I wanna read that Spider-Man/Batman crossover SO badly... Apparently, the story goes that the doctors at Ravenholm have "cured" Cletus Cassidy (aka Carnage) and aare now touring around the country to all the different asylums... which eventually brings them to Arkham. Spidey thinks something might be up, so he follows them to Gotham. Turns out Cletus was faking the whole thing, just so he could get to Arkham to meet his personal hero, the Joker. The two escape and start tearing shit up, so Spidey teams up with Batman to set things right. It sounds utterly amazing, I really gotta see if I can find a trade of it... EDIT: Bam, thank you Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Batman-Disordered-Minds-DeMatteis/dp/0785101926/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334375952&sr=8-1
Not to forget they ruined the movie by not bringing back Edward Norton.
Edward Norton wasn't that good in my opinion, even though I like him, but even he can't save The Hulk. Hulk is just downright boring, who cares..
I liked Norton, but they didn't truly get what makes the Hulk so great in that movie. The thing with the Hulk is, he's a time bomb. He has no control over this monster inside him that he CAN'T let loose, not even for a second, or else innocent people could be seriously hurt. It doesn't help that everyone who knows that Banner is the Hulk is against him; even if they're allied with him (ie. Avengers), they KNOW what he is and the risk he represents, so that distrust is always there. One of the best moments in The Incredible Hulk was when those thugs cornered Banner in the bottling plant. They start attacking him, all while he's basically telling them "STOP, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. YOU'RE GOING TO GET HURT." Just listen to this, it captures the character PERFECTLY: http://www.televisiontunes.com/Incredible_Hulk_-_The_Lonely_Man_(The).html "Lonely Man". That's exactly who Bruce Banner is. A man who, whether he's the Hulk or Bruce Banner, will always be on his own. I have a feeling that The Avengers will do this much better. NOTE: Sorry for writing a novel here, but since everyone is talking about whether or not they liked Norton and all, I figured I'd toss my two cents in.

He's such a simple hero, people need to explore that concept, since they can do almost everything with it.
http://batman-news.com/2012/04/19/the-dark-knight-rises-trailer-3-is-complete-coming-soon-to-a-theater-near-you/ Expect the third trailer in a few weeks. I'd be surprised to see it attached to the avengers though, unlike what this article says. That'd be rather odd. Even more so to Dark Shadows lmao. I'll just guess and say Men In Black 3, or Battleship.

i am surprised. [editline]21st April 2012[/editline] http://www.nolanfans.com/2012/04/20/third-dark-knight-rises-trailer-with-the-avengers/ "Back in 2008, the third trailer for The Dark Knight played before showings of Iron Man." I guess I shouldn't be.
probably due to the audience overlap
Why would they promote the movie to an audience that probably already knows about the film?
I'm not sure if I understand your point but it sounds pretty dumb nonetheless
I am now even happier I planned a trip to see The Avengers. Gonna pay the extra cash to see it in IMAX (even though 0% of the movie was shot in it) too.
Why would they promote the movie to an audience that probably already knows about the film?
This is just how advertising works. In a summer stuffed with BIG movies they need to keep informing people about it to keep it at the front of their minds, and keep them spreading the word. There's every chance some of the people that go to see it won't know about it or forgot.
Argh, I'll exit after watching the trailer for the avengers movie.
No offense to batman fans but I hate the title. Adding "Rises" is very creative  , it's like saying "Presenting the Dark Knight, now look as he rises (get's up off his ass)" . Just my opinion . [editline]22nd April 2012[/editline]
I am now even happier I planned a trip to see The Avengers. Never again :yarr:
A few of my friends work at the local AMC, and at the early employee screening for this movie specifically, they're allowed to take two people along with them. One of my friends chose me to go with. Shit yeah.
how early are we talking?
It's usually two days before. So the 18th (I would guess).
Argh, I'll exit after watching the trailer for the avengers movie.
If you do that then congrats on wasting your money
Why would they promote the movie to an audience that probably already knows about the film?
Warner Bros., "We see this placement as a good strategic decision. We always want our trailers to be seen with films that people want to see – and a lot of people will be going to The Avengers. It will provide the best potential exposure for The Dark Knight Rises. It’s a big positive for everyone"
I think I can see the trailer few days earlier, as it's arrived to the theater already, and I know people. I'll let you know how it was if I get to see it earlier ok

Avengers, Dark Knight, Spider-Man... yeah, 2012's a GOOD year for superheroes. Not to mention, this means we'll be getting a new trailer for TDKR (and probably ASM) with Avengers... Dammit, just BE May 4th already...

I have only read some Batman ones, but the way everything is so super intricate and shit because they have to keep making stuff up while adding it to an existing storyline, and it just ends up being so stupid. There have been like what, four Robins, all because DC thought that Batman needed a kid sidekick to appeal to younger audiences in the sixties, and a Justice League (which was un-Batman-y enough to begin with) for teens? And all that shit about extra dimensions and fighting intergalactic time lords and stuff like that. What the fuck. That's why I love Nolan's Batman. They're simple, the movies work by themselves, and they're not lame.

Dick Grayson was the first Robin, but he ended up having a falling out with Bruce and pursued a solo career as Nightwing. Jason Todd was the second, but he died (and later returned as the Red Hood). Tim Drake is the third, he actually trained himself physically and mentally to the point where he was able to deduce that Batman was Bruce Wayne. There were a few more Robins in there, but the current one is Damian Wayne, son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul. There's multiple teams because, well, it makes sense. The JLA can't respond to EVERY SINGLE THREAT, hence the formation of smaller teams such as the Teen Titans and Young Justice. At their heart, superheros are basically characters from a sci fi (Spider-Man, Superman, etc.), fantasy (Thor, Wonder Woman, etc.), or noir (Batman, Daredevil, etc.) background placed in the modern world. It stands to reason that there's some crazy stuff. Honestly, the Batman comics are great if you don't like the more improbable parts of comics (the aformentioned timelords and whatnot). Most of the time, it's just Batman vs some psychopath or criminal organization or cult or something. I'd check some of em out (I particularly love the Paul Dini/Bruce Timm stuff based off of the 90's animated series, Mad Love is spectacular).

I read that there'll be at least an hour of IMAX footage in the movie
5 minutes of footage shown at CinemaCon. Expect descriptions later.
Just like how they put the Watchmen trailer in front of The Dark Knight, it obviously wouldn't have made half of its intake if they hadn't put that trailer there.
Yeah, but that's a DC trailer before a DC film. People are surprised at The Avengers because it's Marvel.
Yeah, but that's a DC trailer before a DC film.
