."
There was, Boba Fett.
There was, Boba Fett.
Boba Fett got better though. Had lots of adventures in the Expanded Universe then went to live on a farm where we can't see him again but is very happy.
