It's kind of hard to get a good villain for Nolan's style.
Nolan can always just change them up a bit to match his style.
I mean it's not like the Joker was anything like the comic joker or Tim Burton's joker

*Ahem* that's Jack Nicholson's joker to you thanks.

You'd be less up to date on the latest Dark Knight knowledge that's for sure.
'The Dark Knight Rises' Heads To Asia
We still don't know who the villain is for "The Dark Knight Rises," nor do we know the film's plot line. But one thing is for sure: Christopher Nolan's third trip to Gotham City is coming, and it's coming soon.
But as Nolan gears up for his latest round of crime-fighting with the Caped Crusader, he won't be sticking exclusively to Gotham. As was the case in both "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," it appears that the next Batman movie will spend some time overseas in Asia.
Hero Complex alerts us to the news that Nolan is currently in Asia scouting shooting locations for "The Dark Knight Rises." Exactly where in Asia remains to be seen, but is it possible that Bats is headed back to Hong Kong?
As you'll recall, a solid chunk of "The Dark Knight" took place in Hong Kong as Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) traveled to the Asian country in an effort to track down and apprehend Lau (Ng Chin Han), an accountant that handles the cash flow for the various mobs in Gotham City. Batman's attempt is successful thanks to some cell phone trickery, overpowering hand-to-hand combat skills and a conveniently located aircraft. Lau is presumed dead by the end of "The Dark Knight," burned to death on top of a money pile set ablaze by the maniacal Joker (Heath Ledger), but perhaps there are other Lau-connected reasons for Bruce to travel back to Asia.
Another possibility is that our hero is returning to the area where he was first trained by Ra's Al Ghul (Liam Neeson) in "Batman Begins," adding some credibility to rumors of Talia Al Ghul's involvement in "The Dark Knight Rises."
Assuming you're serious, this thread is for the sequel...

This would make sense, but what about the most probable reason of "it has nothing to do with the last two movies"?

I always wondered why we didn't hear the agonizing screams of Lau as he burned to death. And it annoys me that they went for a T-rating and left out the blood. The blood wasn't necessary, but it would have been a nice touch.

Yeah, why do they show Two-Face's disgusting and burned face but not a bit of blood?
* The Dark Knight Rises will be filmed in IMAX. How much? “Many more minutes” than The Dark Knight’s 28 minutes.
* Christopher Nolan may use a 65mm camera for dialogue scenes in The Dark Knight Rises.
* The Dark Knight may be re-released in IMAX as part of a double-feature when The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters.
* Keighley has had about 5 meetings with Nolan, they’re working together to make improvements for The Dark Knight Rises.
This will be a visual masterpiece.
I liked this bit:
"no one cuts original negative anymore but Chris Nolan."
postal, any news about the movie rating Nolan is aiming for? I mean, is it going to be PG-13 just like "B:TDK"?
Because this is what I _Really_ want from this movie:

The movie shouldn't have gore. Batman isn't a killer, he said so right before he burned down the monastery with everyone inside it

Hahahaha :v:
Oh no, don't get me wrong, I know Batman doesn't kill people and all that, but a little more violence and colorful language in the franchise wouldn't hurt, IMHO.
For instance, if B:TDK had been rated R, the Joker would have been even MORE violent and sadistic
I'm not going to kill you
I'm just not gonna save you

So that whole rumor of Nolan looking for two actresses, one to be a love interest of Wayne, and another, which I'm rather glad is fake, a love interest for Gordon (even though he's married and has a kid. Apparently he had an affair at one point in the comic or something) turned out to be half right. Nolan is searching for two female leads and one is a new love interest for Batman. The other one besides Wayne's love interest is going to be for none other than the villain, which makes me wonder now what exactly Tom Hardy's role in this film is going to be, although I suppose they could do two villains again. Anyways, here's the list of candidates for the two roles:
Rachel Weisz
Naomi Watts
Blake Lively
Natalie Portman
Anne Hathaway
Keira Knightley
Portman's now pregnant. One off the list.
if B:TDK had been rated R, the Joker would have been even MORE violent
nolan doesn't like over-the-top violence and blood in movies. I doubt he would've done that much more.
Portman's now pregnant. One off the list.
Whoa whoa whoa-- Natalie Portman is pregnant? STOP THE PRESSES!

Oh man... not only she's pregnant, she's getting married too :saddowns:
Another little "battle of the rumors" going on right now.
Collider says it's 'Inside Source' is telling them Eva Green from Casino Royale has been cast as Talia Al Ghul, and Naomi Watts has been cast as photojournalist Vicki Vale.
The Hollywood Reporter, on the other hand, claims that it's own 'inside source' tells them the roles have not been cast, and that Nolan is going off a somewhat new actress shortlist, consisting of Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel, as well as lesser known actresses Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley and Gemma Arterton. This site also claims that Talia Al Ghul is one of the two female characters Nolan's been trying to cast, and that these roles will be tested for in two weeks.
Only problem with the Eva Green claim is that she is starring in a film which begins production in April, so she'd have to drop that to join this, and also apparently Gemma just signed on to some Hansel and Gretal film.
Christian Bale just last night said he was on his way to Los Angeles to screen test with some potential DKR co-stars, so the only thing we really know for sure is there is screen tests going on now.
Naomi Watts better get a role.
Well, mostly because she's hot :smug:
I only know Vicki Vale from the Tim Burton movies, is she a heroine in her spare time in the comics?
i hope this movie will be at least on-par with the previous Dark Knight.
Shit was so thrilling, non-stop entertainment, so I cannot expect anything less from this one.
Damn, I wish Gemma Arterton could be in this. FUN FACT: it's her 25th birthday today
I hope the movie keeps its dark undertone with Nolan at the head im sure it will but it will be a nice contrast between the light which should be the Superman movie and the Dark which is obviously the Batman movie, thats why the 2 play off each other so well.
kiera knightley please
kiera knightley please
But she's like a walking stick.
With a bobble head.
But she's like a walking stick.
