Prescription Glasses\Contacts wearers chat - Everything is all together fuckin colors man

The best moment of last year was when I had gotten some new glasses after 2 years of wearing the same ones. I put my new pair on and I cracked a smile because I could see everything in a fine clear view. Now I can't even see arms length without my glasses, everything is blurry without them. :suicide:
I want to try contacts, how do I start and what kind should I get?
I'm also legally blind without glasses.
I used to be terrified of eyepatches until they started offering me stickers to decorate them.
Don't really wear my glasses much anymore, my pescription has barely changed in 4 years, I mainly wear them when I'm reading for long periods because I'm far sighted so concentrating on details close up is hard work sometimes.
It's a pain having one decent eye - 3D doesn't work, depth perception is terrible, anything requiring my right eye to read (Glass :c ) isn't compatible, if I hurt my good eye I'm in a mess.
Anybody else ever felt like they were wearing their glasses when they weren't? I've poked myself in the eyes trying to push up non-exsistant glasses several times.
Yeah, it's not as bad as being blind but it is definitely a pain. I don't have depth perception issues, but I can't watch 3D movies or read very well out of my right eye either.
Also am I the only one who never believes people when they say my glasses are filthy? I guess I just get used to whatever dust/dirt is on the lens and forget about it...
I used to wear contacts, but eventually I decided it wasn't worth it.
It's just one more thing you have to do every day, and sometimes they slide out of place or whatever.
What are your guys' prescriptions?
I'm -8.50, -8.25. I'm surprised the make glasses for me. :v:
i work at essilor and i can confirm that we ship up to -+15 sph/cyl lenses (which weigh like a pound uncut holy shit)
Lazy eye, who has it?
I was the most badass first grader/pirate with my eye patch.
I got lazy eye. My left is so weak that lose it would mean I just lose a bit of peripheral vision. I am basically a cyclops
Lazy eye, astigmatism, long sightedness meaning despite being pretty blind I can survive without my goggles

Holy wtf man... I was actually at the docs today and got good news that my sight hasn't gotten worse at 1.5 years. Still at -6.00
my gf scratched up my lenses I AM SO MAD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
never letting anyone touch my glasses again
All i can say is for the longest time I didn't have any type of glasses or contacts. Vision was kinda meh, then I got glasses and was pretty much like "holy shit, look what I've been missing out on."
Then I went and got contacts and pretty much everything is normal.
I'm just gonna say that this is my first spring with contacts, and allergies are going to make these few months... interesting.
Im considering getting contacts once my prescription settles, it's still changing yearly by quiet a bit, and it's harder to just pop out contacts if i'm getting a headache and pop em back in.
Besides I got a coloured contact a year-ish ago and crap it was hard to get in. My eyes have too good defences.
Question to glass wearers - how do you do it, people?
Its just so uncomfortable, and dizzy. Really terrible on rainy and misty days, too. I myself have a bad eyesight, but have been wearing contacts since I was diagnosed. Tried glasses later, and it was awfull exeprience.

I've been wearing glasses for almost six years now. I can't imagine not wearing glasses, I constantly try and push them up when I'm not wearing them when I wake up, and I often forget they are there sometimes. It sort of becomes a part of you in a sense, I guess.
People who have worn them for a while probably know what I mean.
Well. For a brief period of wearing them I once fell asleep with glasses on - and they, as you may expect, broke. Wouldn't happen with contacts.
But glasses look really cool sometimes, I can't deny that.

Every once in a while I will lose track of my glasses, panic, and look around for them, only to find that they are on my face. I only really notice them when they are dirty.
I always though it was hilarious how my ex experienced her first time with glasses.
She got glasses for the first time and put them on at school and was looking around and in class she saw our teachers face in high detail so she just took her glasses of. She was so horrified that our teacher actually was that ugly and couldn't believe we all manage to look at her all day long.

I wore glasses from age 7 to age 16 when I finally realized contacts were awesome. Glasses aren't that bad though, but then again I adjusted to them before I got contacts. I still wear my glasses whenever I am not out socializing because it creates less strain on my eyes.
Glasses > Contacts.
Gotta have those thick rims to be clumsy.
I remember when I finally had to get glasses. I didn't realize how bad my eyesight was (near sighted), it just got worse and worse really slowly. I remember 7th or 8th grade where I thought the teacher was using shitty markers and I couldn't make out the agendas on the board and whatnot, but one day my friend left his glasses on the table so I put them on and I was like holy shit I can see across the room.
I don't wear my glasses all the time though, even though I have to wear them to see well I hate when I have to wipe them off all the time, or when it's raining and water drops get all over the lens. I mainly wear them for class, driving, watching TV, and other times when I want to see clearly.
I want to get some contact lenses for when I go airsofting or for sports, it's the worst when I have to not only worry about my goggles fogging but also my glasses, and them getting in the way. My current pair is slightly starting to get a bit blurry, it's a thin line between a slight fuzz around edges and perfectly clear.
I've had two friends that wore my glasses, said how clear everything was, and then got their own a week later.
I think it was all the time I've spent on the computer/tablet/mobile that ruined my eyes :v:

This is basically how I am. I wear my glasses when I'm just shitting around at home, but I put in my contacts whenever I'm gonna go out and do something. It's easier to use glasses when you get them first, I guess.
It's always a bit of an adjustment, having a pair on your face, but you get used to it.
I'm just lucky that my eyes are entirely apathetic towards contacts B)
Being nearsighted is like being an edgy photographer every second with things in the distance melding into a huge blur
It was weird being told that your eyes suck and you need glasses, going 14 or so years without glasses I just thought everyone had problems seeing far. Then I got glasses and was like holy shit everything is so detailed.

Haha, that is so true. Especially when everything starts getting blurry 1 foot out.
I often forget my glasses at home leaving me incapable of keeping up in class
Because fuck morning stress :v:
I've had glasses since I was about 7 or 8 years old and I've sorely needed them that whole time. Can't fucking wait to throw some money down for laser eye surgery and ditch these goddamn things in the future
I prefer my contacts, since glasses don't look good on me because of my slightly crooked nose :(
I have retinitis pigmentosa that comes from having Usher's syndrome (so I'm also heavily hearing impaired, pretty much deaf. FoV is 20ish degrees, sp I'm borderline blind too). I'm also nearsighted (could read a book without glasses, although I won't, since I like my glasses and am never without them except in the shower/sleeping) and I've astigmatism. I've never even considered contacts, been using my glasses ever since I was a kid (obviously have changed them during the years). Dunno what numbers my glasses have, I never remember. I doubt they're that bad though, as my vision isn't TOO awful (minus the FoV, which can't be fixed with glasses anyways).
Glasses since 7 years or so.
I don't go for contacts because IMO I look better with glasses(even though it is a stereotype, fitts good with my charachter).
Even though lately, with these new glasses, I got red stains where it rests but I don't feel it that much.

I know that feel, I could actually SEE the different leaves on trees.
Even though my glasses might have made my eyesight worse, mainlydue to the fact that short ranges without glasses are hard now.
Transitional lens are annoying as fuck.
I'm so glad when I got my new pair of glasses, I just bought a pair of prescription sunglasses.
I wear a single contact :v:
Short sighted with a slight astigmatism but I only wear my glasses when I need to e.g. in class because fuck sitting right next to the whiteboard
I wear them for films sometimes too and still say "whoah it's like everything's in HD" whenever I put them on :v:
